They took wonderful care of my dog. They were friendly, professional and much faster then I had anticipated. I would definitely go to them again but hopefully I won't need to ????

Update: Doctor Nelms invited us back in for a check-up. This was a much better experience. We were assisted right away. Dr. Nelms redid my kitty's vitals and assured me that he was on the mend. She talked to me about his symptoms and what could have caused them (viral VS bacterial). She also educated me on what to watch for moving forward and indications that he may need to be seen again. When reflecting back on my first visit, I didn't get this level of attention. Even if kitty's tests were initially inconclusive, I would have felt better if I was able to have a thorough conversation about it. Also, although no one outwardly said anything, I initially felt like the details of the events that brought us in were disregard. A lot happened and I was worried about his presenting symptoms AND worried about other potential future problems/risks he could face from getting into a fight with another critter. I'm not going up to 5 stars because; although Dr. Nelms is great she's not always the one working, we were forgotten about and left in the waiting room after discharge (I had to ask for my cat back after 40 minutes) at the first visit, for them being allegedly busy that day none of the staff had a sense of urgency (we were there over 3 hours) which lead to feelings of being unimportant and my time wasn't being respected. Keep in mind this is an observation. I can't confirm my suspicions so this is not being considered in the score. And honestly, they are a bit pricey. But considering they're 24/7, the cost would be worth the after-hours visit. Original review (2 stars): There was no one in the waiting room when we arrived and we waited forever to be seen. That big of a deal considering I have no idea what's going on in the back. I figured we wait awhile. An hour and a half later we finally saw the doctor Who said they were going to try to figure it out. They did X-rays and took blood samples and came back and said they couldn't find anything wrong. My cat was limping, super fatigued and had a fever of 104, yet they couldn't find anything wrong?! They we're ready to send us home and forgot we were there. We waited another 40 minutes just for someone to bring my cat out of the back. It was frustrating to entrust a beloved family member to someone for care just be told they didn't know what was going on. It's been a week and my cat is still sick as hell and I have to take him somewhere else. What's worse is, when someone from there responds to a negative review it's argumentative and never apologetic. They can't even acknowledge there's a problem.

I am very thankful for the ppl that took care of my sweet Annie. We sadly had an emergency with her but thankfully GLVC took great care of her and she was able to come home with us the following afternoon. They were pretty friendly, quick, and thorough throughout the whole process. Thank you again!

Our 6-mo pup began having seizures suddenly over the past few days and we struggled to consistently find an emergency facility able to see her during this chaotic holiday season (we were at 4 in 2 days). Not only did they allow us face2face consultation and evaluation but spent a great amount of time answering our questions about seizures and what we should expect / not expect over the next several weeks. Both the attending Dr and medical staff were very kind and compassionate, understanding our concerns and we were able to leave with a much better grasp of the future with our girl. Kudos to the staff for helping us when information was most needed. Thank you all.

You must turn left on winding River drive, 100 feet to the east of their sign, to reach the facility. There is no driveway from Grand River Avenue.

I had to take my cat here last night knowing that I would have to euthanize her. Everyone here was SO nice, very compassionate, and kind. There was no wait to get in and the price was very reasonable. I had no idea we had another emergency vet available outside of MSU and I will be telling everyone about this place. One of the best vet experiences I have ever had and will continue to take my pets here. They made an extremely sad situation as comfortable as possible. Thank you so much to the staff!

So very grateful for the care my little girl was able to receive after severely lacerating her paw! These folks work tirelessly to provide the area with care at a time when others are closed or have changed their hours due to Covid and staffing shortages. Wonderful care and privileged to have access to this facility!

Kitty wasn’t feeling good for a few days, ended up throwing up a foreign object. Took him in around 5pm, we were seen within minutes. They took X-rays and gave him some fluids and medication, we were out around 7pm. The entire staff was super friendly, and gave Greg the best care. You pay for what you get, and we had great service for our kitten.

Zero stars if I could. Needed an emergency c section, came in for 2 hours to be told I need 3500 upfront , and 200 for an xray before they even look at dog. Completely wasted precious time in an emergency. Paid 110 just to get my dog back with NO work done, hours into pup being stuck in canal . Sick. 110 BASICALLY JUST TO WALK IN! AVOID! Took my dog to Pennsylvania clinic where they accepted her right away, removed now passed pup from her immediately, mind you greater lansing determined it was dead but did not remove it, AND it was less than half of what this establishment wanted. NEVER AGAIN. As you can read negative reviews are responded back with attitude as well.

The staff here truly love animals. The compassion that was shown to us during a truly difficult time was what all businesses should strive for. We were given understanding, knowledge and kindness by the entire staff. A special thank you to the nurse, Chastidy, who was thorough and answered every question thrown her way. And also to Danielle who held our hand for a grueling 5 hours. Thank you to the entire staff. You are appreciated.

This is my second time visiting this facility and I have been extremely happy with all the staff. They are all super friendly even though they are extremely busy. I don’t understand the negative reviews in regards to the wait times. This is an emergency vet and the pets that are most critical will be treated first,, just as it is when you go to any ER Room at a Hospital. Keep up the great work and your service is greatly appreciated!!!

On the weekend (of course) I held off bringing my cat to an emergency vet hoping he would get better. Besides my regular vet, I didn't know who to trust and I was worried about the cost, so I held off. On Monday, my regular vet suggested he really needed care that they were not able to offer and suggested Greater Lansing Veterinary Center. I took him there knowing he would die if I didn't. My cat was VERY sick and had lots of medical issues. Here is how it went and what you might expect. Be patient. On the first visit, I was there for about 6 hours -- an ultrasound, then I admitted him for treatment and waited to talk to the doctor to explain what they found and their plan of action. Follow up visits were MUCH shorter (an hour or two, maybe a little less time) Expensive. More expensive than my regular vet, but you know what it will cost before you leave. They gave me a complete itemized breakdown of cost and if I didn't give him care he would have died -- so I had to decide. They gave me a printed report of the diagnosis, how they were going to proceed and the times of day they were going to call for an update. When my cat was ready to come home, I was given care instructions (verbal explanation and a written report). I loved Dr. Nelms. She was very knowledgeable and answered all my question. When I called to talk to the tech, Michelle, she was very patient. They found the underlying cause and explained how to take care of him at home. So far, he is doing well, and I am glad I gave him medical treatment. He's much better now, almost back to normal and I hope it continues. Yes, I would go there again (although, I hope I don't have to).

We took our 8 month old lab in tonight for an emergency (she chewed open a battery). They took great care of her. Only about a 20 minute wait. Everyone was nice and helpful. Didn’t over prescribe or recommend extra testing. We called 8 different places first and they were all too busy or nobody on staff. Happy we went in, our pup is going to be fine! Reasonable pricing for our visit. We even snapped a shot by the Christmas tree lol.

I attempted to take my asthmatic cat with an upper respiratory infection to MSU but was turned away. I had even called MSU before starting the 2 hour drive for emergency care to make sure they could help, but upon arrival MSU just gave me a list of other emergency vet centers. The best thing they did for me was to give me the address of GLVC! I took my cat there and they took great care of my Gizmo! I had to wait a while, but it is only right that the most critical are cared for first. I have been in that situation before and been the owner of a critically ill dog or cat, so I understood. The staff was great and very helpful! I highly recommend them!

We waited 3 hours to see our appointment about our Dog's injured leg and still hadn't seen the vet. I understand that everyone is very understaffed right now but I cannot recommend anyone come here during an emergency unless there is nobody else available.

We took my neighbor's cat in for emergency treatment, and the staff was highly professional, empathetic and treated the cat and us with gentle, loving care. I highly recommend this facility.

As I write this review, my dog is still in the care of this facility. I hate to see all the bad reviews here, because they are wonderful people. They are very busy and stressed but they genuinely care about every patient who walks in. I heard a vet tech having a very compassionate conversation with a couple who came in with a dog having seizures, it actually brought tears to my eyes. As for my dog, it seems they have saved her life. They have called us round the clock to keep us updated on her status and they do a great job answering all of our questions. Thank you so much to the staff here, you made this whole experience much easier my family.

Dog was dying and they gave me 2 IV bags and needles and kicked me out. My dog is now dead and I’m $1500 short.

The office is very clean and stylish. They immediately mopped up any messes. Our dog was having diarrhea and bloated abdomen. The staff at GLVC were very friendly and she was seen within 15 minutes (we arrived at 8:30a on a Monday). The waiting room wasn't busy at first, but did get pretty busy within a couple hours. We had to wait 1 day to get ultrasound (imaging office was closed), so they kept her overnight. The ultrasound was completed the next day and our dog had severe cancer. The staff was very empathetic and kind to us and left all options up to us and were upfront with costs. We chose to end her suffering. Staff had cleaned her up beautifully for our last visit. The staff & veterinarian were compassionate and allowed us as much time as needed with our dog. After her passing, they checked up on us, sent us our leash and a personalized card. It was very touching. We highly recommend Greater Lansing Veterinary Center.

I arrived with my dog that suddenly lost the ability to stand or walk and was shaking with every breath no negative medical history so this seems like an emergency situation. Upon arrival I called at 5:21and was told a room was about to open up and somebody would be out with a stretcher shortly. At 5:56 I called to ask on the status and was told they didn’t even know I was waiting. At that point I was told it would most likely be two hours and the vet that would be seeing him wasn’t even there until 7 pm. I waited until 8:15 to check in again and was told that it would easily be another hour. After waiting another hour with no word it became apparent that my dogs rapidly declining health was not important because they said he was breathing and his heart sounded good. I understand emergencies come in but being lied to is unacceptable.

Waist of time. Our dog was passing blood clots in his stool. We waited over 2 hours before I went out to ask for an ETA. I was told “we were next” & waited an additional 30mins. We walked out. No one checked in on us or offered any consolation for us waiting so long. I understand it’s an animal ER & there will be a wait this was absurd. I’m concerned for people bringing their animals here that need immediate attention.

I do not recommend bringing your pet to this veterinary. You will be there for at least 5 hours no matter what the situation. They are understaffed and not well trained. The sutures that were done on my dog came apart and infected within 4 days. Bring the dog back and they want to charge me another $1400 to fix their mistake. I will not be back again!

For the past 3 weeks I’ve been in and out of this emergency vet with my dog Duke. He was brought in for a collapsing episode, stayed for about 36 hours had a blood transfusion and some testing done. The staff was very kind, very generous asking all the time if there was something they could do for us. A few days ago we got the news back that he would not be recovering. Shortly after he took a very sharp turn for the worse. I came into the vet to talk to Dr. Erickson, he was the original vet who admitted Duke. He made time for me out of his very busy day to talk to me about options. The next morning Duke was non responsive and ready to cross the rainbow bridge. I brought him back in, everyone was so generous and very professional for us into a room immediately, gave us the time we needed and I’m very thankful that Dr. Erickson was able to be there for not just Duke but for me and my family to walk us through what was happening. I cannot say enough how amazing this Vet is. Thank you to the entire staff that took care of my baby boy none of you will ever be forgotten. ❤️

This is by far the worst experience I’ve ever had with a vet clinic. The staff as a whole were completely unprofessional and condescending. I paid for services that were told to me that would be done and they weren’t. The prices they quoted me were completely off the wall, ranging from 1500-3500. My cat was returned to me with zero cleaning or dressing after roughly 6 hours of waiting.

Yes, you wait forever but it’s 100% worth it! They always take great care of your pet. They understand that it’s takes a while but are so compassionate about what they are doing and it’s so worth the wait.

I was referred here from another vet that felt my 9 year old pit needed critical care. I arrived around 7pm and they were able to get us into a room pretty quickly. I was a bit shocked at the estimate/ deposit I had to pay before they admitted her for the night. Thankfully, she was discharged approx 24 hours later and my total was significantly less and I received a refund of the difference. Everyone was very nice, professional, and sympathetic when I called numerous times for updates. The lobby and exam rooms are very clean. I understand everyone/ everywhere is short staffed right now. I also understand critical/ emergency pets are priority (as they should be). The wait time to pick her up last night was quite frustrating but the reason for 4 stars is the lack of their "own" ultrasound equipment/ personnel. I was very surprised a vet that does critical care has to depend on another company's schedule and availability.
