Our baby girl Bella passed away today at the Westland clinic. We had to make the tough choice to euthanize her to help set her spirit free from her exhausted body. The staff at both the Belleville and Westland clinics have been amazing through her entire life full of visits. They were so kind and compassionate at the end, and I would highly recommend them if you are ever in need of care for your fur baby, at any point in their life! Thanks Healthy Paws!

One visit to rule them all? I’ve been visiting this vet for 8+ years. They’ve always done a good job, have been flexible with my schedule/finances and seem to always care. Aside from a high turnover of new vets (4-5 in 8 years) and today’s visit , there’s not been much concern but I will say that it’s just not the same anymore. Five weeks ago, my cat had hematoma surgery with Dr. Eastman after draining it didn’t work. Dr. Eastman had always been very easy to communicate with and understanding with my personal situation. After the surgery, we had to visit weekly to check his healing process and I was advised I would not be charged for these rechecks. The rechecks we’re flexible and I appreciated when they would let me drop him off to come back a few hours later when I had to take my son to a doctor’s visit at the same time. Each week I would talk to Dr. Eastman and would be told the game plan. Last week, we talked and decided one more week with his stitches in to ensure that the hematoma doesn’t return. She said otherwise, he looked great and she was extremely happy with his progress. I made the appointment with someone, advising it needed to be Dr. Eastman and in the afternoon. That appointment was today. The first red flag with the appointment should have been when someone called that wasn’t Dr. Eastman. This wasn’t the usual but I shrugged it off that she would call me soon enough. They said “the doctor” would like to do an ear cytology because he looks like he has an ear infection “again.” This was news to me because 1) he’s never had an ear infection before and 2) Dr. Eastman said he looked great last week. I questioned it since his last ear cytology a month ago was normal and Dr. Eastman didn’t mention it last week but was pushed to do it to avoid another hematoma even though that wasn’t what caused the first one (he had an upper respiratory and the sneezing likely caused it). I authorized it and was told I would get a call in 5-10 minutes with results. The next call I get was to check out less than 5 minutes later. No vet call. No information about what the results were. They give me the total of over $90 (mind you I was still only expecting the cytology price of $27). I question, and then am told he has a “massive” ear infection and that price includes the cost of the medication. I was about to pay when I asked if a recheck fee was included as it shouldn’t have been. I was told by “Sara” that every visit has a recheck fee (there are two Sara’s and this is not the “loud” Sarah that has been there for years). When I tried explaining I’ve been there every week without a fee, I was talked over and told “you must not have seen a vet those visits.” When I then said to talk to Dr. Eastman because I’ve spoken with her weekly and have never been charged a fee, that’s when I was told Dr. Eastman was not in. At that point I got frustrated. I know I got an attitude because I was annoyed. It was supposed to be Dr. Eastman today who had been seeing him weekly and not someone else and there should not be a fee. I finally cut the girl off and told her I shouldn’t be charged the fee while she was trying to explain that I would have to pay it. She put me on hold, comes back to tell me the vet waived it but I really should be charged it. I tried explaining again how that didn’t make sense based on every other visit but she continues to want to argue with me that I hadn’t seen a vet despite talking to the doctor each week. I ended up paying the bill minus the fee. When they wanted me to schedule a recheck in two weeks, I literally LOL’d and told them I’d call back and to just bring me my damn cat. The girl was less than friendly, not understanding and clearly didn’t care what I had to say. I also never got instructions on what to do with the ear meds, thank goodness the ointment bottle gives info. I also never was told what to do with my cats now floppy ear. Funny how the one time I don’t actual speak to a vet is when they try to charge a vet fee. I think it’s time I try to shorten my hour drive and find a vet closer.

My baby kitty Merlin has received the best care at Healthy Paws! The staff are caring and knowledgeable, and the doctor is very thorough and happy to answer any questions I have. I am so thankful to have found this place for my sweet boy!

We had to put down our two baby boys today. The staff was nothing but caring, and patient. They were caring and gentle with our babies, respectful. I definitely recommend them! Or babies were surrounded by love and family in their last moments.

I bring my foster dogs here and they do a great job of communicating needs and caring for the dogs we bring in. They understand foster dogs are unique and may not feel safe yet and they take time to allow the dogs to settle before trying to work on them. One Dr even came outside because my timid girl wouldn't even come in my house yet so he came out and built trust and did an initial assessment on the lawn!

I've known Dr Steve for 17yrs. I recently lost my Chihuahua & Shih-Tzu just a month apart ???? They brought my pups out to me in my car after Sedation so my furbabies would be with their Momma... And the last they'd remember while crossing over... Very Compassionate

It would be 4 or 5 stars if every appointment we made wasn't somehow not on the schedule when we called that day before to confirm it. 3 times we call to confirm the appointment One we confirm the day of but when we get there nope sorry we have no appointment for you.

Me. Too busy. Edit* I appreciate your response, unfortunately at this time I don't known how you could have done better. Almost all the vets and pet ERs we called were flooded with pandemic puppies and corona cats. We read that there was a 900+% increase in pets during lockdown. So not really your fault. But unfortunately you were unable to help us.

I’ve never had a bad experience here. The workers are friendly and treat your pets as their own. I have owned 8 dogs and not one of them has ever been EXCITED to go to the vet before! My Boxer Mastiff, Nyla, loves it & I would recommend this place to anyone.

We have been taking our dogs to Healthy Paws for years and have recommended them multiple times. They have helped us through loss and new additions and all the care in between. We highly recommend them as greyhound knowledgeable vets!

Although the staff I saw directly was polite, they never acknowledged that we had been sitting outside in the heat for almost and hour and a half past our scheduled appointment. They took the dog in without me which made me a lil nervous. Also it’s right off of a VERY busy road so IF you go here make sure your dogs leash is good!

Our dear best friend needed to be taken to the other side and our regular vet could not accommodate us for two weeks. We called Healthy Pets and they graciously gave us their time and even let all of us be in the room with our dear friend as he left this earth and went to his resting place. They gave us all the time we needed and were so gracious, kind and compassionate. Thank you, Healthy Pets.

So far I've loved going here. They've treated Pink so well. I just wish they allowed you in now with your pets, I know other places around the area do. They did my dogs spay and the incision was done so well and Pink recovered very well!

I asked if I could go inside with my 3 month old puppy because for her first visit none of my concerns were addressed. When I told the tech this she was rude and said fine and canceled the second appointment. Covid restrictions have been lifted, if you don’t want people inside then just close down!!!
