Family Pet Practice Waterford, Michigan

Based on reviews, I have no doubt this practice provides wonderful care. Unfortunately, when I called to schedule an appointment I was told they are not accepting new patients.

Our beautiful girl Eva was misdiagnosed in October by Dr. Craig. She determined from X-ray that she had arthritis and by the way she was limping, that she had a cruciate tear. After a month of treating with pain meds, anti inflammatory and injections, she wasn’t getting better. Dr. Craig recommended either an orthopedic surgeon or neuro specialist to get a CT scan. We took her to MedVet in Commerce for consult early Dec. The surgeon came outside after 10 minutes of looking at X-ray from Famiy Pet and told us it wasn’t arthritis or cruciate tear. He did a rectal exam where he found a large mass that was pressing on bones, nerves and organs. He recommended CT and possibly surgery. He told us to research 3 legged dogs. The earliest appt for scan was Jan 4. Xmas eve we came home to a green yellow discharge (infection) on beds and blankets. We had an appointment the following Tuesday at 340 at Family Pet Practice. That day she was having a had time urinating. All this time she was still eating and drinking. There was no mention of arthritis or tear. Her bladder was at the point of bursting. Dr. Craig was not able to put in a catheter and called around to find an emergency that could. The only available was AEC in Rochester. We took her there. They kept her, put in catheter and asked to X-ray lungs. Doc called 545am next morning. Lungs were clear. She also found Blue Pearl in Southfield that would take her for scan and keep her comfortable. We arrived there at 8am. At 1030 Dr came in after looking at all her records with surgeon who determined the outcome would not be good if they removed mass. We were devastated. They recommended she be euthanized. The hardest decision for any pet owner. We are still grieving. This is not about money. We would have taken out a second mortgage to have her with us still, but we incurred close to 5 thousand dollars. 3 thousand in a 18 hour period. We trusted Dr. Craig. She made an egregious mistake. We have been clients since they were Lake Geneva Pet Practice.

Great vet techs and Dr. Craig is awesome

I took my senior cat in for a check up and they handled her very well and made her as calm as possible. She does not like to be held and they were very gentle with her.

I’ve been with family Practace for Twenty years , inwhich the family Practace has taking care of all three of my dogs. The names of my dogs our Chico deceased as of 2021 from cancer,l he was Twenty years of age. Lola is still alive , and has just went blind this December 2021she is the sister of Chico 18 years old. My wife’s dog is Dora Ann . Family Practace has taken care of her for now Eight years. I would never have anyone Else take care of my dogs except family Practace. Dr Craig identified a genetic issue doing pre-surgical tests on my puppy. I went to a specialist to get it looked at, and the specialist surgeon said that I was so lucky that Family Pet Practice was diligent - he said most vets would have never identified it and my pet would likely not have lived! Thanks to Dr Craig and team!!! They also are very responsive, always follow up and it is very clear that they really truly enjoy their work and care about my pets!

I always have a pleasant experience with this office. They are very friendly and do everything they can to help you understand and keep you in your budget.

Our pup had surgery and Dr Craig and the team were just the best. She called me with results, they gave us thorough instructions, and supported my frightened dog through the whole thing. Thank you so much!

Very good people. Kept me informed at all times and explained everything clearly.

Brought my newly adopted dog for a wellness check and went over every inch. He was from a hoarding situation and I didn’t even know what his age was. They gave him some shots that were not indicated on his shelter paperwork that he had them. Also a blood panel to see if there are any hidden problems. Dr. Richards did a wellness plan for him for the coming months and I feel much more comfortable about taking the best care of him. I’ve been going to Family Pet Practice for at least 15 years with my other pets.

In my opinion they are the absolute best!!! They helped me take care of my Sadie girl for many many years.

Everyone was kind and really cared about my little dog. Will come back to Family Pet Practice.

Called multiple times nobody answered the phone

We are always pleased with the service, their professionalism, compassion and good humor. I believe the prices to be comparable to other clinics. For me, it’s the service that sets them apart. There have been some longer wait times but I know that isn’t always controllable. They always provide recommended vaccines and/or procedures but don’t push it or make me feel bad if opt we out. They are always thorough with explanations and available if we have additional questions. I’ve been taking my babies here since 2014.

Dr Dyer is the best. She came thru for me when I needed her the most. Thank You Dr Dyer

The techs are all friendly and nice. Bella receives good care and has been going there for years. Everyone seems to love Bella. Bella has seen all three Drs and they all have been very good and caring. Thank you for doctoring and making my little pug better.

We love Family Pet Practice! They are efficient, responsive, and treat our Westie - Teddie - with tender loving care. The appointment and treatment reminders, as well as other communications, are timely and never overdone. The techs and vets spend all the time needed to explain Teddie's care and treatment. Thanks so much for taking great care of our dog!

I had a wonderful experience with Family Pet Practice, they were able to get me in right away, very friendly service, the curbside service, while i prefer to go inside was handled very pleasantly. When my Yorkie was ill, I had to take him to the ER, and Family Pet Practice called me Daily to make sure he was doing ok, and to keep following up.

Very caring and professional practice. I located the Family Pet Practice office when I needed care for my family pet, who was ten years old at that time. I continued to use their services for the next ten years. When "Angle" passed away, I could not have asked for a more compassionate and understanding staff. They help me through the whole heartbreaking process of arranging the burial. I just recently purchased a puppy and would not think of taking him anywhere else. They are extraordinarily knowledgeable and skilled individuals who really care about our furry family members. I would highly recommend Family Pet Practice to anyone who cherishes their pet.

We love Dr. Craig and all the vet techs we’ve met so far!! Our dog actually likes his visits, and everyone is wonderful to him. Unlike most doctors I have seen myself, everyone here seems to want you to ask as many questions as you need, and explains issues well instead of running out of the room as quickly as possible.
