Had the heartache of having to take our dog in for an emergency and ended up having to put her down. The staff and doctor were very compassionate and gave us all the time we needed. They let us be with her the whole time. Very responsive and empathetic.

My dog suffered a puncture wound from another dog in the neighborhood. My dog keeps bleeding and shows no sign of stopping for his what looks to be a painful wound. I brought him to Blue pearl understanding they are an emergency service. However despite my dogs continuous bleeding we were waiting for 3 1/2 hours with no timeframe of when our dog would be seen. There are several other people that kept coming in to for emergencies. A couple came down from Flint Michigan for an emergency life-threatening situation with the dog that required emergency Surgery. We ended up leaving because staff cluelessly cannot identify when will be seen as well as other patients that came in after us were told that they had several more hours to wait. There are no other animal hospitals for emergencies that are open in the area and we keep getting referred to this one. I would not refer this to anybody. Service was rude and Not compassionate. I would not trust any of their medical services based on this treatment.

Went to Blue Pearl on New Years was told 140.00 to check in no problem they take my puppy to rear of office less then 5 min later come out and say they need 800-1000 dollar deposit, me curious about what I’m paying for asked what is the deposit for? Told by the assistant to exam and start treatment on puppy I asked what kind of treatment, then was told until the deposit Is made they wouldn’t know so how do they know how much a deposit is require for treatment if you haven’t checked the puppy to tell me what you treating, after a heated debate about the deposit I requested my puppy that’s when the assistant says to me if I take my puppy he will died he has congested heart failure and breathing problem I said you sound like a thief ten seconds ago you didn’t know now you saying it an emergency that you treat him, when the person who returned my puppy to me came out who wanted to be confrontational asked what did I say to her assistant because she’s in the back in tears I stated she should be in tears playing on a person sympathy for there animal to get such a large deposit is a rip off, She then stated I was a horrible person I in return told her that there were thieves and she could go s*** something, Second bad experience with them thought it was better staff or new management in place since 12 years ago they perform surgery on my 8 year old yorkie and replace the wrong knee cap and lied then but luckily enough I had the X-ray from the clinic that referred my wife to them…

I was waiting until my cat told me it was time to go. Once he did I called, sobbing, several clinics. All where booked until next month. Blue pearl saw us same day saying they wont turn away a euthanasia. After hours of emotional torment we finally said goodbye. The wait was long but we just dropped in same day.

When I say God is Good and I am overly blessed and grateful for the staff and doctors at BluePearl. I mean it. Today my dog was attacked horribly by 2 dogs. I called Luv n Care (truth original doctor) and was advised the doctor was already in a surgery and to go to BluePearl. I called BluePearl while panicking and was told, “yes, we can take him. Please get here safe.” As soon as I pulled in, he was automatically taken to triage. The staff was BEYOND supper helpful. Friendly. Loving. Caring. Everything. After Truth was giving an assessment, I was advised the fee would be up to $1,000. I did not have that type of money to scrape up in seconds. I cried. The doctor left out and went to speak with her supervisor, came back and advised me they will work with me. I instantly cried. After thanking the staff 1000 times and I’ll probably be thanking them a lot more within the days. I am blessed. Truth has been giving EVERY test he needs, cleaned up and nurtured back to health. Long recovery, but I’m thankful he did not have to be put down or not being able to get the care he needed. I highly recommend BluePearl. I probably called over 8 times and the staff did not get tired of me and provided me with a update every chance they could. Beyond polite. Helpful. Literally so blessed for all the staff today. 1/4. I literally will only be coming here moving forward. Thank you all so much. My big baby is coming home!! Who ever said dogs aren’t family!??

I would give this place 0 stars if I could. Called here for my dog for an EMERGENCY to make sure she could be seen by a vet before I drove all the way there. Gave all the symptoms to the girl that answered the phone, she put me on hold for 10 min, and then hung up on me. I called back for the girl to tell me that my dog wasn’t an emergency because she wasn’t dying and hung up on me again. I’m not a vet, but if my dog is lethargic, not eating or drinking, can’t stand up on her own and shaking wouldn’t you think that’s an emergency?? For all I know, my dog could have been dying because like I said, I’m not a vet! Very rude and inconsiderate people work here. Call or go to Veterinary Emergency West in Plymouth instead because they were extremely nice, understanding, explained to me what could be happening and got my dog in right away.

Compassionate, patient staff. Great communication. Wonderful care. My cat continued to get sick and eventually went blind due to what we would find out would be lymphoma. She was cared for by the Oncology team, and at several points, the ER team. They took such good care of her each time, and worked hard to communicate with me and were flexible with my schedule. When her time finally came, they were so compassionate, supportive, and kind. Very grateful for BP and their staff - would recommend to anyone looking for veterinary care.

Unfortunately my dog has some severe bowel issues and we waited here for 5 hours for a 5 minute test that they come to your for. The gentleman at the counter was very rude and had an attitude any time he talked to my mother or I. Definitely don’t recommend if you have an emergency because they will not get you in quick.

RE: Suzette Aquino DVM, Canine Opthalmology Veterinarian I'm a human physician with 31 years experience and hundreds of 5 star ratings, However, I left my recent appointment with Dr. Aquino wondering why she wouldn't answer my questions and concerns that remain serious in nature. This physician actually refused to answer , walked out of the room and said, " ask the technician" For example, I inquired about signs symptoms, reasons, and prognosis about the cloudiness in my dogs eye that followed her surgery and she simply answered, " ask the technician. The one question she tried to answer, "What is Inky's prognosis?" was answered with a question, " What do you mean prognosis?" I have been to dermatology, orthopedics, and the emergency room at Blue Pearl and received the most empathic professional care that one would expect. Dr. Aquino is NOT representative of the greater veterinary profession of our community and of Blue Pearl. Upon checking out, I was told that this isn't the first time patients have complained. Any physician in my organization who practiced and behaved as Dr. Aquino has would be fired.

I called last night regarding a six month old puppy. He had a massive infection through the body. We were told by two different veterinarians to take them to this faculty. We were told that there is no availability a blue pearl we're sorry we can't take you. We had a vet call to give a referral. By the time the referral came the dog had a seizure in my arms and died. How can you help people their animals in which they treat like little furry humans if your prices are too high and you're not willing to help in any way shape or form?

I cannot thank Dr.Ducharme and Becky enough for the time and care they spent helping diagnose my 4 year old golden retriever with a brain tumor. They were both so patient and took the time to explain everything to us and answer our questions. I live over an hour away but will definitely come back in a heartbeat when/if needed. I work in health care and understand some people just become used and numb to their jobs and treat people like numbers, but not here. They genuinely care. Thank you both so much!!

I had to bring in my little buddy last night and ended up putting him to sleep. I was a complete mess, but the staff that helped were amazing, even after a long and busy day (this was one of very few Vet practices open and taking patients the day after Thanksgiving, and were at full capacity til 1am). They were very compassionate, and helped guide me through the process (it was my first time doing this). While I'm incredibly sad that putting him to sleep was the most merciful option, I'm glad it happened here.

Unfortunately I had to bring my sweet 9 year old ferret here to be euthanized very late at night and I truly can not say enough good things about the staff here. Emily at the front desk was so unbelievably sweet as well at the two vets that handled the procedure. They even gave us two beautiful boxes that had her name and paw prints imprinted in them, as well as a folder filled with uplifting poems and grief hotline numbers, honestly just the sweetest place all around. This will always be my go to emergency vet from now on, thank you guys so much for helping my little lady pass on ❤️

I'd give no stars if I could. Where to begin... my experience felt like a total money grab. I was referred by my regular vet here bc my English Mastiff lost the use of his right front leg. After xrays and tests and a referral to an Orthopedic vet, the next logical stop was to see a Neurologist. Boy was she rude and her language barrier made it difficult to understand her. I had to keep repeating myself. She was obsessed with an old injury my dog had years ago. She swore my vet never sent records, of which my vet showed me that was false. And after helping her wrestle my dog so she could examine him she told me I would have to make an appointment at Dogwood bc the MRI machine at Blue Pearl wasn't big enough for my English Mastiff. Excuse me? I had to wait a month for this appointment and I told the receptionist what kind of dog I have and nobody thought to say they don't have the equipment?! Then this doc wants to do $500 in blood work. Um no. My vet can do a blood panel for much less. The kicker. While I was wrestling my dog, I noticed a baseball sized mass between his shoulder blades. Something I had never noticed bc my dog has a skin fold behind his collar. I pointed this out and she brushed me off. This mass wasn't even in the report she sent me and my vet. I left there very upset bc I wasted a day off work to drive hours to them in the pouring rain for nothing. It cost me almost $200 for this visit and a days pay. On my way home I phoned my vet. He saw us the next day for blood work and he checked out this mass. Well within a week the mass drained and my dog regained use of his leg. He's now running around like nothing happened. And his blood work came back perfect. Lessons learned.. always examine my Mastiff's wrinkles and NEVER use Blue Pearl again!

I am emotionally exhausted from my experience here. We were referred to go here by our normal vet after dealing with reoccurring eye ulcers due to chronic dry eye in our nine year old dog. We were pushed to do a "diamond burr debridement" procedure (which I later found out cost twice as much as it normally does at other facilities) at $1,300. We were told this procedure has a "90% success rate". Our dog came out looking like a failed science experiment, now BOTH of her eyes are a complete mess, she never properly healed, I followed all of the recovery instructions provided, and she is completely BLIND and in PAIN. We now have to make the difficult decision on when to euthanize, and I have to explain to my 4 year old daughter why we have to say goodbye. I'm sure the vet tried everything they could, but I can't help but feel they are money hungry and care more about profit than actual care of the animals they treat. PLEASE do your research and consider RISKS INVOLVED before agreeing to DIAMOND BURR DEBRIDEMENT. They failed to warn us or caution us that this could obviously go horribly wrong. Our poor girl was in much better shape before she came to this place- this "procedure" SPED UP and WORSENED her eye issues and we now we have to say goodbye. So heartbroken and devastated.

Everyone was so nice and calm and quick when my cat broke his arm. They got us in for X rays and kept us updated. And they took pictures of my cat daily and texted them to me, and that meant the absolute world to me.

They said something was in my dogs stomach, took him into surgery, didn’t find anything. Charged us 6k. Fired.

It’s extremely unfortunate after reading these reviews the experience we just received. We walked in with my best friends dog who is very sick and hasn’t been eating or drinking for days. The rude receptionist asked if we had an appointment. We said no. It’s an emergency and this is an emergency vet. She said we are at capacity - mind you no one was in the waiting room and there were three cars there. She didn’t even ask if my friends dog was ok or what was wrong. I would never use this vet as they clearly don’t care about animals at all.

The reason for our visit was heartbreaking to say the least, however the staff were very compassionate and kind in assisting our dog Boomer pass on. They provided a beautiful paw print impression for us to keep at no additional charge. We recently received a postcard with hand written sympathy notes by all the staff that attended to our needs. We didn't expect it, and honestly it made us feel like we made the right choice in picking a place that greatly values the bond between pets and their families. I would definitely return to this establishment for my veterinarian needs in the future if we decide to bring another pet into our family.

Neurologist was rude AF. French woman. Couldn’t understand her well so I was looking for clarification and she would just snap at me. Curt. Unwilling to do any tests on my baby Podo. She told me multiple times to put this sweet baby to sleep bc he was having trouble walking on his back legs. Was actually a very bad experience and shame on “Doctors”’at blue pearl for continuing to tell owners to put their animal to sleep over small things. To say it once OK but when I told you “we aren’t doing that now” no need to bring it up multiple times when I didn’t bring my cat for that. Terrible Dr. Dr. Ely was ok but you can never get into an appointment. I’ll stick to Dr. AST at Plaza vets he’s an amazing Dr.!!! He has also offered laser therapy for my cats arthritis rather than telling me to put him to sleep ????????

The reviews about how much this ER hospital costs makes me laugh because.. yes ... it’s an ER hospital. Same with human medicine.. ER hospitals costs more than your primary. These doctors are also board certified- you’re paying for the skills and education you’re primary vet doesn’t- to help your animal. They are extremely up front with the costs and have you sign paperwork before they proceed- don’t get me wrong I wish ALL healthcare was free but it’s not, it’s a business like any other. I’ve been here with all three of my dogs- dermatology/orthopedics/ER and Internal Med.. and every department has taken great care of my pets. I may have not “liked” all the doctors I’ve seen but - that’s life! Thanks to all the blue pearl staff for making sure my pets are always taken care of. You all are angels ????????????

Absolute scam. They will over charge by twice the amount a normal vet would. If you REALLY have an emergency go here but if you can go to your vet do so. They had me put down a 6200 dollar deposit for my diabetic cat, had no choice because she was sick and needed immediate attention. Went in for a checkup on her ketones and they wanted to CHARGE THE EXACT SAME THING AGAIN. Absolutely crazy!

It was one of the most heartbreaking nights of my life, having to bring in my 14 y/o Pit Bull Abby to cross the rainbow bridge… Everyone I came into contact with that night at Blue Pearl were so caring and empathetic. They let me sit with my baby for a long time before it was time. Dr. McKenna was so good with her, they brought her fluffy soft blankets to lay on and made the whole process the best they could. They asked if I wanted to sit with her when it was over and I was so upset I just couldn’t, and that is when Dr. McKenna wrapped the blankets around her like she was a baby and picked her up and took her out of the room. He treated my Best Friend with so much dignity and respect. Not a usual practice for many Dr’s, it’s usually they leave that to a tech. I can’t say enough about the staff that helped me from my first phone call to when I walked through the door, and all the way to the end when I had to leave without my Best Friend… They were so understanding and made sure my son and I were taken care of. The best part was a few days later I got a card in the mail from the staff who helped with Abby and all of the nice things they said and remembered about her from that night. It actually made me cry… They truly care about you and your animals. The foam paw print that they give you is so sweet. I can’t say enough about how wonderful everyone was that night…

For outpatient care don’t go here. They have a big ego but no follow through. I have no doubt the Dr. Assenmacher was and Dr. Caitlin Barry-Heffernan helped to save my cats life when he was battling horrible odds after 8 days in the ICU. Everything changed after he started exhibiting an acute kidney attack. They kept insisting that he didn’t have chronic kidney disease. Instead they kept insisting that he had a G.I. issue even though all the expensive test came back negative and the medicine seem to make it worse not better. He had had high kidney values for months previously which they could’ve just seen if they looked on his record and they also had records of him having high kidney values in the hospital. Once he had an acute kidney attack brought on by his chronic kidney disease she wouldn’t even return them to give us refills on medicine. One time the vet tech called back and told us to not give him the medicine that had made him begin eating again after he was on deaths door because he didn’t have kidney disease. After that they were too ashamed to call us again even to give us more medicine he needed. This is a prime example that it doesn’t matter how many certificates or degrees you have. Go with the Vets who have experience and don’t put their ego before the health of an animal

I called BluePearl's emergency room and they told me I can bring my pet. Get there 30min later, they can't no longer see my pet. Then they suggested I call them every two hours(as I sit at their lot). And I tried this for 3 hours with no luck. The problem with this system is that they don't have the decency to take your number or let you know when you they are available so at least you know you can keep your place in line. As they tell everyone to call them every two hours you can spend your entire day calling without reciving care. They just throw everybody in a 2 hour calling pool regardless of your emergency. This place prays on the scarcity of care and their full schedule. They don't care if they see pet #1 or pet #2 because pets are just numbers to them. One day things will change and people will have more options and never come to BluePearl.

My 15 yr. old cat Precious has been very ill over the past several years with multiple problems. Last October we brought her in to the ER and have been seeing Internal Med Specialist, Dr. Barry-Heffernan since. This doctor has given our sick kitty an extra year of quality life and she is still with us although her health has become more challenging recently. I have never received better care for our pet from anyone! Dr. Barry-Heffernan will spend as much time as needed explaining things and answering all of my questions, and there are plenty! Never rushes me. Her kind and brilliant tech, Denise is frequently returning my calls and questions and with my kitty, her health problems do change frequently. These people are always polite, kind and professional, no matter how busy they are and they are extremely busy. This is the standard of high quality care all medical professionals should give. We recently had an update visit and don't know how long our dear kitty will be with us, but no matter what happens, there is no doubt our loving pet could not have been in better hands. Thank you Dr. Heffernan and Denise for everything! You have been the best and I want to make sure others see this review. I will stick with Blue Pearl for specialty care for my future pets. PS The office staff has always been very pleasant with me as well. My sincere thanks and gratitude!!
