Knowledgeable and caring !! And my dog loves going there ( they give him lots of attention)

We are new to the area and needed to find a vet for our 16 yr old dog. I am very pleased with our initial exam experience. The vet tech and the vet asked all the right questions about his history and took the time to address all of my concerns.

Dr. Walker is absolutely fabulous. We have a very finicky half lab/half husky who is difficult to deal with, and it makes it EXTREMELY anxiety provoking for all of us to go to the vet! Dr. Walker is so, so patient and kind, and makes the process so much easier to deal with. They definitely book up, so try your hardest to call for every day matters and issues as soon as you can think of it. My absolutely only complaint, and one not worth losing a full star by any means, is about one of the front desk/receptionist staff here named Julie. The rest of the staff is SO incredibly kind, goes absolutely above and beyond to help you find an apt or answer questions you have, etc. Julie is rude, abrasive, condescending and seems put out EVERY single time I call the office. At this point any time it's her and she puts me on hold, I just hang up and call later hoping I can speak with one of the awesome other girls--and they REALLY are all amazing!

I called this veterinarian hospital today to schedule a appointment for my dog Mamba. The lady that answered the phone began to schedule me an appointment but out of nowhere tells me they do not want my dog there. That left me in shock because they’ve only made good comments about my pets for the last 2 years. The lady then began to raise her voice at me, and then starts to yell ! Only after asking me “ wait what ? What happened ? “. I feel so disrespected and confused. They also have my number blocked now.

Grateful for the staff and the great care they took with my cat, they squeezed us in and he is already feeling so much better

Staff was excellent, very efficiently run. And actually got to go in with my pet instead of waiting in the car. However, I am updating this review after a couple weeks. they sold my husband a flea and tick and heartworm treatment prevention. It was very very expensive. I sent him back with it to get a refund, and they said it was against the law to refund this. Our cats are indoors, they don't need something so extreme and I can't afford that expense. I am very disappointed in this situation, I guess buyer beware at the vet as well

My animals are well cared for with friendly vet and staff.

First time here very caring and tried to work with me ,have a 15 yeard old dog kept me updated on everything with covid protocol ,really appreciate the saftyof people and animals

Vet tech jerked lease on my dog and harness came off. My tiny chihuahua is now lost and this vet hospital DID NOT CALL ME ONCE TO SEE IF MY DOG WAS FOUND NOR APOLOGIZE. Everyday is sheer torture and ours lives have been turned upside down.

A real person actually answers the phone. All staff was very kind and professional. I feel that my sweet girl will be in good hands with the proper care.

Excellent veterinarians and staff. I’ve been taking my pup since we adopted him and they’ve been such a huge help. They’re kind, thorough, and easy to work with. My pup is always happy to see them and they’ve always been as responsive as possible.

Just called to make an appointment for my cat. The girl was lovely and got all the details. The first thing that troubled me was she said if my cat needed surgery he would have to have all his vaccines. With all the controversy regarding vaccines and my cat being an indoor cat, I was a bit concerned. My cat has the bare minimum vaccines, but I would take issue with a vet pushing unnecessary ones. Telling me this upfront was troublesome. Then she tells me I am REQUIRED to wear a mask if I come in the building. If I didn't my only choice was "curbside" where they take your pet and "call you" after. Now, mind you it is August 2021 - Approx. 70% of the population has been vaccinated and they are still forcing people to wear masks??? I said why are you requiring masks? She said there are some immune compromised people in the office. That's fine. Then they wear masks. I said to her, I don't think I can develop a relationship with a vet that doesn't follow the science. She said, it was the office manager's decision not the doctor's. Omgoodness are you kidding me? So you have a completely uninformed, misinformed, or possibly the one who is "immune compromised" forcing all the patients to wear masks. Clearly not respecting the choices of the doctor's patients. They lost a patient. If these businesses don't start losing business for implementing unnecessary procedures that impede our freedoms, they will just continue to do so. I'm sure the doctors are great, but there are many great vet's in the area. They were just the closest. Please take your pet elsewhere and take a stand! It is the only way this craziness will end.

Hands down the most compassionate and down to earth clinic. My puppy is definitely a “frequent flyer” there, and each time they have taken amazing care of him. They always accommodate us the best they can even on short notice. I greatly appreciate everyone who works at this clinic and I will continue to highly recommend this place to everyone!

This Vet is awesome! They are excellent at communicating what is happening with your pet. I have a very young dog with no issues and a very old one with many issues. They have went above and beyond to see me quickly when she has something going on. Also she had a seizure on a Sunday afternoon and I was able to call and get advice from a vet with one call. That to me is priceless. I also like all their email updates and online accessibility via the app. I changed to them after being with the same vet for 8 years. There is no comparison to the level of service we have recieved.

Dr. Brazen and staff couldn’t have been more wonderful and gracious. I would highly recommend Shelby Veterinary Hospital to any pet parent.

We love the care our dogs get at Shelby vet ... I called in a Friday after my dog have 3 days of “digestive issues” ... and they were able to take my pup to be seen within the half hour. Dr. Lyon is always very informative and thorough with her assessment and treatments and then the staff will always call within a few days to check up on their patient. Highly recommend this great place!

Dr. Blough was extremely thorough and provided great care to my puppy. She and the whole staff at Shelby veterinarian hospital had great bedside manner; they were very professional kind and helpful. Couldn’t have asked for more! Thank you. Highly recommend to everyone.
