Initially I called Sit Means Sit because they earned high ratings on the internet. I was completely unfamiliar with professional dog training. Then Lisa answered the phone and everything came into focus. Lisa was extremely friendly, …

Sit Means Sit is a wonderful, caring facility. Each trainer takes the time to meet the individual needs of each dog. Dogs are shown love and compassion while learning structure and boundaries. I would recommend this facility 10 times over!

My mistake, I confused you with someone else. I have since spoke with some of your clients and they are very happy with your services. I sincerely apologize!

From our initial inquiry about training to the end of puppy class, we felt truly attended to and received so many benefits from Sit Means Sit. We were impressed with the attentive administrative responses- always following up with emails or phone calls making sure we were ready for our first puppy class. The trainers were SO professional and the class was everything and MORE! We received handouts and questions answered; puppy play time and hands on training- not “watch and do this at home.” Trainers were friendly, helpful and easy to talk to. We learned so much in this class and our puppy “Lily” was excited to go every week. We have signed up for additional 1:1 training! We highly recommend any training with this organization! You and your pup/dog will be pleased!

We did the puppy class with our black lab and absolutely loved it. The trainers were incredibly professional and established a good foundation for training. It was a great course to learn the basic commands and answer any puppy related questions.

Editing my review due to the level of customer service I received. I do believe this program works great and all the trainers have been helpful and patient. I'm thrilled my dog and I will be able to attend more group classes! I have mixed thoughts on this program. I selected the 4 private classes which then comes with 6 months of group classes. Yes, my dog is much better behaved. The trainers were very patient. Do I think the price is worth it? ... no. I justified the price of 4 private 1 hour sessions with the 6 months of group classes we would be able to attend. Once my dog was cleared to attend group class the next available class was a month out. I signed up for the "waitlist" on multiple classes over that month wait and never once received an email notification saying a spot opened up. You can only book 2 classes at a time and then have to book a couple weeks out again for the next available class. For the amount of dogs that are going through this program, there are not enough group classes.

2/3 of the way done with Mac’s day training program and the outcome is already more than we ever imagined! We can’t believe the positive change in our dog! No more barking and jumping on strangers, no more chasing the vacuum, amazing recall and obedience!

Great experience with our four month old lab puppy. The instructors were outstanding and very attentive to our questions. They had many creative exercises for us to do with our pups. Definitely highly recommend

We just finished the puppy class at Sit Means Sit and it was a fantastic experience! The trainers are very hands on, more than willing to answer any and all questions, often staying over the allotted hour to do so. I loved that they focus on training the owner as much as the dog because you are a team with your puppy and one cannot succeed without the other!

We enrolled our puppy in the AKC Star Puppy Classes and it was the best decision!! We learned so many valuable lessons over the 6 weeks and really saw a huge improvement in our pup’s obedience and overall demeanor. The trainers were excellent and were always ready to help and answer any and all questions we had. We look forward to continue training with Sit Means Sit with one of their adult programs. Thank you!! -Saint and family

We took our Golden to SMS mainly because we were having issues with heeling and recall. After his first day of training, we saw immediate changes to his behavior and we now feel confident to take him out on long walks. The staff was very friendly and loving with Channing! We highly recommend SMS and would take our dogs here again for any training needed!

We brought our 4 year old Havanese to Sit Means Sit for the day training program in hopes to break the little dog syndrome he developed. It was SO worth it and beyond exceeded our expectations. Mutz was so great to work with and you can tell she truly knows her stuff and loves dogs. We're excited to continue group classes.

Tanya & Lisa in the office was extremely helpful and patient with me. They explained everything and made me feel so comfortable with making my decision about getting my puppy trained. After our conversation I was sold because of the kindness and professionalism I was shown over the phone. I mention that the cost was a bit expensive but they are really willing to work with you on making payment, which I really liked. Overall they were amazing! Thank you for being so kind to me! :)

After reaching out to multiple trainers who refused to work with or were disinterested in working with our Belgian Malinois, we were referred to Sit Means Sit. Before Sit Means Sit she was afraid of everything which made her scary to live with. She is not a fur baby - she is a high drive working dog. She was getting aggressive and we were reaching a breaking point. We ended up doing 6 days of day training and a year of group classes. This was perfect for her and her situation. I was very hesitant and had LOTS of questions. The office staff was always friendly and helpful. We saw dramatic improvement the first day and every day after. Now we attend group classes which are fun and a great bonding experience for me and her. We went from having a dog who couldn’t leave our house due to reactive behavior and lack of obedience to having a GREAT dog. She has excellent recall and is happy to tag along with us. Proper training like my girl received at Sit Means Sit saved her life. A few weeks ago we experienced a particularly dangerous situation that demonstrates the importance of proper training. While at the park, I noticed a squirrel that was “off”. It was acting drunk and actually began to approach us. I was able to tell her to down away from the possible danger while gathered our stuff quickly and got us out of there. The biggest thing to remember is that training is not a one and done thing. I always appreciate and learn from owners who bring older dogs to group class and demonstrate to everyone that training is never done. It’s something you keep on top of. The trainers are wonderful and it’s clear they are rooting for the success of the owners and the dogs.

I have had only good experiences at Sit Means Sit. I have two dogs who attend weekly group classes there and have been a client for over 4 years. My dogs love going to class and the trainers are so supportive. We loved it so much we got lifetime classes for our older dog and may also plan to continue with our younger dog after his year of classes is finished. At first my husband and I thought maybe it was too pricey to go, but it has been totally worth it. The trainers know what they are doing, if you follow their advice and go to class regularly, your dog will make great progress!

It started with fostering a 5 year old lab, then 2 months later, a 1 year old pit bull/ lab mix which resulted in complete chaos. No previous training and bad behavior (not being able to walk on a leash and destroying many things in the house) initiated my search for a trainer. I was referred to SMS and scheduled a consultation. I was slightly hesitant because of the collars used, but during the consult I was able to experience it myself. I signed up and haven't stopped training with SMS since I adopted them both. A couple of years later, I adopted a pit bull mix rescue puppy and immediately put her in puppy class. My dogs have experienced the day train program, puppy class and the immersion program. All 5 star!! Learning to use the collar CORRECTLY was key and my dogs know the day begins with putting them on. They get so excited they actually go to the counter and "nose up" to tell me where I left them the night before. Now they function mostly off leash and off collar. Everyone I have encountered at SMS in Rochester has been knowledgeable, helpful and caring. It's obvious they love dogs. Training with SMS was the best decision I made for my dogs; when I'm out walking all 3 together, people we encounter comment on my well behaved dogs.

We attend weekly group class with our young German shepherd. In just a few months, we got so many compliments from our neighbors how well our Kaya behaves. That would not have been possible without the help from Nick, Natalie and David. You guys taught us how to teach Kaya! Thank you! We will for sure continue - and would do it again!

We just finished the day training program with our 7 month old golden doodle and can not say enough wonderful things about Sit Means Sit. Our trainers Marie and Mutz were absolutely amazing! So calm and gentle. After just one day of training, walks with our dog are much more enjoyable. No more pulling! Even though our dog is still a puppy, she left training as a more mature dog that can focus around distractions and listens to commands. What I loved most about this program, is that I also got a mini lesson at at the end of each day to help keep the success going at home. We are very pleased with our training and look forward to continuing with SMS for group classes!

Sit means sit changed our doggo for the better! They gave us the proper tools to start training our excited boy more effectively. We did day training and really enjoyed the flexibility. Mutz was our trainer and she was beyond sweet and patient with us and our stubborn boy. Mutz was always ready to answer our questions and made us more confident in training Astro. I would recommend them and her to ANYONE. People need to understand that this isn’t a “quick fix” for your dog. This will take time and consistency to fix, which requires both you and your dog to step up! They have training weekly for free for a year with the option we picked and we will be continuing this journey with Astro with Sit Means Sit.

Our dog is four weeks into the puppy training program and we’ve already seen an incredible difference in her behavior! The trainers are attentive and knowledgeable. The classes are enjoyable and are a great way to socialize your puppy.

The transformation of our pup was outstanding. Prior to sit means sit training our Dalmatian would tug and pull us down the street when trying to take her for a walk, beg at the table for food and would bark endlessly at windows while people would walk by. 24 hours after she has been home, I’m happy to say a mile walk with no issues! Right by my side and attentive and didn’t lose focus on any outside distractions. Also was able to place her while we ate our dinner with no begging. Sit means sit gave us the tools to be successful, the rest is up to us! Highly recommend there training.

We’re so thankful for the whole team at SMS Metro Detroit! Enrolling in their immersion program allowed us to expand our pup’s world giving him the confidence and tools to explore the world with us! The group classes are always fun, supportive, productive, and a great way to allow for safe socialization. We always feel welcomed and like family when we’re at SMS!!

This place is amazing. My Golden Retriever puppy was 8.5 months old when I brought him in for day training. Prior to bringing him to Sit Means Sit he was out of control, many people, including his vet said he was out of control, and some even went as far as to say he could never be trained. After the first day he was dramatically better, after the first week (two days) the non-believers were in disbelief at how different he was. We go to group class every week and I work with him everyday and he's a different dog, and this is just the beginning. His day trainer, Mutz, was the best. All the trainers are wonderful and very quick to help and guide as we continue to work towards Kona being a dog that amazes people with his great manners. He is still a puppy but at least he's not dragging me out the door and sits and waits until I give him the command to move with me. I am beyond happy and pleased with the trainers and giving me the tools and knowledge to have a GREAT dog. Thank you Sit Means Sit!!!

Sit Means Sit has given us the tools to train our tiny but aggressive dog Tyson. Trainers are friendly, professional and offer lots of constructive critique. We are looking forward to taking more class and training is worth every penny.

We've been attending the puppy classes at Sit means Sit for the past 5 weeks. Tracy and Natalie are great instructors, always take the time to answer your questions and teach you how to teach your pup to obey your commands and be better behaved. Although he's still a pup who is learning everyday, we have seen a great difference in how he interacts with us and how we work with him as well all thanks to the guidance of the instructors.

We have been attending sit means sit for puppy classes for the past 4 weeks. Within that time my puppy went through his first fear phase of stranger danger. They gave great advice on how to work through this phase with my puppy and have given tremendous support throughout training! Definitely recommend coming in for puppy classes!

I have had two dogs attend the puppy classes both with great success! The trainers are knowledgeable, personable, and happy to answer any questions a new puppy owner may have. Both of my dogs are better off for the socialization they experienced here and the training instructions I received on how to raise a happy and cooperative puppy.
