Their prices are higher than other vet offices, for one. We had originally been a part of the vaccines for life that gave us the 4 core vaccines free every year with paid exam fee, but we were unable to get updated shots during the pandemic and we were not allowed to continue the service due to that. They are no longer doing the vaccines for life for new patients and apparently not for old ones either. When I said I would have to look for services elsewhere, they didnt try to keep my business or offer any deals. We found another vet that is cheaper with very friendly staff: Animal Clinic, Inc. of Grand Rapids near Division and 28th intersection.

They are great. Good facilities. Cost might be higher than some, but I'm not sure.

Update: we did have a great experience when our greyhound went in for a dental cleaning and extractions. We've had great experiences with our cats for 3 years. However when we brought our newly adopted dog in for a baseline wellness check up, we had the opposite experience. We adopted from a reputable rescue who had all the dog's paperwork and health history and she was up to date on her shots. The vet tech told me that there was one that wasn't up to date and I was confused but figured the vet knows more than me. They ended up giving multiple vaccinations (including rabies, which I know was up to date). I was given my money back for the rabies shot but the experience was very off putting.

There has GOT to be a better run veterinarian out there. I'd look else where folks.

Having been to another vet now, I realize how lacking this vet is with customer relations and providing the animals with a stress free experience. Some staff members are nice but overall would not go back.

Very kind people! While this isn't our regular vet office, we have been there a couple of times for ultrasounds. They were very caring and helpful!

We love Dr.Zylstra and so does our 2 pitties! Sadie and Scarlet "light up" when told they're going to the Dr! ???? The staff is wonderful! We will be rescuing 1 or 2 pups very soon and are proud to bring them here!

Always very knowledgeable, quick to get our dog in anytime we need something checked out, great about reminding us when things are due(immunizations, tests, etc) overall, a great place to take your pet!

Terrible. Told them my cat could have vestibular disease and so they diagnosed him with it instead of checking to make sure it wasn’t something else. They should be embarrassed and ashamed to have no hearts or souls.

A great place to take your dog or cat. They are exercising strict safety procedures during Covid. I highly recommend them.

Brought my older dog in for teeth cleaning and had to get 15 extractions. They were thoroughly professional and took very good care of her. The team went over all the information and was very detailed and did a great job. highly recommend and also recommend that you get their teeth cleaned once a year!

I feel this place is really expensive. However, I've been going here a little over a year because they definitely take excellent care of my babies.

My wife and I brought our cat,Ginger into the clinic due to her limping. The staff was first rate, and the vet was awesome. They discussed several options with us, and we don’t think she could have had better treatment anywhere. We are totally satisfied with the service and care.

It bums me out to give a 2 star review here, but definitely necessary after the disrespect that we encountered after 4+ years of trust and loyalty to Kentwood Veterinary Clinic. Our first few years seeing Dr. Zylstra with our sweet, playful Chocolate Lab were great. Dr. Zylstra is great at what he does. However, in the last year or so I began to notice that the vet techs would take Bentley to another room for her weight, then would come back some time later and ALL of her procedures (vaccines, eye exams, cyst removal, depending on what we were there for at the time) would all be done by the time she got back to the room. I thought the first few incidents were just flukes, maybe it was just more convenient to do it this way? I finally had to speak up about it after an incident when I brought Bentley in for a regular visit. I pointed out a small bump on her back to the Dr. They took her into the other room to “take her weight” and the Dr. returns Bentley with the CYST IN HIS HAND, and a huge chunk of her fur shaved off! They never informed me that they would be completing this procedure. Had they informed me, I of course would have agreed, but it’s important for me to be fully informed of what you are doing with my dog, ESPECIALLY when you are making the decision to do this in a totally separate area. After speaking up about this, I was finally informed by the receptionist that there was a note in the system to separate Bentley from her owners due to some type of “aggressive” incident (which they will not elaborate on). I have taken Bentley to the vet almost every single visit, and I have never once seen any sign of aggression toward any member of their staff (not to mention, toward any human, ever). I called them again after another visit over the weekend for an ear infection. In this incidence, we learned that they have also been muzzling Bentley (again, good to know!). This time when I brought up my concerns, they followed up a few days later with a response from Dr. Zylstra himself... “there are obviously trust issues so it’s probably best if you take Bentley elsewhere for her veterinary needs”. Probably for the best. But, it’s very disappointing to hear that after 4 years, they are so willing to leave us in the dust. All because I communicated my concerns openly with them in hopes to come to a reasonable resolution.
