These people are amazing! My dog was attacked on a Saturday afternoon, I had to bring her here because it was the only place open. I was a mess. They put a pheromone bandana on my dog to calm her and got her in so fast. A couple years later I got a puppy who started throwing up a bunch, they reassured me after I called twice to monitor her. They were so nice and talked me off the ledge. These ladies are amazing and need a raise!

Wouldn't recommend this vet to an enemy! Sat for over 2 hours, did parvo test and pushed into signing up for a credit card instead of offering something helpful that could be done. Didn't listen at all to me and the time I spent sitting I could hear laughter from multiple people down the hall. I pulled the plug and left when I went to the restroom and realized we were the only ones there and they were in a room laughing down the hall. Very unprofessional and from reviews I've read they seem to do things like this to bully owners.i own a 6mo old pit bull.

0/10 Unfortunately, our dog had an emergency situation and more unfortunately, BluePearl was the only emergency animal facility that was able to provide the services we needed. We didn’t get the news we had hoped for and ultimately made the decision it was in the best interest of our friend to put him down. I discussed the end-of-life options with the front desk. The option we chose was based upon the description given to me which was the private cremation package at nearly $600.00. We were ok with the cost given the description of what the package included. The description was basically a private cremation, and the remains would be delivered in a beautiful clay pot as well as our pup’s paw print set in clay. One week later I picked up the remains in a cheap tin container with the lid scotch taped on…No clay pot, No paw print. Yes, you read that all correctly. Tin box, lid taped on, no clay pot, no paw print…$600.00 Immediately I called BluePearl who doubled down on their claim that the package came with a paw print, the remains would be in a clay pot and there must have been a mix up…there wasn’t. They weren’t willing to offer any refund for the end-of-life package I ordered. They blamed the cremation house for the error and gave me a dismissive apology. I didn’t pay the cremation house, I paid BluePearl a surcharged rate (I’ve since learned it’s cheaper to take your pet directly to the cremation house) and BluePearl did not deliver what they sold to me. I will never return to, or support, BluePearl and would certainly never recommend them…unless it’s where to avoid.

Highly suggest taking your pet to Bluepearl for surgery needs. Dr. Kyle Kerstetter conducting TPLO surgery on my dog and I am extremely impressed with their team, from the informative and friendly front desk, to the techs, to the surgery coordinator. They never made me feel rushed through the process and answered all of my questions, made me feel incredibly prepared, and in the know. I received a call before and after surgery from Dr. Kerstetter, which really helped. He was incredibly thorough and took the time to educate me during the call. We are still only a few days into recovery so we have a long road ahead, but I am extremely happy with my experience at Bluepearl and the outcome of her surgery.

We had to unexpectedly put down our dog in the middle of the night. We drove 45 minutes to BluePearl because we couldn't wait for our local vet to open. The ladies working that night were very caring and compassionate. I would highly recommend them if you need emergency care.

Like most corporate entities, I felt their focus was on money, which is not what you want from a vet. Their prices for the procedure were also 15-20% higher than any other facility in the mid and west Michigan area. None of that helped my sweet 10-year old Golden, who developed pneumonia after his procedure and had to be euthanized. If your situation is not an emergency, I encourage you to go elsewhere.

I was completely dismissed with concerns about my cat’s health over the phone. Ally was VERY rude. We’ve waited over a month for an appointment that was pushed out another few days. Vet ordered a CT scan but they scheduled us for an MRI? That’s twice as expensive? I didn’t order that. Also, it’s a pandemic and everyone is suffering, no options for payment plans? No one here truly cares about the quality of life for our pets. They will take your money, though, and not provide you with a darn thing. Update: after a surgical center was able to KEEP our ORIGINAL appointment date, we found in the CT scan something that is definitely classified an emergency. This facility is a joke, and no one here ACTUALLY cares.

We recently brought our 8 month puppy in after he ate part of a leather boot. Instead of monitoring for signs of obstruction, we chose to induce vomiting because our puppy already had a respiratory bug with a decreased appetite and reverse sneezing, this was mentioned to the vet and was disregarded. Less than 24 hours later, our puppy’s respiratory bug has significantly worsened, likely requiring treatment. I called BluePearl back and since the vet chose not to mention the reverse sneezing or decreased appetite in the note they refused to a assist us in a matter that should’ve been assessed 24 hours prior when we paid for the pricy consultation. Although the staff was very kind and we are grateful for the help we did receive, we are less than impressed to have to pay for another vet examination less 24 hours later after a rough night with our puppy. I suggest having them print and not email the note while you are present so you can review the details prior to leaving the facility. Looking forward to another emergency vet opening near our house.

For the most part, they will fix up your fur balls. But they charge ridiculous prices. $160 for a consultation?!? Then a bunch of added costs for every single little thing. No leniency or compassion for peoples' financial situations.

Misdiagnosed my roommates dog causing her to have to put down her FOUR YEAR OLD pitty. Then refused to take any accountability and having put a “do not treat” warning on my roomies name. So when she frantically brought her other dog at 4am to Blue Pearl with a severe allergic reaction, she was turned away. God forbid her dog was dying and they turned her away… which then they wouldn’t take accountability for either! I do not recommend

The staff at BluePearl 24 hour emergency helped me with three of my barn cats. They were poisoned and humane euthanasia was honestly the only option they had without suffering long term effects. The staff was so gentle, kind, caring, and understanding. They made a hard situation a bit easier with their compassion. I appreciate every staff member who helped with my cats. Thank you.

They're scam artists. Try to book a non-emergency visit to see a specialist and they'll tell you you can't. All so they can charge you double the cost to book the appointment as an emergency. Go to Michigan State University's small animal clinic instead.

My Westie was attacked by another dog on Thursday night. We contacted multiple vets in the area, but they were all closed and did not offer emergency services. Blue Pearl was able to see us almost right away after contacting them. Everyone was super helpful the entire night. I am so thankful for how kind and thoughtful the vet techs and doctors were. I ended up having to leave him there for a few hours for surgery. They called me immediately after surgery to be picked up and I was sent home with detailed steps for recovery. The office was very clean and I appreciated how dog friendly the techs were.

This place has no empathy. All they care about is making money off your feelings and the suffering of your pet.

Referred to the oncologist due to my giant having lymphoma. My apt was at 8 am no one spoke to me until 815, when I asked if the apt needs to be later since they aren't ready at 8 was told they had to review my records but then the assistant had to ask me for information, in those records not verification. They have had the records for 3 weeks to reference. Once spoken to the vet, she did not make sense as far as a treatment plan, when I asked questions, I was given attitude. She recommended to stop treatment then informed me of the cost of giving said treatment. I again asked about this and she mentioned continuing for 12 months instead of the 6 she recommends as my dog responded to chemo, but yet even though she doesn't recommend chemo past 6 months to do it for 12? So confusing. Previous vet had allowed us in home treatment to reduce cost, this vet refused. At this point she also was asking me what doses of medication to prescribe as they had not verified his records or information prior to my appointment. When I questioned this I was given a rude response that I can go to someone else. If a child has cancer and moves drs I'm pretty sure the dr would review those records before asking the patient what dose they should have. During which time I went into pay as they won't allow people inside, which makes communication extremely difficult. They are a 24 hr facility that turned away someone with an emergency with no compassion and barely helped the older lady find a different option. The vet came out was very cold person as she gave me my dog. I did not want to talk further as I was so upset, I was holding back tears. Do not go here, they see no compassion to circumstances of someone with a very sick pet, that's like family, no patients to help you understand or take the time to help. Do not take initiative with making sure they are prepared and ready to treat. This vet just seemed arrogant and heartless to my questions and dogs needs. This person should not be working with animals obviously the incentive us money based and not the basic compassion for keeping pets healthy or understanding how to work with someone in a difficult time of essentially determine how long their pet will live. Obviously the money isn't an issue as my dog has cancer that is not going to ever go away but being taken advantage of for that is sick. I'll drive across the state if needed to find someone who seems to care my 3 yr old dog is dying. 11.4.21 Vet could not give straight clear treatment plan. When requested clarification again repeated same thing and got very short. When confronted with lack of confidence got extremely frustrated eventually hung up.. Vet tech called and she instantly got angry with me because I was in tears, no empathy but defensive, once she read the "diagnosis" I asked what the exact plan was. She couldn't figure it out either. I said if I get a solid plan I'm happy to follow it that's why I came. She came back and finally told me the a Solid timeline plan. When I asked if she could of told that from the notes. She said she wouldn't comment. Which was clear she couldn't either. Now they are refusing my dog care because I requested a confident plan and if they didn't have one; I'd understand if they weren't surewhat to do, but admit that and we can make one together. Apparently pride is more important then the life of the dog. Was I frustrated yup, was the vet with my question yup are these hard times definetly. I am sorry I wasn't easy to talk to but I'm not sorry I asked for honesty even if it was admitting defeat. Cancer is aweful no one is God. Do vets always know the answer, nope. But humility goes a long way towards compassion. Now they are refusing him care. So if you ask hard questions want clear plans and push for that, they will deny your pet treatment. Upon receiving the paperwork post appointment they even filled it out wrong stating he got chemo when he didn't and needed to return tomorrow. Pretty HUGE error after all that stress.

It was a really hard day, but the staff at Blue Pearl was exceptional. The entire process was very well done. Our 16 year old cat's final hours were peaceful and calm and handled very lovingly.

I have had two dogs be regular patients at this facility. Dr. Swanson was amazing and very compassionate. Other than her, I have not had a very good experiences here. I had two dogs diagnosed with Osteosarcoma within 2 weeks of each other in the fall of 2019 and had to have legs removed. We went through Chemotherapy and one has since passed. My remaining dog has other health problems and was being treated by the Internal Medicine doctor. When I contacted the office with updates on my dog and looking for other options, it took almost a week to get a response (I am not upset about that, I understand staffing issues everywhere and they're always busy), I had to send a couple emails and call. Once I finally got a call back I was told to put her back on steroids, none of my other concerns were addressed. I was also told I was supposed to have blood work done, apparently I missed that on my paperwork and didn't schedule an appointment to do that, I had an appointment the next day with my home vet. I told the technician that called me that I would have her pull it the next day. I was told if I do that I can no longer consult with the doctor at Blue Pearl. When I asked another question, the response given was for me to discuss it with my home vet. When we were going through chemotherapy, all chest scans and bloodwork were done with my home vet, no issues then, not sure the problem now. I have spent a significant amount of money in this building over the last two years and was basically told to screw off because I was going to get blood drawn at my home vet where my dog is far more comfortable and less stressed. I don't feel that shows much compassion for the animals they treat, especially when stress can make her condition worse.

I am so endlessly grateful for BluePearl. Specifically Dr. Kim and her amazing team. They spent so much time helping me figure out what’s wrong with my dear kitten Theo, and even helped with payment options when I have been having financial difficulties. They helped me out in so many ways and now my sweet boy is already doing so much better after his surgery today. I’m forever grateful for Blue Pearl and these negative reviews are not an accurate reflection of this establishment.

They were AMAZING. I was never for a second wondering what was happening! My puppy turned on a dime and got very sick. When we got there they realized it was serious and took action immediately! The staff was so friendly and kind to us in our panic. The male receptionist (I can’t remember his name unfortunately) was a true blessing. He talked me down several times and walked me through many things. They took excellent care of my baby and answered all my questions! They were also very quick! They are pretty expensive (like most ER Vets) but it was worth it for the care and kindness we received!

Had an appointment with Dr Swanson in the Oncology department after being referred there by my vet. My dog has a mast cell tumor on his leg. Dr Swanson was amazing, She thoroughly talked about options, cost and recovery and I felt very taken care of. While I was in the waiting room, a couple brought a dog in that had been hit by a car and they immediately responded with taking care of that little guy first. I was really impressed and highly recommend Blue Pearl. Honestly they prices are not ridiculous for what they offer with emergency services and specialists.

Unfortunately, my guy has had a couple surgeries with Blue Pearl in Southfield and in Grand Rapids. At both sites the staff is excellent. Very well organized with good communication. They also are flexible for special circumstance. We had to drive quite a ways to get there so they worked with us on surgery timing to make it a one day trip rather than a 2 day trip.

This company exists purely to make profit off the backs of those with animals that need medical attention and suffering. If they aren't going to make hundreds or thousands off your visits, the caring demeanor evaporates. We will never take our pets there again.

They happily took our $800 and won’t answer any of our calls- Dr. Kim specifically. I would never recommend this place to anyone. My dog went in due to cancer, got her tests done, and now (3 weeks later) we are left with no answers nor any treatment options because they won’t answer our calls. Our dog has been decreasing quickly and now it’s too late to look into any surgery option because she’s too weak.

I have been dealing with BluePearl for a while now, as I took my diabetic dog there for cataract surgery. He was almost completely blind before, and can see perfectly again... that truly is amazing to me. Cataract surgery is straight-up expensive, and requires a LOT of follow-up visits unfortunately, so I've dealt with a lot of different people in the Ophthalmology area. I've never had any issues... the staff has always been friendly and knowledgeable. YES they are expensive in general, but unfortunately this is totally normal for emergency vets from my experience. Also they are SUPER clear up front about what to expect for costs. When preparing for cataract surgery, they gave me an itemized list of the costs so that we could decide whether to move forward. And now, I just had to schedule a consultation for my other dog to have hip surgery (Lord, help me) and they told me right up front how much the consultation will cost ($153). And YES they are busy, but who isn't these days? I've personally never had to wait long for any of my scheduled appointments... and again, I've been there many times for follow-up appointments. I live a lot closer to other emergency vets, but choose to drive an hour further to this one. My small town vet (who is absolutely fantastic) had told me to ignore the negative reviews because they really do a phenomenal job... and he was right in my book.

We had to take my poor boy in, with what we didn't know. The staff was absolutely sweet, wonderful, kind, caring and loving through the whole process. We ended up making a very difficult decision with our sweet boy but not after hours of talking to Dr's and talking possible outcomes and chances of survival. They were so patient with us, and gave us all the time we needed to say goodbye when it was time. Wonderful people, wonderful place, really an exceptional experience despite the awful circumstances.
