This is the best vet practice I have found for my cat. I feel that they are really knowledgeable and truly care. Our Dr is amazing and she spent a lot of time with us during the appointment, we never felt rushed. Highly recommend!

My Buddy is diabetic and with the wonderful staff and loving care he’s doing ok. Buddy loves his overnight stays at Kitty camp.

This is the best place for veterinary care and boarding for cats. I have, over the years, boarded six kitties there and have always been so impressed with the care they have gotten. The doctors and staff are clearly very engaged in their work and are professional and kind. Highly recommend The Cat Practice!

After trying 4 different vets out for my long haired FIV positive cat (Nani), I can finally say I found a good one! Today was our first appointment with Dr. Houlihan. She spent time building trust with Nani, answered any questions I had thoroughly without rushing me or coming off condescending, didn’t rush our visit, and treated both Nani and I with kindness and respect. Instead of labeling my cat as aggressive because he gets scared (he’s not aggressive at all, he’s the biggest baby) like other vets have, she put into consideration the characteristics and history of cats themselves. She accepted him just as he is and understood why he was being the way he was. She’s very knowledgeable! I honestly wanted to cry after this appointment because I’ve been through the ringer with vets who treated my cat poorly and gave bad advice in regards to his FIV. It’s been an exhausting process for him and I. Coming to The Cat Practice and seeing how they treat cats was so refreshing and different. ALL cats deserve to be treated the way Dr. Houlihan treats cats. Rachel (the vet tech with Dr. Houlihan) was also amazing. She was so kind and informative as well. She also built trust with Nani and had patience with him as she cut his nails when he got a little sassy. Nani loved them both even on the first nerve racking visit. I can’t say enough good things about my experience here. I wish Dr. Houlihan could open more locations all over so all cats and cat owners could experience this!

I would never take my cat anywhere else., EVER. Dr. Houlihan is the best - I’ve been through at least six cats with her. She’s caring, compassionate, smart, intelligent, doesn’t give up, and just so kind. The other doctors there are great as well. Joel at the front desk is wonderful, at ALL of the veterinary assistants are caring and compassionate. You won’t be sorry. They listen to, and don’t over treat.

A wonderful experience for my cat..and me. Sadie needed surgery and I was very pleased with the aftercare pain management. I remember years ago when pets were sent home with no thought to their suffering. Times have changed for the better. A shout out to Dr Cindy and veterinary nurse Diane.

Dr. Houlihan, Dawn and the staff at The Cat Practice are without question top of the line veterinarian care providers, but what sets them apart is that they genuinely care for, appreciate and love cats which shows in the results of treatment, routine check ups, boarding and how they communicate with both the cats and their humans! The Cat Practice members aren't just our veterinarians - they feel like our family!

I've never had a bad experience at this practice. It's a bit pricey but the quality of the care is worth it.

Great Staff. Kept me informed about my cat and how he was feeling with the stress of being at the vet. Comprehensive descriptions and detailed the issues for me. The drop off process was easy and efficient. I would recommend this vet to any of my friends who have cats. They truly care about the animals and it really shows.

I love bringing my fur babies to the Cat Practice, and have been for the past ~3 years or so! I can tell that everyone there has an immense love for cats. The staff, techs, and veterinarians are all attentive to my cats and pick up on their personality traits in such a short time, which is impressive. I appreciate their great service, and the extra-special treats they give my cats for "good behavior" after a visit. Can't recommend highly enough!

I have taken my kitties to the Cat Practice for over 20 years. Dr H is a kind wonderful vet who I trust completely. The techs are wonderful too. They take time with you and are compassionate.

I had my first appointment with The Cat Practice today for my newly adopted former feral cat. I’d say we both had a very positive experience! Because my cat is a former feral, she has some special needs and can be pretty skittish around new people/places, but The Cat Practice handled her in stride and although she arrived nervous, they were able to calm her and do a thorough exam and even clip her nails (which has been a feat I’ve yet to accomplish in full). I’m so happy I chose this vet since they specialize in cats and know how to handle them with care and compassion no matter what their background/history. The techs and vet were extremely knowledgeable and gave me a thorough breakdown of everything they did and suggestions for preventative care and future treatments. None of this was done under pressure and they seem to be very respectful of individuals financial situations which I really appreciate especially during these times of uncertainty. They gave me options for her care and answered all of my questions thoroughly. I didn’t feel rushed. They made sure I understood the condition my cat has and helped me feel more calm about it. All of this left me feeling very confident in the practice and that my cat was treated with respect and care. She left calmer than she went in and it seemed like they really tried to make her feel comfortable with treats and nip! I am so glad I opted to go to The Cat Practice. I’ll be returning for all my cats needs in the future and recommending them to friends. I can’t thank them enough for making mine and my cats experience so easy and pleasant. Some additional notes: - They’re doing curbside right now due to COVID. Personally I loved it, but I know some people are weird about it. They handled it really well and I was able to do some grocery shopping at the local Kroger while the vet examined my cat. My cat was taken in almost immediately after I called to say I arrived, so it didn’t stress her out by having to wait in a car longer than necessary which was great. - Appointment scheduling was very easy over the phone and everyone I’ve talked to there has always been so polite and kind! This doesn’t go unnoticed and is very appreciated because it’s never fun trying to schedule an appointment with rude staff (at other doctors offices or wherever - I’ve had my fair share of bad encounters, but not at The Cat Practice! Everyone was very nice). They told me exactly what to bring. - The vet gave me some samples for options to help manage/prevent some of my cats issues from getting worse. Really loved this because we all know how finicky cats can be and it’s nice to be able to try before purchasing!

They take extra time to make our nervous kitties comfortable during exams. I would never take my cats anywhere else.

I have been going to the Cat Practice for many years. They really care about cats, and show it in every way. They spend as much time as necessary to address your concerns, explain everything, and make you and your pet feel at ease. I have a very difficult cat. He goes crazy when he goes to the vet: scratching, howling, and biting anyone who comes near him. Dr. Hoolihan is amazing with him. She sits down on the floor and speaks soothingly to him to calm him down. As slowly and gently as possible, she reassures him, and gets the job done, despite his attacks. No one else would touch this cat, once he gets scared. She knows just what to do, and even though it takes a long time, she makes him as comfortable as she can. You won't find a better vet!

The people that work here love and understand cats. Having a vet that will sit on the floor with your cat and play with them gives you a sense that they want you and your cat to feel safe and welcome. They are always kind and willing to listen, and give advice on things that can be difficult to deal with as a pet owner.

I am very happy with the care The Cat Practice provides my cat. Dr. Houlihan is extremely knowledgeable and caring. She recommended a compounded medication for my cat that could be applied to her ear. She hosts learning events and a newsletter that really demonstrate top knowledge of her field. Her professionalism in handling my concerns is top notch. I view her as a role model for women. Above all, my 17 year cat loves her.

I have used the Cat Practice for several years, mostly for boarding, and both I and my Abbie have been very pleased. She goes for regular mani-pedi too. Staff is so friendly and caring and this is always a good experience. Highly recommended.

The Cat Practice of Birmingham has been a perfect fit for me and my cat SoShe. Very clean environment! And the staff is always so friendly on the phone and in the office. I took my cat in during the Covid-19 pandemic and the Cat Practice was extremely accommodating and professional. I was very comfortable in having to wait in the car while they took care of my cat. I would highly recommend this office to any cat owner!

Obviously a little different with C-19 distancing etc but they were champs! So friendly and helpful. Just started at this vet last year and very glad we switched our two cats!

Excellent, cat only vet. Only downside is it can be a little pricy.
