I think we had a great experience! During these Covid times I thought the curbside drop off and pick up was was a good plan to have in place and it was done easily with the staff knowing exactly how to make it run smoothly for Paulie and I. Dr. Holmes was wonderful and so patient with explaining what was going on with Paulie. We laughed a bit and I got some good information on how to make some changes for the wellbeing of my bird. I wont hesitate to send anyone there or to return there myself! Wonderful people! Amazing place! Thank you all!

I honestly can't think of anything that would be an improvement, especially considering these difficult COVID days Dr Holmes has a good way of keeping the clinics employees safe and still caring for our pets! Thanks !!

Holmes Family Vet is one of the only places on the south shore that take care of exotic pets. I bring my 2 bunnies and 2 dogs to them. The staff is wonderful. I wish they saw humans too :)

We have a tortoise named Mikey and he's considered an "exotic pet". They took Mikey as a patient immediately. We've been using this office for a couple of years now. The vet did a full exam on him and he is a very healthy happy tortoise. The exam was cost friendly. I'd recommend this office for its professional and friendly employees.

Like this place, like the vets I've interacted with, but the wait time to get them to see an animal could be somewhat on the longish side: after the pandemic start they schedule appointments week or 2 in the future, even if it's a problem, not a regular visit... They also started charging fees for using CC a couple of months ago.

Always excellent to our pets. They are courteous and professional, while still being personable and pleasant to deal with. They also work with all our animals, including our bunnies, bird, and dogs. Thor, our yellow lab, is always excited when we pull up. I can't recommend them more highly.

Dr. Smolka is wonderful w/ my 2 guinea pigs, Loki & Snickers! Snickers just broke off his 2 front teeth and isn’t eating and she was great at explaining step by step what needs to be done so his condition doesn’t get worse. She talked to poor Snickers during the exam which is so cute and makes the client feel at ease. You can tell she cares about animals greatly! Thank you!!!

Extremely compassionate and wonderful people. I spent probably the worst couple of hours of my life here last month when I had to unexpectedly put my rabbit to sleep after he started declining rapidly, but the doctor and technician made the process as easy as they possibly could. They also waited to have me take care of the bill until later and sent a sympathy card. I'm very grateful to have taken him here.

I just can't say enough about this clinic, especially and specifically Dr. Kate Smolka. She and the team went out of their way to help us and made sure our little boy's transition was a peaceful one for him and us. I can't thank you all enough for all you've done. We feel so lucky to have found this vet.

MIXED FEELINGS EDIT: I was contacted by the vet the next day and we discussed my initial review. Like I said, she is knowledgeable and passionate about what she does. So, she goes the extra mile to ensure your animal's health. If you are able to afford the extra, I say this is a good place. I would still suggest asking about the price of each test ahead of time so no surprises and affordability. Also, lab tests are done off-site so expect a bit of a wait for results. While I do think the vet is knowledgeable, she certainly did not have a friendly disposition. She was distant and clinical. The overall cost of the visit was much higher than expected. It would have been nice to have a heads up about pricing before being charged hundreds of dollars for each test and swab. Finally, they told me that one of my birds had a possibly very dangerous and infections condition that could even be transmitted to humans. I then agreed to another expensive culture and was promised a call in a few days. A week later and I am still waiting to hear what my sweet bird has and be able to treat and interact with him again. I don't mind paying a fair amount as I love my birds and I want what's best for them. But, I was not expecting a bill for 700 dollars and a long anxious wait for results.

The staff is wonderful with my dog. My only complaint is the pricing. A bit more than most good vets. And its 25 to cut jis nails. Most vets its free with their visit or 10 max. I love this place. But pricing should be adjusted to fit the average.

In grief I originally wrote a review that was unfair. My dog left me on Friday, unbeknownst to me, after lots of research to find some comfort in what had happened, my dog had suffered for years with Tracheal Collapse, in the last few months it became progressively worse, until Friday morning he woke, ran, and sounded like he was suffocating. There were some other changes in his behavior that became more unusual, and he was 16. When the Dr administered the medication, it was not what I had experienced in the last 2 of my beloved animals passings, of course my little boy was always a soldier. After some long reflection, I'm not sure I could perform the work the Dr and staff so delicately tried to space out with some time to breath. For me it was my dearest baby boy, for the Dr and staff, its much more complicated. I want to thank the Dr and staff, I'm devastated in my loss, but you all do this everyday, with very different circumstances in each one. It is work I am grateful you all do from the compassion within your hearts.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Holmes family veterinary clinic It is very hard to find a knowledgeable exotic vet. I am so happy I found Holmes. Dr. Warner was amazing and knowledgeable with sugar gliders. Our first time here was for My boy “Riffraff” (sugar glider) who had previously had his left led amputated by another vet but he was having Complications bruising and a lot of swelling at the amputation site. I chose to take him to see dr Warner. She did a complete and thorough exam with several tests etc. we have a follow up In 2 weeks and are excited to see her again to discuss out next step in this (riffraffs) complicated case that she is comfortable and confident with taking us on. I am a Usda licensed Sugar glider breeder and I will definitely continue using them for all of my gliders I am so happy I have found them.

I loved the sense of emergency and concern from the doctor. I loved the communication. I received calls with updates and everything I needed to have and especially the courtesy discounts. Good job!

Very knowledgeable and compassionate staff. It’s hard to find a great avian vet, even harder to find one who can treat parrots and poultry equally well. Incredibly lucky to have them so close.

Been coming here for years efficiently run but can be a little on the pricey side

Holmes Family Veterinary Clinic is the finest for animal care. The staff truly loves taking care of our voiceless family members. They are thorough, knowledgeable and caring. Your pets are in good hands here.

It is difficult enough to find a good avian veterinarian. (although they treat numerous types of pets/animals). It is a rare find to find one as good as Karen Holmes, DVM, along with her staff. They are kind, courteous, love their work and the animals that they treat. Their competence is at the highest level and you leave there not only with a pet that is well cared for, but you always learn something to your pet's great benefit. Even my parrot, who can be difficult with strangers, calmly let them groom and treat her. They have earned my highest recommendation.

I bring my chickens here. Yes, chickens! Holmes Veterinary is SO good, gentle, and thorough. I highly recommend their services. I am so thankful for what they do and how they do it. I now bring my dog with spinal issues and chronic ear infections. In one visit, Holmes cleared up the infections, after 3 visits with my former vet. Holmes is the place to go.

Dr Fiske is really good. She’s very good with cats with diabetes. I cant say anything negative. So far everyone has been so nice to me and my Jinx.Everyone there is good with animals and their people. That's the best! And I mean everyone there. The Dr.s are very caring and thorough. They listen, and their prices are up front and transparent.

Took great care of my birds. Great communication, very friendly and professional. The price was very fair also.
