A great experience always! The employees there are so nice. Not being able to go in due to covid, it would be nice to have somewhere to lock a dog up to while signing a form or paying or anything. But otherwise, no complaints!

OVERPRICED - Chose this vet clinical for my puppy in 2021 since it was in the neighborhood and appeared to be a busy but reliable place and many good reviews here on Google. I received seemingly decent priced vaccines and other care for a new puppy. I requested a quote for spay/neutering after my dog's 1yr birthday and the price was astronomical - $950 to $1200 estimated cost for a 9lb dog? I agree with other reviewers that this center charges a lot of extra fees that contribute to high prices.

Second time I have brought a pet here and they are amazing kind and caring for the animal. They also make sure to answer any questions or concern if I have one. Thank you.

Quick, efficient appointments and friendly caring staff! Due to COVID pet parents are still not allowed inside the building. The staff is very communicative and does everything they can to make both you and your pet comfortable.

Everything was really good, doctor called with detailed explanations after blood work and urine analysis. Only downside is we did an x ray and have been waiting for the last week for results, and still haven't gotten them. Besides that though, the vet techs were super helpful and forthcoming, as were the admins answering the phone. Doctor was good too, really responsive and communicative. Definitely using them as my cat's vet now.

We have been coming here for 3 years. There are kind and caring vet techs!! They can get you in pretty quick if you have an emergency with you pet. Only downside is management seems to be driven by money. Estimates and costs of services are much higher compared to surrounding vet clinics. There has been no room to discuss financials when inquiring about estimate costs. I’m going to need a couple teeth pulled for my pup and will be looking elsewhere for the surgery:(

Unfortunately we have had a continuous bad experience here. The vet does not keep updated records of vaccinations or follow up visits. Our puppy got the lyme/tick vaccination and needed a booster three weeks later. I called to make the second appointment and they told me we did not need to come back in. We listened to them and did not make a second appointment. Today we went in for a check up for an unrelated matter, they told us that because we never got the booster shot that we needed to start the vaccination over again and it would have to come out of our pocket. We told them about our previous conversation with the vet tech about not needing a second appointment. They told us they had no record of this conversation and had to charge us for the new vaccination and booster. It is very disappointing that they do not keep accurate notes and records of their patients. We will not be returning.

We’ve taken our dog and cat here since early 2020 and have been generally pleased with the service. Bills always seemed high but we never thought much of it as we have little insight into what these things cost. Our dog was recently impaled by a stick in the shoulder/chest and we took her to VEG downtown (HIGHLY recommend) and they performed surgery to remove the foreign object and sent us home the next morning with her. They left a small drain in her wound that they explained could be removed FREE of charge by them or our personal Vet (who had recommended we go to VEG for the emergency in the first place) within the next three days. When we took her to Somerville Vet Center they called and explained that the removal would cost $150. I was confused and told them I would pick up our dog and take her to VEG for the removal. When I showed up to pick up our dog I was told we owed $75. I asked for what, seeing as nothing had been done and we had denied the service. They provided a very stock and unthoughtful response and said I had signed paperwork to pay any and all fees when I dropped her off. They refused to have a dialogue with me and are refusing to release our pets records. I bluntly asked if it was worth losing two satisfied customers with two young healthy animals and they said yes. Lengthy, I know, but this place is bottomline driven and could care less about their customer retention or satisfaction. There is a reason they’re one of the few Vets in town with new patient availability.

So thrilled with the entire team at Somerville Veterinary Clinic. The vet techs are so personable (esp. Oliver!), the veterinarians return our calls quickly, and the front desk will answer any question they can, or find the answer for you quickly. We feel like they know our two kitties personally and would recommend them in a heartbeat.

I've been taking my dog here for many year's. The staff and doctor's are nice but it's so hard to get appointments when my dog is sick.what good is it to have a vet that can't see your dog when she's sick. Also they seem to be getting very pricey.I also don't like how they constantly change vet's.

When my dog is sick they are always too busy to see them. They send me to the emergency vet. Terrible service

I love this team. They are always kind, take time to answer questions by phone/email/in-person, are very queer-friendly, and timely with appointments. They also explain the charges and ask for your consent before proceeding. I'm so glad I chose this as my vet clinic!

So my cat is a little over a year now. He’s been seen twice by this vet both times during the pandemic. We’ve been happy so far. My cat is in good health so far thank goodness so we haven’t had to get any expensive testing or anything which is good. Both well visits went well and were inexpensive. His shots were a little pricey so someone recommended petco to me for that so maybe I’ll do that for yearly shots in the future. But for everything else my family’s been happy. I’ll stay unless I have a reason not to.

Came in for my first visit with my dog after a recommendation from a friend. The fecal sample I had brought them came up positive for a parasite. They had these results on Sunday, my visit was one day before on Saturday. I never received a call informing me of these results. It was only when I called in myself that I found out these results four days later. While speaking with them on the phone they claimed "oh we have in our records on your account that we had spoken directly to you about it". Short story, I had never received that call. Either they spoke with a different client, or just flat out never called me and marked it that they did. On top of that I had asked for a quote to get my dog spayed, never received this until I had to ask again. I was then quoted out 800-1200 dollars, ridiculously expensive for a 15 pound dog. Went to another vet and was quoted 250-500. They seem to have good reviews, and I may have caught them on a bad day, but my experience was definitely worth 0 stars.

Beware if you are a new patient! I had an appointment and received a voicemail about a new patient fee that wasn't anywhere on their website or booking system. I called about the fee and they said they started charging $150 after folks started adopting pet during COVID (I understand supply and demand but this isn't the stock market). For what it's worth, in my opinion they’re just taking advantage of people and animals in a really unethical way by doing price surges. This isn’t Uber on Saturday night.

They diagnosed and treated my 1yr old (and otherwise healthy) cat with FIC after a comprehensive $600 testing (x rays and labs, no renal problems, no blockage, no crystals). With pain/anti-spasm medication he got well (plus antibiotics "just in case" since there was no sign of infection). They told me that if the symptoms came back we could try diet changes, more pain/stress medication, and other interventions. After a couple of days off the meds (still on antibiotics) the symptoms came back. Their assistant called asking for another urine culture. I wanted first to talk to the vet and discuss whether their original recommendation (pain/spasm/stress meds and/or environment changes) was worth trying before running additional (and expensive) tests. I wanted to hear what the Dr. had to say, instead of asking questions via the front desk. I waited for three days, called numerous times, left messages, but I could not reach a Dr. (the office tells me they left a voicemail on the second day, but I never got the call). I finally asked the front desk whether they were just avoiding the case, they reassured me "please wait, we'll get back to you shortly". I waited and waited, no answer, while the cat was still having clear signs of urinary problems. Fortunately, another vet accepted him as a patient right away, prescribed medication and diet changes for the condition. In short, extremely disappointed with their service.

This is the best vet I've gone to! The staff is very helpful, understanding, and love your pets like you do! The pricing is also the most reasonable I've faced and they are accommodating when discussing how much you can afford (without making you feel bad about it! Unlike other vets I've seen). I highly recommend this place

They alledgedly do not have restrooms for pet guardians to use while they are there spending hundreds of dollars. WTH. Perposterous! That's the story one of the managers told me. Or do they only allow certain types of people to use the facilities? I'm just saying....

I’ve been unhappy with this vet for about a year and honestly just keep coming back because it’s nearby. I give two stars because most (not all) of the vet techs are good but the doctors always try to upswell me and try to instill panic and urgency to pay for extra treatments. Not only that, but they don’t even trust that you know your own pets and their behaviors! My cat was there a few weeks ago and now his issue is back — I called to schedule an appointment and they said they don’t have time today and I must go to the ER. Welp, I’m back at my old vets now and it’s not as serious as the person on the phone thought it was even though I insisted I could wait for tomorrow AM. Short story: I’m going back across the river to my old vet from now on. These doctors and some of the staff up sell you and scare you. Bye!

I took my newly adopted pup, Kona, here today and was more than pleased with our experience. Amber and Dr. Kennedy were both fantastic and so sweet with Kona. We will definitely be coming back here. I highly recommend Somerville Veterinary Center!
