Expensive, ridiculously expensive, Dog consume 3/4th of a chocolate cake, stole off counter, no signs of distress but mom was worried so off we went to Tufts, $250 to walk through the door, $75 to call for advice from poison control, vet induced vomiting, and listened to heart, added an IV and then put on a very heart warming well rehearsed play on why the dog should stay over night, still, dog showed no signs of distress several hours later, total will better part of 2 grand, it's a sad state of affairs when the people with the knowledge to help will take complete advantage of you financially knowing that you will pay almost anything to fix your furry lived ones...

This rating is based on my experience with Cara Who answered the phone for my emergency follow up questions, was absolutely wonderful, knowledgeable, caring, understanding & compassionate.

The quality of care here is truly remarkable. It far exceeds that of human emergency care.

Excellent care and compassion for pets and their families. It is costly but treatment is wonderful and all questions and concerns are addressed. Dr. Schultz was extremely kind and concerned.

I guess its good for an emergency but if you can't afford the bill, then its useless. Tufts wanted $4000 to treat my neighbor's cat, $2000 up front. My neighbor, who is 70 years old, said she couldn't afford this so Tufts put her cat down. When my neighbor asked if she could say goodbye (to her cat), she was told no one is allowed inside the building. This cat kept my neighbor company.

I've had some positive experiences here with my cat, but when I came to the emergency department on Sunday with my hedgehog it went poorly. Basically, I called and asked if they would be able to drain a cyst that my hedgehog had because it had grown and seemed to be causing pain. They said yes, so I drove over. The staff were friendly, but the vet did a bunch of diagnostic testing before he talked to me, then said he couldn't drain the cyst because there were no exotics vets there that day (not because there was anything special about the cyst, just didn't feel comfortable doing that procedure). So nothing was done. I appreciate that the vet didn't do the procedure when he wasn't comfortable with it and I think there was just an honest mistake here. My problem is that they refused to refund me. The ONLY reason I came here was to have the cyst removed. This is why I called before I came. I said I was there for removal to at least 3-4 different people. If someone had communicated with me at any point and said that there was nobody on staff who could remove a cyst, then I wouldn't have had my animal seen. Instead, I paid $225 for diagnostic work I didn't need or want. Also, their fee ($225) is higher than other emergency exotics vets ($115 at VCA South Shore). Also honestly, I would not have come in if I'd known there was no exotics specialist there and I wish they had been clearer about this. I went to them specifically because I wanted to see an exotics specialist. I can find non-exotic specific emergency vets much closer to my house. I'm giving three stars because I think the vets themselves are fine and everyone is friendly/professional, but this entire experience made me pretty angry and I'm still upset about it.

OF COURSE YOU ARE REOPENING THE CRITICAL CARE. NOW YOU CAN CONTINUE BANKRUPTING PEOPLE WHO WILL DO ANYTHING FOR THEIR BELOVED PETS BY CHARGING ABSURD AND UNECESSARY ASTRONOMICAL FEES, AND STRINGING THEM ALONG WHEN THERE IS NO HOPE.

The Master's Program is a total waste of money and a scam. The school doesn't even give you a diploma once you complete the program! Save your cash! Buy a house instead!

It was a very pleasant experience. The nurses and the doctors as well as the billing department were very friendly very accommodating and very easy to talk to and deal with. I would highly recommend Tufts University Oncology Department to anybody who has an animal with a cancer diagnosis.

Sadly we had to say goodbye to our good boy. This loss was so hard on our family and mostly my husband. Dr. Manley truly made this process remarkable. She accommodated us in a way that no other doctor would have. If anyone in this world was meant to be a vet, it’s Dr. Manley. She is compassionate to both animal and man, she is immensely knowledgeable, and she was straightforward without being wrapped up in business. We thank her so much for helping us make decisions and literally holding our hand and paw through it. Remarkable woman and attentive staff. Dr. Manley, if you should see this, thank you so much. You’ve truly made yourself memorable to us.

My frog is 10 years old. I've lived in 5 towns since getting her. This is the only place that would ever see her. Not only did they agree to treat her, but they did an incredible job. They went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure she was given the absolute best care that could be given. This us a place that truly loves animals, I recommend them to anybody that asks.

Awful. A loose cat from my neighborhood was hit by a car and brought in. When I called to see if they had an update or if they cat need any financial assistance as we don't believe he has a home and I was willing to take on his costs. The women wouldn't give me any information, said they wouldn't take my money to help treat him, and hung up. Definitely not someone who should be working with anything living. Horrible to help this animal for hours and be told I can't take responsibility for the cat. Will never bring an animal here again, wouldn't trust these people with an ice cube.

Went to Tufts/Cummings School for a period of two years while my senior cat was diagnosed and treated for cancer and they helped and assisted me through the entire process the whole time, sitting with me and helping me make the right decisions to make sure she got the care that she needed. Between oncology and emergency, I knew that I would always get the best care any time that I needed to take her in. Thank you for everything you did. ????

Only emergency vet nearby. They treat in order of severity of case, not in order of arrival, which is great.

Went 4 times in the past 5 years. First time they botched our dogs spinal surgery (he lost the use of his hind legs) and had to refund us in full. Second time we had a successful spinal surgery. 3rd time we brought our dog for chronic, recurring vomiting and diarrhea and they said they didn't know what was wrong, then handed us a $3K bill. Fourth time they admitted him as an emergency with the intent of doing an endoscopy the following morning, the next day we get a call from a different doctor saying they've been feeding him and we would need to schedule him 2 months out for a scope because thats not something they could do during his stay. Had to refund us in full again for the misunderstanding. Impression: Staff here are not on the same page and medical guidance/diagnosis is mediocre at best. I certainly sympathize that clinics are overwhelmed right now but that explanation only goes so far, for so long. Would advise going elsewhere, if you can.
