We moved to Marlborough after living in Boston with a solid dog playgroup in our neighborhood. Our dog was isolated here as we didn't know anyone, and turned into an anxious, overly attached mess. A few months going to LID and he's back to his happy self, and always excitedly waits by the garage door on the days we take him!

We had Life is Dog do some reactivity training with our dog, working on barking, growling, and other negative reactions. They did an AMAZING job with him. His confidence and responsiveness to us has gone through the roof, and he's vastly …

We had a great experience working with trainers at Life is Dog. My dog completed a session of private lessons, mainly with Dana, to work on his fear and conditioning and desensitization to new, unfamiliar noises. We learned a lot of new skills with the clicker training. Dana was great to work with. She made the clicker training accessible to learn, and she's willing to explain and demo a lot during the lesson. If there was some current issue we wanted to work on, she could make time to focus on that during the lesson. Our dog developed a lot more confidence and is less anxious now from working with Life is Dog!

I can't say enough great things about all the life is dog staff. My pup Finn goes to daycare 4 days a week and it's so nice to see how excited he gets to go and see "his friends" at life is dog. He also gets dog walks from his best friend Kelsey on Wednesday's and I know how much he adores his Wednesday walks with Kelsey. Thanks for all that you do for Finn and I we really appreciate all of you!

If I could separate the reviews per service, I would. - The group training classes: five stars The team members are so kind, knowledgeable, and truly care about each dog that comes into the classes. While it is a group, the classes feel individualized to what your puppy needs as they progress through the levels. Do not hesitate to sign up for group training! - The day camp: three stars Our eight month old puppy started daycare because we thought this might be an opportunity for her to further develop her socialization skills with other dogs. Unfortunately, she was barking too much, so we were told it wasn’t a good fit. We understand and respect that our puppy feels stressed in this environment and Life is Dog is not the right day camp for her. What led to the three star rating is: **When I asked how we can fix these behaviors at home they said they didn’t know: “We haven’t found a fix for that yet, but we do offer dog walking. Day camp isn’t for her.” As she is still very young, I do believe her behaviors can be adapted and wish we were given productive feedback to continue to develop her socialization. **On her second to last day, I watched other dogs being given holiday ornaments and treats by the staff when they got picked up. When it was our turn, our pup simply had her bad report card. While she barks a lot there, it still stung a little bit that she wasn’t considered deserving of holiday cheer.

I highly recommend Life is Dog for dog training classes. The classes are small and the trainers take the time to get to know (and love!) each dog. The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable. The trainers are there to help you work with your dog and not simply to teach a one size fits all strict method of training. This flexibility has helped the training of my puppy to be successful. The people associated with Life is Dog are terrific!

When your dog waits at the door crying when you say, You want to go to school today. That's peace of mind you're in an amazing place. Life is a dog is all of the above and more. Love Puck and his Mom.

I have been doing business off and on with LID for 4-5 years and the ownership and staff have always been amazing and accommodating with my crazy schedule.

We signed our pup up for day academy training. It was very convenient for us because of our busy schedules. We dropped him off 2 days a week. The trainers did most of the training and sent us detailed video's and report cards showing us how to practice with him at home. Within the first 2 weeks we saw a difference. Highly recommend.

Dana is a very warm person, her laugh can make your day. Nance's biology science background will ensure you that they do things right. It is fun and easy to work with these ladies! Love!!!

We brought our 4 month old hound/lab puppy to Life is dog and had a pretty terrible experience. We were new dog owners and had never raised a puppy so we were really relying on our trainer for helpful information. The staff told us our puppy was aggressive and removed us from the group sessions to have 1:1 meetings with an older adult dog. He did amazing at these sessions because he is not aggressive, he was simply excited. Still, we were only allowed to go to 1:1 sessions with a single adult dog rather than the group puppy classes where he could be properly socialized. When we were finally able to return to the puppy classes, we were told that the entire group would not be able to participate in play because our pup was present and the trainer asked us if we had spoken to our vet about medicating our puppy due to his behavioral issues. We were incredibly shocked by this but we brought it up to our vet just in case. She told us there was absolutely zero reason to medicate our puppy and he was one of the sweetest pup she sees. We decided to leave Life is dog as we could not work with trainers who had pegged our pup as an issue and wanted to medicate him for no medical reason rather than help us train him. He has since THRIVED with another trainer and we continuously receive compliments from other dog owners, groomers, neighbors about how well behaved he is. I would recommend looking elsewhere.

After not having success with our first attempt with a different trainer we took our 3 year old yellow lab mix rescue dog Jax to Life is Dog to see if they could help with his reactivity. After only two classes with Nance and Dana we began to see a change in Jax and his ability to follow our instructions. It was clear to us that their method of training was a great fit for our dog. Nance is extremely knowledgeable and understood what Jax needed. She also helped us understand him, which has helped us in his training. They were also very flexible when we had to reschedule unexpectedly a few times. We are very pleased with the tools they have given us to help Jax and we hope to continue his progress with more training with Life is Dog!

Whether you’re looking for dog training or doggie day camp, I can’t recommend Life is Dog enough! As someone else here on yelp said—if I could give them 10 stars I would…but Yelp limits it to five! ???? We started taking our pup to training at Life is Dog when she was about five months old, in the fall of 2019. We had gone through an eight-week puppy class before that—the kind that meets once a week—but we were looking for something more and had heard really good things about Life is Dog. Perhaps the biggest benefit—they operate like a gym membership. There’s a flat monthly fee, and it’s up to you how many classes you attend. Training is all about consistency—one class per week isn’t necessarily going to work! We usually attend 3-5 classes per week with our pup. And as the dogs progress through the “levels” they encourage you to keep going to lower level classes so your dog will continually be exposed to new humans and puppies and become and all around well-adjusted pooch (and learn to do the same tricks with new distractions around!) This is great on multiple levels—not only are newly learned skills being constantly reinforced, but the pups get so much have exposure to other dogs for socialization—something that was really key for us as the winter set in and we knew outdoor meet ups would be few and far between. The owners really care about the animals and about making sure you have all the tools you need to shape your pup’s personality. One time, one of the owners (Nance) recommended that I take my dog for walks with another dog/dog mom in class—my dog is very self-confident but at the time wasn’t a great loose leash walker, while the other dog was afraid of her own shadow but the best loose leash walker ever. They’d learn from each other on such walks, Nance said. It’s just one small example of how Life is Dog goes out of its way to enrich your pup’s life. Our girl also goes to puppy camp at Life is Dog three days a week – she is a Dalmatian and has endless energy…so having her play hard in a controlled setting with pups that are now her friends has been so great for us as well as her! The workers there are absolutely the best. It really is a unique community of pup-lovers and I am so glad we found it! Again, I can’t recommend Life is Dog enough.

Really can't say enough about Dana, Nancy and the rest of their team. We were desperately looking for options for our 4 month berner, and we stumbled across Life Is Dog, Inc - and we are so glad we did.The first conversation I had with Dana put me totally at ease; she explained how puppy day care worked - including the fact that they really only take 'regulars' so that the dogs get to know each other over time and they aren't introduced to new dogs every day. She arranged for my partner and I to meet Nick and Matt, the guys that pick up/drop off every day, and they were wonderful. We were nervous about our pup's first day, and we were pleasantly surprised to get regular updates and photos throughout the day from the staff at the daycare (shout out to steph!), relieving our anxiety immensely. These guys are so organized about everything from their programming, pick up/drop off schedules, to their invoices - and they have a range of other services we are looking forward to trying as well, like training classes. If you're looking for doggy day care, training, walking services and more, Life is Dog is the way to go.

I can’t thank the team at Life is dog enough for giving Sebastian and I all the tools to help him be the absolute best dog on the planet! They have an excellent training program with multiple class times, small group training class along with a variety of times available. Everyone in my neighborhood can’t believe he’s the same dog. Calmer, under control, reserved but still very playful and mischievous. I also use their dog walking services. They are trustworthy, reliable, loving and caring. Most of all, Sebastian loves the Life is Dog employees and the is what is most important to me!

About a year ago I adopted a then 3 year old dog from out of state. I was well familiar with the breed, having had 9 over 35 years. I was hopeful that the rescue’s glowing review of her would prove to be true, particularly because she’d been in 3 homes + a foster in her 3 short years. I knew from experience that training classes would be a great way for us to bond but, after having her for a few weeks, knew she wasn’t ready for the hubbub of a typical program/setting. I was ecstatic to find LID. Their small classes, where dogs progress at their own rates while still having the opportunity to make friends—-people and pups—-was perfect for her. She progressed steadily but I never felt rushed to “move her up” a level. Sooner than I had expected she was ready to take (and pass) her Canine Good Citizen test and was well ahead of other dogs when she moved on to another facility to become certified as a therapy dog. My only disappointment was that there wasn’t another class for her to take at LID. But, no matter, when a new dog moves in we’ll be back!

Nance, Dana and the entire Life Is Dog team are extremely professional and reliable. You can clearly see each team members cares for each dog in there presence as if it was their own. There are extremely knowledgeable and can cater the training specifically to your dogs needs! The facility is clean and safe! I wouldn’t take my dogs anywhere else!

I love working for this team! Everyone is very knowledgeable about dogs. Nance and Dana are very good a paring walkers and clients together. I love all the different dogs and cats that I’ve gotten to take care of. I have more pictures of other people’s pets than my own. I love all the dogs different personalities and we have so much fun on our walks! My dog loved his time at day care. He was so tired from all the fun he had. I was able to have someone walk my dog for me when I went to a wedding. I loved the pictures and the detailed notes. I knew he was in good hands!

I can’t say enough wonderful things about Life is Dog. I have used their services at two separate times for my beagles. Nance and the crew were wonderful with my first beagle, Homer, up until he passed away two years ago. And they have come through again for Belle, our research rescue beagle. They communicate on a regular basis, I get daily updates with pictures from Belle’s walker who is a gem! I’ve used their overnight services and Belle could not have been better cared for. I highly recommend Life is Dog for your pets needs.

I too am someone that rarely does reviews, but the pet sitters (in my case, CAT SITTERS!) at Life is dog are wonderful. I have two cats, and one needs special attention as he's had a urinary blockage. Life is dog folks take good care of my boy and keep me up-to-date on his litter box visits. It helps me relax when I'm away as I am frequently for business. I highly recommend them!
