Burke's Dog Grooming Marlborough, Massachusetts

So sad that customer loyalty isn’t a thing at Burkes. We’ve been going to Burkes since she opened and was one of the first back after lockdown. One of the staff called early Nov to cancel our apt saying a groomer had left. She said they were trying to sort something out. A day before what would’ve been our apt I got another call. Again, not April but another staff member. She told me they were now cancelling my Dec apt! When I queried and asked what they wanted to do about a customer who would need to find somewhere else to cover she said that’s ok it doesn’t matter! I can understand that due to a change in staff circumstances and deciding to go a different route - I’ve since heard April has decided to only groom small dogs - a loyal customer could have at least heard from from the owner to explain why they are being dropped! My advise is try this groomer if you have a small dog. BUT don’t trust her to not drop you if she decides she prefers someone else.

An early client, I helped this place grow their client base with a lot of word-of-mouth when they first opened, before there were any staff but the owner. Loved the place then. Very compassionate, great attention to detail. In the years since, I’m not sure if they’re deciding to become more discerning or what the plan is, but we have been turned away for not having come in during the pandemic. Or it could be that I was unhappy when they put chemicals on my very allergic dog, even though I explicitly told them she and we have allergies. (When the groomer incurs vet and doctor bills, it’s never a good sign!) Interesting choices; definitely Ableism responses from the people I’ve talked to on the phone (never April anymore). Those of us unable to take chances with the lives of our dear, high risk family members have been turned away. So sad. Well, good luck; healthy people probably still love you.

I think it’s very unfortunate when you reach out to a Grooming service to have your dog groomed (50 lbs female Husky) and they tell you they cannot service me due to the fact my dog is too dirty... And maybe that she hasn’t been groomed in a year... (Were we not in a pandemic?) Regardless of the facts, I am appalled by the response given to me by Mrs. Burke. You should really learn how to deal professionally with potentially new clients, instead of blatantly disrespecting them on the phone. I would never think about conducting any business with someone so unprofessionally.

This place is GREAT! my dog finally doesn't want to bolt out of the door when I pick her up and her nerves are much better (she doesn't enjoy getting wet or her nails done). They are so kind and professional. Emily is the BEST there!

Elijah is the best! Luv that pups aren't put into cages. They get to play and make friends.

My dog got his hair cut too short due to a miscommunication amongst schedulers and groomer. The owner took responsibility for the issue and gave us a refund. I’m not sure if we’ll go back but I will credit the owner for being very professional.

I was very excited to bring my puppy to a place that didn't put them in crates. When I came in I thought I was very clear about what I wanted. Wash, and trim a tiny bit. I specifically stated how I love his fluffy puppy look and wanted to keep it. Just needed to be cleaned up a tiny bit. Specify said I hate when groomers trim down the nose area. I arrived to pick him up 3 hours later and he was completely shaved!! Very disappointed. Before and after pics. So sad. ????????

Go somewhere else for your grooming needs!! Extremely unhappy with my experience at Burke's. April is very rude and told me I was not allowed to bring my dog back because I was late to my appointment after being a client there for nearly a year. Who does that!? She also gave me a different price every time I picked up my dog. One day it would be $65, the next time $70 and the very last time $85. Horrible customer service and customer etiquette.

My dog, Caleb, doesn't like to be groomed; however, April and Elijah are ALWAYS so kind and patient with him...and he ALWAYS looks so wonderful when I pick him up. Caleb has been going through some serious health issues, and has missed two grooming appointments. I brought Caleb in for a trim of his paws yesterday, and to my surprise, Elijah gave him a quick cut and cleaned him up so very nicely....and he did this out of the kindness of his heart...asking not to be paid!! Elijah, knowing how much Caleb has been going through, wanted to make him look and feel better. How amazingly kind is that?!! If you are looking for a groomer, look no further...Burke's has talent and heart!

Best groomer we've ever brought our dog to. April is wonderful and takes great care of the dogs she grooms. We've had bad experiences with other groomers, but April takes the time to listen to clients about any special needs their pets may have.

I've been bringing my puppy here since her very first puppy cut. However, today I brought her there and it was the worst experience ever. They had told me they needed to shave her down and I agreed, but they ended up shaving extremely uneven. It looked as if I had my seven year old shave her. I got home and was looking at her hideous hair cut and I noticed a cut on her head that was bleeding. I immediately felt uncomfortable knowing that they had cut her and didn't even feel the need to inform me. I went back and showed them, but the groomer waved it off as if it were nothing. I have trusted this place for a while but there is a new worker; who is clearly not qualified. I will not be bringing my dog back. I sadly do not trust this place anymore.

April was my dogs groomer when I lived in Marlborough. I still drive there for my dogs grooming from Waltham because no on does such a quality job as her. Highly Recommended!

April cuts my shih-tzu's hair every 2 months terrifically for 2 years now

She is an amazing dog groomer. My dog had an amazing experience and usually is frightened by the old groomer. Feels homey and not crazy. I would recommend her to anyone.

Degenerative disc disease. That was the diagnosis my Havanese received in 2014. Consequently, I needed a groomer whom I could trust to ensure his comfort and safety. I found April in 2015. April has been grooming my pups for a couple of years now. She does an amazing job, they always come home looking and smelling great.
