Old Derby Animal Hospital Hingham, Massachusetts

We have been going to Old Derby for years. The veterinarians are very good and the nursing staff is very helpful. My dogs are always well-treated there.

We started bringing our new pup Emmy to Old Derby last April and they have been great. She has had all her preventative care, shots, and even some minor preventative dental surgery there. The entire staff is amazing. Very qualified and happy to coach you through decisions. Now that she is an adult we also use the Inn they have for grooming and short term boarding. Facilities and staff again are top notch. Highly recommended.

What a difference between this place and my former Vet of 15 years - SCAH! Old Derby Animal Hospital was friendly, relaxed and so caring from the moment we walked in the door! Dr Kimball and her assistant Erin were so informative, they spent a lot of time answering our questions and listening to our concerns and explaining everything, I never felt like I was being rushed out the door and they didn't try to push expensive tests or food at us. I was so refreshed with the service that I felt compelled to write a review. They actually answer the telephone and don't rely on voice mail. Everyone from the front desk is so helpful and pleasant. I am so happy to have made the change and I wish that I had done it sooner. They are still accepting new patients and have obviously learned how to master dealing with the stress of covid, because their staff is wonderful and a breath of fresh air after my former vet experience.

Dr. Warendorf, Erin, and the rest of the staff were fantastic! They took such great care of our puppy.

Amazing place, everyone there was so welcoming and all truly love what they do! They made me and Lilith feel so comfortable and also explained everything to me in extreme detail on what I should be expecting, and why they were choosing to do certain things. Honestly, ever since I got the first phone call, all the way to the first visit, I knew this was going to be the vet for my first puppy. If you’re looking for a new vet, I HIGHLY recommend!

I can’t believe how responsive, professional and attentive this animal hospital is! My dog has a chronic and rare (in the U.S) disease. I called around to many hospitals to see if they were willing to take on the case, most vets were not comfortable but Dr. Poganik agreed. She has been nothing short of amazing. She responds quickly, researches the answers for me and really gives my dog the proper amount of medical attention and care. I’m really impressed with the doctor and staff. I’m also a former Veterinary Technician.

We are new to the area and brought our 8 year old toy poodle to Old Derby for an ear and eye infection. They were so helpful and got us in earlier than expected and were all so helpful.Casey followed up with assistance and emails for our poodles diet and Dr Vagliano was so great and knowledgable. She did not rush us and answere all of our questions. We are definately going to trust these wonderful people with our beloved poodle!

Very kind, responsible, and caring

I was in the process of changing veterinarians. I took Max to Old Derby Animal Hospital and am so happy that I did. Dr. Warendorf was excellent with Max. He definitely showed concern for Max's well being and it was obvious that he really cares about your pets. I am confident that Max will not be just a name on a medical record. All of the staff here are wonderful and very pleasant to interact with. I do believe that Max has found his forever place for care. Also, the cost is very reasonable.

I used to go to Porter square vet when we lived in Cambridge but once we moved to Quincy we started at old derby and wow! Dr butler is just wonderful. He looks after our two pups and he takes time to answer all our questions. He never makes us feel like we’re asking stupid questions (although we may be!) and he never makes us feel like he has somewhere else to be. Both are dogs go here & while they’re a bit more expensive they’re 100% worth it because they have your fur babies interest at heart. And they never ever push anything on you. Furthermore, they’ve fit me in on the schedule when they were busy and even spent time answering my questions on the phone!! I’d give this place 15 starts if i could!!

This was our first visit to Old Derby with our new puppy and everything was great, no surprises. Everyone was so pleasant, informative and helpful!

Vet was very attentive and understanding of my concerns. I did not feel dismissed in any way. I did not feel rushed through my appointment. My dog was examined the most thoroughly she has ever been examined. I am thrilled with our experience and with the communication between the vet and I! Highly recommend. I am moving my dogs care to this practice!

We are new patients of Old Derby Animal Hospital after just moving to the area, and could not be happier with our choice to seek care for our dog here. Our first visit was great start to finish, from booking to leaving. We never felt rushed, which definitely has happened to us before in other practices where it feels like they just need to check a few boxes, get you out the door and the next patient in. At Old Derby, it was nothing like that! The team went over everything we wanted to talk about no matter how small, and were so sweet with our pup! He has been a little isolated with us during COVID, so we were worried about him being shy but he was more than happy because I think he sensed what good people they were; they are animal lovers through and through! Old Derby, you have patients for as long as we live here!

Boarding facilities are top notch. The staff here is communicative and friendly. Our dogs always do well here!

Your all doing great. The only thing that could improve our experience is to get back to being able to enter the exam room with our pets!

Excellent attention to detail. Dr. Nicholas Warendorf took a lot of time with me as a new patient. Asked a lot of questions and explained the blood work results and a plan of action to reduce my Chi's weight. The staff was great and they have a pharmacy app and a PetDesk app you c an put your information in and schedule appointments. They have boarding and I even saw a dog acupuncturist going into the practice as I was waiting outside. Highly recommend.

We are new in town and had a rabbit emergency. They took us that same day, the vet talked to me throughout the checkup and delicate situation, via phone bc of Covid, and they followed up with me for three days to see how she was doing. I've been to very few wonderful vets but I think Old Derby may just rank as the best one. We have cats as well and will absolutely bring them here. I saw many people bring their dogs while I waited in my car. All appeared to be very pleased. I found that they offer a lot more than just vet services so look through the website. It's kind of like one-stop-shopping for your pet.

Dr. Butler is AMAZING!! He truly cares about every patient and so informative and compassionate. I truly believe that he treats each one his patients as if they were his own pets. They were very kind and loving to Shiloh and I. It was a hard time and they were very nice and helpful.

This place saved my kitty!!! After several visits to another veterinarian and urgent care clinic, many tests and no clear strategy for solving the mystery illness I finally took my girl to the Old Derby Animal hospital. Not that they gave us an appointment in a couple of days and quickly figured out the strategy for treatment, they also did magic by squeezing my cat for a surgery. Two weeks later, and my 16 year old girl is cuddling happily in my arms with no more pain❤️ Thank you, Dr Poganik and staff for the magic ????????✨

Great place for your pet. They are very responsive and everybody is super nice. The bet spends the time going over everything, From vet services, to grooming and boarding, they cover it all. I would highly recommend! Thank you for taking such a great care of Hayes!

Nice place to take pets

The doctors at Old Derby are outstanding. With the help of their care, my cat no longer takes insulin and a misdiagnosis from a previous vet was resolved. All the staff are kind and compassionate. They also recognize that there comes a time when medical interventions extend outside what is reasonable. I highly recommend Old Derby, especially if you have a pet with complex needs.

The Doctor's at Old Derby are outstanding! The grooming is fabulous! My dog loves coming here, he is always happy to see the vet and/or groomer!
