Love Dr.White. She is an excellent vet. I don’t know the other doctors in the practice but can highly recommend Dr. White.

My Boston Terrier, Mowgli, has not been a patient of Riverbend for about two years now. We had to switch vets due to moving away. I'm writing this review now because I've tried several vets since moving from Western Mass, and I am convinced no practice is as fantastic as Riverbend. Dr. Burgess and Dr. White were both so good to Mowgli and helped us navigate her skin and allergy issues. The techs and support team (specifically Shauna!) showered Mowgli with love every time we went. Mowgli has always loved vet visits, and I know the Riverbend staff is the reason why. We miss you guys! Love - Mowgli and Hannah

Great clinic, though tough location on just the “other” side of the bridge. But they’ve taken good care of our pups.

After taking my two dogs here for a few years, I was informed that because one hadn’t had his annual exam in time, I could no longer get his prescription filled through them. This place is on some elitist yuppie garbage for a small veterinary practice. *The response from Riverbend to my review only adds to my point. They care more about their own practice and office protocol than they do people’s pets. It’s all about Riverbend being right. Not about the health of clients pets.I didn’t get a response from my actual doctor who knows my pet. I got a response from who knows who on my google review. When your vet replies with MA state law, it’s time to find better care. I’m fully aware of what my pets medication requires. No flexibility in care. No concern for his current condition. Dismissive unconcerned response is all. Probably from a receptionist too. I’m glad I have the opportunity to find a better veterinarian now.

Over 18 months into COVID and my wife informed me that she scheduled an appointment for our dog and that I’d be able finally go into the appointment (river bend has not allowed anyone into the building since the beginning of the pandemic; understandable). I get there today and was informed that DUE TO MY JOB I was denied entry. I was told that due to the fact that I work in human healthcare I am considered “high risk”. Unbelievable.

The people here are mean spirited and rude. They consistently were absolutely awful to interact with over the past 2 year we have been bringing our rescue dog here. Every single time we had to interact with their customer service staff they were either changing expectations, forgetting to fill a prescription or talking down to us about how our puppy behaved (she gets very nervous and shy, she was NEVER aggressive to anyone). While the doctors here always seemed to have an even keel, I would absolutely avoid Riverbend at all costs if you want any type of professional or courteous interaction with your vet. Worst experience possible.

It's difficult for me to not be able to rate Riverbend with the less than 1 star that I would like to, however, having said that there are some nice people who work there... I wrote this on my Great Dane Sasha's 5th birthday. She had been the sweetest, most amazing, well behaved, easily trained and gentile dog I have ever known. It is still heart breaking to think of what became of her after being “under the care” of Riverbend and what she had to go through… and it all started with a surgery performed at and by the recommendation of Riverbed Animal Hospital that should have never taken place. Following the recommendations of one of the orthopedic surgeons, (who's name I've chosen to leave out) we had a surgery done to repair one of Sasha's knees at Riverbend. The procedure which was recommended to us... we would later find out should NEVER be performed on large breed dogs and/or dogs over 50 lbs. Sasha our Great Dane, at the time, was almost 3 times that weight. Unfortunately towards the end of Sasha's recovery/rehabilitation timeframe that surgery failed spectacularly. During her recommended rehabilitation exercises (walking the stairs as a strengthening routine) Sasha's knee gave out, this time tearing her meniscus and causing her to fall down the stairs and herniate a disc in her lower spine. Sasha has since undergone 2 more surgeries, this time at the Foster Hospital for Small Animals at Tufts University in North Grafton. The first surgery to repair the herniated disc in her spine, an injury which has caused excruciating nerve pain and damage, and the second surgery to re-repair her knee, this time with the surgery which IS recommended for large breed dogs. In the last 6 months Sasha has had 3 surgeries, she has lost almost 30 pounds on a frame that had no weight to lose in the first place… because she’s scared, in pain and giving up. Now she looks almost grotesque with skin stretched over bone because she can't bring herself to eat and she is steadily losing ground. Sasha's pain levels have been unmanageable on many different combinations of, or at times, all of 5 different pain medications... Tufts wants to have her back so they can manage her pain through IV medications and explore more options to see what else could be wrong with her... but we are all out of money, which means we’re out of options and every day for Sasha is worse than the day before. Today, on her 5th birthday, my wife and I are putting her down… because the money is gone.

Our dog blew her knee out. Riverbend reapaired the knee and quickly after she blew the other knee out. The surgery failed they admitted it was their fault and they tried to sell us rehab. Thinking back I think the first surgery caused the second. Our dog is still struggling years later and it’s drastically affected her and our life. They do NOT stand behind their work or surgeons. Please do not take your dog there.

Very welcoming staff. I wasn't worried about the surgery at all and my Lab come home with instructions and medication to keep her comfortable. I highly recommend this facility.

Our dog blew out her knee. I was against having the operation. After six weeks she is still limping and her knee is flared out even after the rehab regimen. I am very dissatisfied with the results

I really like these guys. They actually take their time and care about the animals and how to best care for them. Our dog was recently very sick and they went above and beyond with communication while I was out of town. They are very accessable and easy to make an appointment with. Two thumbs up.

I could tell right away that this place provided special care. The way the Dr. & the staff handled my dog was superb. Everything about my dogs wounds was clearly explained, and a fully itemized proposal of care was written up & reviewed with us. I feel very content knowing my pets best interest is being considered.

Wonderful place! Dr. Thompson and his staff give the best possible care. My dog, Bear, has had 4 surgeries there and yet it's still one of his favorite places to go. He always enjoys a visit with "Uncle Dave"!

After transferring care from another veterinarian practice in the valley, we could not have been more pleased with Riverbend! The culture is so positive and caring, the staff is professional, knowledgeable and kind. When it came time to say goodbye to our dog we were all comforted to know we were in caring and capable hands. They took care of our girl and us, her humans in the best way possible.

We have been taking our cat here for years. They are nice, sweet, and affordable. Gives you all the options, cheap and expensive and asks you about how your cat is whenever you go in! Love this place!

We have had two excellent experiences with Dr Thompson and the Riverbend staff. We brought in two separate dogs eight years apart 2018 and 2010. ACL repair and tumor removal. We have another vet in the Valley for routine care but anything surgical we go to Riverbend.
