No Bones About It Brookline, Massachusetts

Highly subjective, but in my opinion the best groomer in the area. We've been to lots of groomers around and No Bones About It consistently does the best job. And the staff are awesome. The only 'con' is that because they are awesome, they're often booked up 2 months out. They schedule out like a dentist's office now with like an appointment for you after your visit so it's not an issue for us. Pic of our 9 year old dog for reference.

I went to this place because it was highly recommended by a trainer I was using for my terrier/corgi mix. She is a rescue and a fearful dog. I explained this to the owner, Karen, and she said she would be OK. I medicated her with pills from the vet, and they were able to groom her, and did a great job. I was advised to have regular grooming and I brought her to the day care several times to get her used to staff and other dogs. I then attempted to book another appointment for grooming and had to wait a month. I was told by Karen to bring her without medicating her, as she would probably do OK. I bring her in and pick her up hours later as instructed. They tell me that they bathed her and did her nails, but did not groom her, as she was "too difficult ". I was then told to call the next day. When I called the next day I was told not to bring my dog back for any grooming, as she was "taking too much time " and the owner was "losing money " spending time trying to groom my pet when she could have done several dogs instead of trying to groom my pet. Well, I found another groomer, and they were able to groom her with some patience. In summary, this place is good if you have a dog with no issues with grooming. They have their regular clients who appear to have pure bred dogs and are willing to spend a lot of money on daily day care and weekly grooming. They are not a place that will take time with a difficult animal and appear to be more concerned about income. I also noticed that at least twice, one of their workers was screaming at a dog that was barking excessively and another that was fighting with another dog. Large and small dogs are also thrown in together into a fairly small area. If you choose not to pay the $25 fee for day care when you bring your pet in for grooming, they will be crated for several hours. I am not recommending this place for anyone who has a dog with behavioral issues. While they say they are willing to work with you, they obviously do not.

Awesome day care and grooming

They are very good with the dogs. Kind, friendly and skilled with grooming too. I have been taking our dog there for many years.

The manager/staff member didn’t have extra masks in store when I asked as I noticed I forgot mine when I drove over. I still put a thick car towel on my face walking in, yet the attendant there said they didn’t have a mask and that next time I should have it on. When I told her I forgot it and that I just asked her if she had some in store, she just snapped at me “how can you forget, it’s the law!” Extremely rude staff, physically walked out on the appointment. If you can’t even be nice to me, how can I trust you with my dog.

This place is amazing, I called yesterday and they were able to fit me in the next day as a new client. I was greeted with a warm welcome, the staff there are all so nice and you can tell they absolutely love what they do. I will continue coming here. Amazing and great experience <3

I witnessed some borderline abuse happening at this daycare. Went in there because my dog was being groomed. They were supposed to have him done at 6:30 but they started him at 6:10. I went in because I thought he was done and hid because I didn't want him to see me while they were finishing his cut. then I heard the groomer scream "I DON'T F****** have time for this" and she grabbed his face and yelled "F***** stay still!" I almost said something but waited to see if there was no further abuse. There wasn't so I left and came back in. They told me he wouldn't be done by 6:30 and I should come back at 6:45-7. When I returned they had shaved his chest, his tail and he's been suffering from terrible razor burn since that time (scampering from place to place). It was completely unnecessary treatment and we are extremely upset. We've filed a claim with our credit card company and we are thinking of reporting them. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. I've heard horror stories from other owners about their pets getting hurt, as well.

We have been bringing our dog here for a couple years. He always looks great when we pick him. They make sure to ask how we want him cut just to be sure even though they keep notes for the groomer. It seems to be a great environment for the dogs to socialize as well. Our dog is never excited to be dropped off but they say he always ends up being fine which is a big concern of ours. We feel comfortable leaving him here and that is extremely important to us.

My 13 lb Terrier mutt goes here three days a week and gets to hang out with all kinds of dogs and new friends. The staff is really friendly and all love dogs, I know they take good care of her. They are also more then happy to answer any questions and talk about how to become a better pet owner.

Awful experience!!! They expressed my dog's rectal glands without asking me. I did not even know what that was. My vet says that he gives explicit instructions to the groomers in his office to not do that. My 2-year mini labradoodle developed an anal infection and it has been 5 days now and he is still scooting and liking (plus had to take him to the doctor twice and he is on medication and ointments). In addition, they shaved all of my dog's coat without also asking me. Never again! First and last time for me. Can't imagine why they are so busy.

We've been bringing our 7 month old puppy here for a few weeks now and she seems to love it. Like other reviewers have said, it is rather small and some days their can be an overload of dogs! Regardless, my puppy always comes home smelling great and is exhausted! Very affordable too!
