I had gone to several dog obedience classes with my young dog and felt only "just" in control of my boy. A few conservation walks during which my dog ran off into the woods and across the street convinced me I needed a more comprehensive approach. Canine Magic delivered on all fronts. Terri and Mike developed an 8-week lesson plan tested over many years before I arrived. 8 weeks seemed like a huge investment, but it was so incredibly gratifying to see the progressive improvement from week to week. Terri was not just training my dog, of course, but me! I was leery at first of "zapping" my guy, but it only took a few lessons and some reminders to keep him on track and WITH ME! My confidence is so much greater now; I know Luigi will come when I call him, and I can walk pretty much anywhere without fearing annoying anyone or losing him to a car. The lesson plans were thoroughly thought-out, organized, and clearly explained. Terri provided clear feedback and corrections and invited calls for help during the week before our meetings. Luigi now excitedly waits for his e-collar to be fitted, and there's almost no zapping involved anymore. It's been a liberating experience for both of us and has actually improved the bond my dog and I share. One of the best investments our family has made: thank you, Terri!

I couldn't be happier with our experience at Canine Magic. I learned so much about canine communication and how to properly observe and understand my dog. The confidence it's built for Layla and I has drastically improved our already good relationship. We went on vacation the day after our last class and it was the best one we've ever had. We could both relax so much more. She hiked her first mountain.. the trail was pretty steep and she didn't try to pull me once! She was right by my side the whole time. We were even able to take her off leash in a few places! I highly recommend this program.

Taking our dog to Canine Magic was one of the best decisions we made. Mike and Terry really know their stuff and take their time to really get to know each dog. The classes are the perfect size to allow them to focus on each dog. When we signed up for the training we were on the verge of getting evicted due to our dogs constant barking. This is no longer the case. He is also so much better on the leash and will hopefully be off leash soon. Who said you can’t teach an old dog new tricks. We will defiantly use them for all our future dogs.

I cannot say enough great things about Terry over at Canine Magic. The program is about 8 weeks of small group training, and even though it's within a group, Terry and Mike give personalized advice and attention throughout the classes to help address any specific issues (even if outside the scope of the class / program itinerary). My husband and I had a huge problem with our puppy trying to assert dominance, and through working with Terry, our dog has done a complete 180 due to everything that was taught. 10/10 would recommend this program.

The place to go for dog training if you are in the north-of-Boston area! We started our rescue pup, Duke, as soon as we got him. 8 weeks of Canine Magic's program later, he's officially graduated and we couldn't be happier with the results. He's consistently listening to commands and already able to be off leash reliably in our yard. Family & friends have been impressed from week #3! (Don't let the stim collar scare you - it's barely a tickle for the dogs and just helps them refocus.) 5 stars!

Repeat Customer I can’t say enough about Terry and Mike @ Canine Magic. They have again saved the day for me. 14 years ago I went to Terry to help train my 10 month old Shiloh Shepherd – Morgan - who would not listen or stop barking. Morgan was with us for 13 years and was a great dog *after* we met Terry. I now have another Shiloh Shepherd named Kona who I had to take to Terry & Mike at 5 months old because she wouldn’t listen, was biting, typical puppy stuff, but too the extreme!! The first 2 months w/Kona were horrible and when I knew I had to take her to training, I immediately went to Canine Magic. The transformation was immediate w/Kona and she turned the corner and is a GREAT dog, again – thanks go Terry & Mike. I’ll be sad when we’re done w/group classes as it’s great to see how well all the dogs are doing and how some of the more reactive dogs have changed. I know people have a stigma against e collars, but Mike goes over the workings of the collar in the first semi-private classes and then Terry works the dogs in the groups to train the owner on handling different situations and working the collar and the dog. They love what they do and it shows!! I highly recommend Canine Magic for help in training your dog(s)!!

I started training at Canine Magic Dog Training in October of 2018, by about December I could take my dog fully off leash in the woods with spectacular recall. The methods and habits taught by Terry and Mike are invaluable. I was able to break Iris (my dog) of unwanted behaviors quickly (IE being rough with little dogs, console surfing in the car, unwanted chewing, etc) in a matter of weeks. With this training Iris can reallllly be a DOG. I don't mind if we are on walks in the woods and she takes off after a bunny or something, because I know I can recall her and have her sitting at my side within seconds if she strays to far. I can take her to unfenced yards and she will maintain a close proximity to me. She is kind of a dream now. I see other peoples dogs at the dog park, and they can't recall, can't break them of being to rough. The difference is night and day. I cannot recommend this class enough. Anyone who is interested in an obedient and super happy pup should give Canine Magic a shot.

Great place to be trained as a dog owner, and your dog will learn a lot too!!! Make sure do all your home assignments, and follow Terry 's instructions.

Terry and Mike are pros. Helped me and my S/O develop a system for setting our adopted dog up for success. They understand dogs, and the many ways humans interact with them. They identify problem behaviors in the trainers, and coach using positive reinforcement to bring all breeds, shapes, sizes and temperments up to “good dog” status. Some dogs are born to listen, some are born to be obstinate, some fall along the spectrum. I promise you will find a positive difference in your dogs behavior and your relationship with them after committing to this program. Heads up, this is not a magic pill, or a short cut: it takes work, failure, resetting and management. If you are ready to see an improvement in your dogs behavior: take this course. If you are feeling uneasy (I had my reservations, my S/O was completely against it) about using the e-collar, go watch a saturday group class. Nobody is tazing their dogs: the e collar helps command the attention of a dog so that you can effectively issue commands. It is never punishment: it is only a boundary (at first.) as you and your pup progress, it becomes totally natural, a part of the routine. I urge you to give your dog freedom through structure: go to Terry and Mike. Your dog (neighbors, kids, husband, wife, postal worker, other dogs) will thank you.

I love that they have group classes. This allows me to keep my dogs fresh in training.. you know the saying if you don't use it you lose it.. After the initial training my dogs were so good... I started slacking a bit on the training and the group classes really help me and my dogs to keep up and also a great way to socialize my pups!
