I’m so happy I found Heritage! Super friendly and compassionate staff. I have a skiddish dog who is terrified of going to the vet and she’s very strong ???? but everyone at Heritage always goes above and beyond to make her feel comfortable, especially Dr. Barthlow. Usually, I have to give my pup some medication before going to the vet to ease her experience but today I went in for an emergency visit because she had a swollen eye. There was no time to give her medication before going so I went in hoping for the best. Dr. Barthlow really cares about her patients and giving them the best care. She was super patient and knew exactly what to do and how to direct me in calming down my pup. Shout out to the tech, Jessica, too! The visit was successful, even without giving my pup medication, which I am so grateful for because I hope one day she won’t need it anymore. The previous vet we went to was not as understanding with my pup and would just send her home with me if she didn’t cooperate quickly or if I hadn’t given her medication prior to going.You can tell Dr. Barthlow cares about building relationships with clients/patients and gaining their trust. Even though this was a last minute visit I didn’t feel rushed at all and Dr. Barthlow even made a little time to interact with my pup outside of the exam room when we were done to reinforce a positive bond. I think my pup will warm up to the vet office one day thanks to her! Lastly, their prices are reasonable and worth it.

The team is great and they always take the time to answer questions. It's a friendly and clean environment. Never had any issues. Prices are comparable with other vets.

Do not go to this vet unless you are prepared to pay between $800-$1000 for a simple spay procedure. This vet recommenced we wait until our dog was between 7-8 months to be spayed instead of 6 because she is a larger breed. They claim they quoted us $800 for the initial procedure but provided no paperwork with this pricing prior. When we called to pick her up, they told us it would be nearly $1000 because she was “close to heat” during the procedure.Which made the surgery more difficult. I’m appalled that they would charge this much since they are the ones who recommended we wait this long to spay her. It’s very upsetting and traumatizing that we trusted this vet with her and they would take advantage to charge this much for a procedure should cost no where near this much even at a reputable veterinary clinic.

This is a great place to take your pet if you live in or around Walkersville. The care is great, they can get you in for an appointment quickly and they do a great job at fitting you in for an emergency. The front desk is really friendly and helpful as well.

Been taking my dogs here since 2004. They are very thorough in explaining care and needs of my dogs' medical issues. Have also had the misfortune of having to have two of my dogs put down...they were very compassionate during those difficult situations. Highly recommend Heritage Animal Hospital. Both my mother and sister use them for their furbabies, as well. They are just as pleased with the vet care, as I am.

I just happened to read through the reviews for Heritage Animal Hospital, and there is a horrible review from a lady whom kindly saved a cat hit by a car. To this individual thank you for caring enough to try and help the animal.I think the team at Heritage are awesome. If you would please think and please view this situation from a different angle. I have saved many animals in my days, and gotten to know Officer McVay of the SPCA/Animal control. She has helped me resue animals from dogs to squirrels and has told me of the horrific statistics in the Frederick area. EG: they take in on average, 22 dogs a day.or 8.030 dogs year. (just dogs) There is a huge ferral cat problem as well and let's say that Heritage was protecting other animals they know from the possible unknown diseases your poor little friend might have had. I have stage 4 cancer and have been blessed to live 3 + years.when origanally told 3 months at best. I had an 18 year old beagle, Ben RIP, and many times Heritage would give me donated medicines or help me pay my bills, I cannot work and have a limited income. Ben fought to be here for me and just could not hang in there any more. As feeble as he was, parvo, Kennel cough or any serious contagious disease surely would have taken him sooner. Surely not fair to Ben. When we put him to sleep, the room was full of Techs and doctors to help me and Ben get through a heart wrenching episode. I give Heritage Animal hospital 50 stars and I hope as kind as it seems you are that you try and understand they are extremely thoughtful and needed a bit of time to decide what to do. I'm sure it seemed like hours to you, I am sorry you had a difficult time. Thanks again for caring for one of our furry critters, please don't be discouraged, just hope that this message reminds some to spay and neuter pets so people like you don't have to experince this again. My best to you and to Heritage Animal Hospital. One more thought please, they have the ability to remove your post but did not because they are honest people....

The staff at Heritage have been so attentive since we brought our furbaby to them in 2014. We are so grateful for their service to local pet owners. We would highly recommend them to anyone who wants only the best for their fur family!
