Doesn't even deserve a star. We adopted a kitten from 7690 Richmond Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22306 that yall had been responsible for. So now not even a month in the disaster you guys have started since the 18th we have been to our vets office atleast 8 times because of yalls lack of care. Not only were we told you guys had given her her shots WAY too soon. We have dealt with an an infected incision where she had gotten spayed the day after we got her, she had brought home kennel cough which she and our dog contracted now. And now to top it all off she has ringworm this has truly been the worst experience we've ever dealt with. Honestly it seems like you guys have zero care for the kittens you have out there and it's all just a money grab. I'm looking forward to hearing for you guys to see what you could possibly explain. AVOID THIS PLACE.

I love this rescue group. They are all about the fur babies and making certain the babes go to good, loving homes.

Picked up my stunningly handsome Rex after they rescued him from a high kill shelter in Texas. They were awesome and now Rex has his forever home ❤

Sold us a very sick kitten who died two days later. The kitten was adopted Saturday. On Tuesday he threw up a huge pile of round worms (see picture) and then began throwing up bile into the evening. We got him to the vet who told us the cat had a zero white blood cell count and was going into sepsis. There was little they could do for him at that point.

Our 11 week old puppy was already neutered when we got him. This has caused some major growth defects. He has since required 2x knee surgeries ($7,500) and will eventually need to have a total hip replacement( approx $10,000). His orthopedic surgeon is certain the premature neutering is the reason for his growth issue, stating he " never finished cooking".

I cannot emphasize enough how sketchy this rescue is run. I foster for a few other local rescues- they provide everything you need to care for the animal and the support when you have questions. LCAR did nothing of the sort. I reached out wanting to foster a particular pup I had my eye on. Here are the events that occurred that are NOT NORMAL for typical fostering. 1) My application was pre-approved in hours. 2) There was miscommunication and mixed messages about picking up the dog. 3) When I picked her up, they wouldn’t let me take her off the property without paying $400 IN CASH. They wouldn’t give me a receipt. 4) After paying the money, they gave her over to me with nothing except a little dog bed. She had no collar, no food, no medications or care instructions for her recent spay incision. No crate or leash. 5) They called me 4 months after picking her up asking if I wanted to adopt her. My girl was pregnant when she came into their care and birthed 7 puppies. I don’t know the date they were separated, but it felt like it was too recent to be happening. Part of me thinks LCAR purposely brings in pregnant dogs to make money off the puppies. She weighed 14 lbs and was skin and bone. It looked like she was not cared for properly. It’s almost her one year “gotcha day” and I’m so grateful I rescued her from the sad situation at LCAR. She is now so beautiful , less anxious, and a healthy 20lb middle-aged girl. PLEASE don’t support LCAR in anyway.

The website isn't that easy to navigate. It feels like they would rather you make an appointment and explain everything then.

Unfortunately we adopted a kitten through them from our local PetSmart and had a very tragic experience. The kitten died suddenly after only 8 days. She was seemingly healthy until her sudden death, so it is unlikely that they could have known prior to the adoption, but my review is mainly in relation to how they responded to our tragedy. Immediately after her passing we called them to see what our next steps should be, if they'd like to do a necropsy, etc. We had a lot of trouble getting in contact with someone and kept being told someone would call us back. We had to call them back 3+ times to get them to put us in contact with someone who could help us. We requested that someone come pick up her remains because we live over an hour away from their office and had planned to go out of town for family reasons. We were told we could keep her body preserved over the weekend and bring it to them when we return. We were also told that we would have the option to adopt again or receive a refund (for our $125 adoption fee). We followed all the steps they told us to follow. After dropping her off we did not hear back from them for weeks. We tried to contact them multiple times before getting in contact with someone who could give us any information about our poor kitten. They told us that the necropsy was inconclusive. We had decided that we wanted our money back so we could use it to adopt another kitten on our own time, once we healed from this experience. They told us we had to write a letter to their board in order to receive a refund so we did that. A few weeks later we received a letter telling us that they will NOT give us a refund. Not to mention the fact that we requested her ashes, were told we could keep them, and never received them. The whole experience was heartbreaking, frustrating, and ultimately infuriating on account of the action or rather inaction of this organization. They seemed to have very little sympathy for our situation. I would not recommend adopting through this organization or any PetSmart that works with them.

In September of 2018, Last Chance helped me adopt a precious little terrier mix who had been re-homed and returned previously. I knew the family that turned him back, and the unfortunate circumstances, so, with eyes wide open, I was very eager to give this little guy a 2nd (or 3rd) chance at a forever home, unconditionally. The staff went out of their way to assist in my complex, out-of-state adoption. This little fellow, Skipper, had a progressively deteriorating, non-responsive eye infection that had to be cleared up for the adoption. As a "last chance," the brilliant Vet created a miraculous treatment plan and basically saved the little guy's eye, possibly his life. Upon his recovery, the staff and especially the Director, went above and beyond to finalize the adoption, even taking him to the airport for his trip to California. Everyone at Last Chance Waldorf, was caring and helpful beyond expectation. I am so grateful to them, especially the Director. Today, after a rough period of adjustment where this sweet little Skipper had to learn to trust, to feel safe, and to know he was in his forever home, he is a sweet, loving, gentle little pet, and a well-loved member of the family. I am so grateful to Last Chance, the Director, the Vet, humanitarians all! (current 2021 photos)

Site is well done, but I was looking for a dog, as I recently lost my Pug to old age, and all I saw was cats. My cat would die if I brought another one home

Last Chance was very patient in helping my Mother in Law find the right dog for her. They understood when they suggested a sweet GSP that she was just too big for a 70 year old retiree and suggested an amazingly sweet Chinese Crested from a hoarder case that she is absolutely in love with. Once this tiny girl is settled in and comfortable in her new home we will definitely be going back for another small companion. Thanks Last Chance for all the work you do to protect animals and find them homes.

UPDATE (2021): I'm finding that since PP moved to the new location, you speak to quite a few different people. In Feb 2021, I was quoted a price for surgery to take place in JUNE. The day before the surgery, I find out that the price from Feb has now increased by $200. Not at all happy since I had called several times between March - May to confirm the cost but never received a call back, not even to acknowledge that they had received my message. We've been going to Paw Prints for over six years and love their service and the new location. Always professional and prices are reasonable.

I adopted two kittens at separate times almost 5 months apart from petsmart. The kitties they are selling for 175 are extremely sick !!!!!!!!!!! The 1st one had a bone disability and a severe respiratory infection. The 2nd smells like it’s dying , aggressively affectionate, foul smelling poop horrible condition, Also making my other cat sick. They are knowingly sending dying very sick kittens to the store to adopt them out . It’s disgusting the smell that has consumed my home and the pain they are in. Don’t adopt from them

So I have been dealing w some issues with my 9 month old kitten Lucy. I was told she has the elisa titer for fip. I called Last Chance not once but twice and stiilllll noone had had the decency to call back. Truly doesn't seem like they genuinely care about the animals they adopted out. I will never ever ever adopt an animal from this organization again and I will definitely spread the word. I do not recommend this organization.

Went to them, I had been approved for adoption for an "appointment_. It was literally sitting at a picnic table. Telling me there's no puppies or small breeds. To try next week. Then a lady says they never have puppies just the unwanted pets. I'm up for for an unwanted pet, but when you list puppies on Petfinder and so forth, I'd expect to see a reply not an I'm sorry, especially after being approved.

They adopted a cat to my friend from petsmart in catonsville and the cat was so wild When took home and let out of carrier it bolted ,as if had never seen a human or a house , got into the ac/ heat vent then into crawl spaces inside walls of house , took 9 days to get cat out Firefighters came did nothing My friend destroyed some walls, ripped up carpet lot other damages to try get cat out I reached out to the rescue that adopted the little girl And they basically said sorry not sure how to help, they never called to see if cat died in walls or if we got her out Also tried calling ac/heating company no help So finally was able to get out Not sure if this rescue does any socialization for animals they adopt out and get money for But bad time for this kitty She is now safe and semi happy

My son and daughter-in-law adopted a puppy from LCAR in early 2021 and were told by staff there at the pick-up point (PetSmart) the dog was primarily one breed of hybrid – information matched the Contract, so they felt assured. After a few days, they realized the puppy was a completely different breed/hybrid and was a danger to their toddler. We wrote emails and son finally was able to speak to staff. The return process took six weeks, and in the end, when we dropped the puppy off, son was verbally insulted by Nicki for returning the puppy and called an a**hole. LCAR apparently does not exercise due diligence in determining breed/hybrid, and thus misrepresents to clients. Dunn and Bradstreet shows the annual sales for LCAR are more than $4,300,000! They should not give clients a hard time in returning the fees. Although they may provide homes for endangered pets, much of their activities are focused on making money. At $400 a dog, and with scores coming in to their facility each day, they are making money hand-over-fist. Salary of director Cindy Sharpley are unknown, because LCAR does not participate in Charity Navigator, as other major animal rescues do. For these and other reasons, we cannot recommend LCAR.
