Seems like most of the staff left for..reasons. No longer accepting new customers, and very long waits for those that are.

We brought our cat to Pike Creek Animal Hospital for yearly checkup for 3 years. They performed standard booster shots and examinations. In the last wellness checkup, we mentioned that our cat had difficulty swallowing and breathing , but the doctor didn’t even examine her throat and treated it as a normal visit. Everything was fine we thought. Less than one month later the cat progressively had problems breathing. Our teenage daughter took the cat back and was told that there was a large growth in the throat and there was nothing they could do about it. She was in shock and broke out crying desperately in the exam room. The staff didn’t wait for too long and rushed my daughter and her cat out of their office. We immediately took the cat to the Veterinary Specialty Center of Delaware. She died 2 days later and the vet bill was thousands of dollars. It has been a few years later and the pain from losing a family member never lessened. If Pike Creek Animal Hospital had examined our cat properly, the problem may have been treatable.

It is so much better since open for in person visits while still offering curbside visits.

Given the state of things, I was glad to be allowed to enter the building and be there for my cat when he was scared. The quick waiting time and fair pricing was just icing on the cake.

My dog was extremely sick and I took her to VCA in Pike Creek and I was so appalled by the way that they treated me and my dog! Right off the bat they just wanted to put her to sleep no treatment for what was going on with the dog just straight-up let's put her to sleep she's only 11 years old and had an infection that could have been stopped but I turned to the wrong people

Very rude staff! I would not recommend this place if you don't have thick skin. They treat you like your a moron and your concerns are a waste of their time.

Great staff! Friendly, organized and treat my babies very well. My boys are rescues from the south. From the streets as a matter of fact. So they are very scared. Staff are comforting to my boys and show them the compassion they require to feel more safe. ❤️❤️❤️

Recently I had my first visit to VCA Pike Creek after adopting two cats from the Brandywine SPCA in DE. The staff (Ashley, I believe Tara amongst others & the vet) was very friendly & accommodating given the protocols needed related to Covid plus conversations. I even received a follow up call today to check on our cat who came home with a slight respiratory infection. The start up pack was great. Thank you for the help with our new family members.

Called about our 6 week old puppy and they were able to get us in immediately. Thank goodness it turned out to be nothing wrong but they were so caring and listened to all of our concerns. They really made our visit to the office so welcoming and we left very informed and confident about caring for our puppy. Definitely recommend for any pet needs and the prices were very reasonable.

I honestly wish I could give this place 0 stars. I started taking my dog here as a puppy. I had quite a few instances where I was taken aback by their unprofessionalism and rude remarks. I took my dog here to get spayed along with another that we’re supposed to be done at the same time, despite my gut instinct. They forgot to do the additional surgery and had to put her under again. I emailed the manager about this and how unhappy I was with the entire practice just to get excuses and blamed. I have been taking my dog to another vet now and am shocked at how different it is. I also think it’s quite interesting how this VCA has so many positive reviews, when a few months ago they had one star and a slew of negative reviews.

This place is the worst. I set an appointment and was contacted by Pike Creek to reschedule for earlier, because they didn't want to work past a certain time, even though my appointment time was available. Early is tough for me because I work nights. I rescheduled anyway because my dog is elderly and going through a tough time. I wanted to review his options. I show up a few minutes prior to my new appointment time, everyone is waiting outside, the vet techs come outside to get the dogs. I understand because of our current pandemic but they are managing it horribly! I waited outside for a half hour after letting someone know that we were there. It's 90 degrees outside! This place has been known to overcharge and upsell. A total racket, but I sacrificed anyway because of convenience and it used to be a quality place. It no longer is.

I’ve had a good experience recently with this vet. My malamute has hypothyroidism, and until this last year (she is now 5) she hadn’t been diagnosed by the old vet we used to see. I had a feeling something was wrong so I took for an appointment here. They figured it out after a couple appointments from symptoms she was showing, and bloodwork. After a short time of being on the medication, she immediately was more lively, playful, and loving! I can’t believe she lived with this for a couple of years. Looking back, I should’ve taken her here sooner because there was clearly something wrong with her that was being missed elsewhere. Very thankful for this vet!! The only issue I ever had was many years ago, when my dogs were pups, which is what caused me to switch to different in the first place. It was very minor and I should’ve stayed. Anyways, I’m very glad to be back and will bear with them through this craziness of COVID-19. Thanks for all you are doing!

Dr. Laurie is awesome and has always been so great with my cat. They always follow up to check how she is. She recently got diagnosed with periodontal disease and the staff has always been very kind over the phone.

So my daughter-in-law found a stray dog in the area of Pike Creek the other day that was visibly injured. She and another woman took the dog to VCA Pike Creek animal Hospital. They would not treat the dog or let it inside. What a bunch of hacks. Apparently they don’t care about animals unless they are getting paid the big bucks they charge. For a slightly longer drive you can go to Kentmere Animal Hospital For honest caring service. Luckily the owner of the dog was located via a Facebook posting and the animal was returned. Bill D.
