VCA Kirkwood Animal Hospital Newark, Maryland

I have been SO impressed with this facility. The front desk staff are extremely polite, welcoming, and helpful. I just moved to the area and have been to this location three times this week for a checkup, a lame leg my dog developed after the visit, and now a follow up to try and get some answers. We have seen Dr. Roper and the tech Kaysie on every visit. I have been beyond impressed with how good they have been with my 100 lb dog. I feel like they have been very attentive to him. They listen to my concerns, provide thoughtful answers, and have been very knowledgeable with everything they have told me. I am shocked how easily we happened a cross an amazing vet and staff! This will definitely be our vet for our duration in Delaware.

The staff is always helpful. The are able to make appointments as I need. The vets are knowledgeable and good.

In regards to Vincent’s review about the so called “bloodbath “ completely FALSE!! and over exaggerated! staff handled it very well the altercation between dogs was resolved within 15 seconds and there was in fact no blood all. immediate new procedures taken place for future to prevent unfortunate circumstances which was lovely to hear staff are responsible and can be trusted always looking to better learn how to ensure safety to me and my pets :) just a fellow bystander of the event, People like to look for trouble I suppose unfortunate but it’s reality ????‍♀️????‍♀️

Their team is very professional and obviously care. However, at times they aggressively recommend and or suggest for tests or procedures that may not be necessary. I would recommend this facility to anyone who truly LOVES THEIR PETS!!!????????

Our 3 kittys received their annual vaccines. Always a super choice because the vet is so kind to animals.

This is the best vet in the area in my opinion. They were perfect with the dogs and the dogs did good with them. The place is very clean the people are nice they take the time to explain things.

I've been going to vca for a couple of years now for my dog tombstone. We took the doctors recommendation last year to put him on Prozac or generic version of it. After a year of being on it they said he needs to come in to be seen before they can refill the script again(understandable) since it's been a year. We made the appointment and also showed up for it this past April. When his script was low it was this past weekend. We called the pharmacy and his script hasn't been filled. So we called vca Monday and were told they would let the doctor know. We didn't get a call back that night, so we called again the next day(today) My wife was told the doctor didn't get in u til 12 and she would leave a note for her to fill it. I get home that same evening and they haven't reached put or filled his script. My wife expressed her concern about him being without his prozac(generic version) for to long and him having side effects since it is an antidepressant. So I called the same evening and was given the run around that she will leave a note. I asked of she can get the doctor now due to our concern . The women on the phone told me she's with a patient and will once she is done. At this point I'm concerned for my dog. Anti depressants have withdrawal symptoms and it seems it's not a concern to them. The disappointing part of this all is I was told he needed to be seen for his script to be filled and was never filled after the checkup witch we weren't even able to be apart of so I have no idea what they even did because of there covid restrictions, they never filled his script and are now pushing it off.

I love this Vet so much. They truly treat you like family and are willing to work with you financially when it comes to the care of your loved pet. Been taking my pup here since she was 1 and now she is 8 ???? and thriving and healthy as ever thanks to the care of VCA kirkwood!

I was taking my cat, Ezio, here for a couple months while he was sick, Dr. Roper and everyone in the hospital are amazing people and obviously care so much for the animals. All the staff were patient with my questions and were very understanding and compassionate. Unfortunately, my baby passed away but I know Dr.Roper and I tried as hard as we could. When he passed, they sent me a card and I greatly appreciated all the kind words that everyone wrote and I took them to my heart. I know Ezio appreciates them just as much as I do!

ALL the staff is great! Dr. Hermann and Dr. Roper, as well as the other docs, take time to talk to you about any concerns and questions you have, and you never feel rushed. Wonderful care and they never pressure you into any "extras".

On New Year's Eve, we had to make the sad decision to say goodbye to our cat. Unfortunately, our normal vet was closed due to the holiday so we had to find an alternative. The people at the hospital were incredible respectful and empathetic throughout the entire process. They made us feel like they had been treating our cat for years. We are incredibly grateful for their kindness throughout the entire ordeal.

Very caring staff fast to be seen great with my pitbull. Awsome doctors take time to let you know what's going on and make that you understand the issues and treatments in pain down to earth language.

The doctors and entire staff who helped us the night we lost our Ozzie were wonderful. I can"t imagine any other place could have provided better services and support. We are forever grateful they were there when we needed them.

We love Kirkwood Animal Hospital. They've been taking care of our dogs for years. They groom our dogs too and treat them like they were their own. We couldn't ask for better treatment.

Dr. Demarco is the best. She is there for you and your fur or furless baby. I have hairless dogs!
