ore to tell me I had to subject my girl to a full physical and bloodwork to get her nails trimmed and all those things couldn't be done in the amount of time allotted so they had to change my time (I'd already re-arranged my schedule and my husband's to make this appointment!!) I was FURIOUS & canceled. I sent an email stating my displeasure. Got a response from one of the vets. Since he made an effort to "save the client", she'd been there before and they're close to my home, I decided to stick w them. I canceled the appointment I'd made w another practice that took aviarys BEFORE I called them back to reschedule (BIG MISTAKE...) When I called them to schedule her the soonest I could get her in was December 19th(20th?) She's a tropical bird! Unless it's an emergency you don't take an Amazon parrot outside in Winter. If they'd cared about the welfare of my bird and were truly interested in saving me as a client (I also have 3 cats and do TNR work) don't you think they should have gotten her in ASAP? What vet tells a tropical bird owner to bring the bird in for a nail trim in the middle of winter? I tried to get her in over the summer and it ended up getting dragged out because of them...not me. I will NEVER again give a vet a second chance. They could have cared less about her level of comfort (her nails get stuck in carpet when too long) or mine for that matter. It was all about getting the money via an unnecessary vet appointment w lab work. I've kept her alive for 47 years and know her better then anyone else. They said they needed to get blood from her to make sure she was healthy enough for the "stress" of getting her nails trimmed. She was in the previous year and didn't need bloodwork then. Her nails were trimmed and everyone was happy. Why this sudden change? I'll tell you why...they changed protocol and instead of grandfathering me as an established patient they decided to try and "get me" well...THEY LOST ME!!! IF YOU LOVE YOUR PARROT GO SOMEWHERE ELSE that respects & listens to the pet parent and takes each case individually tailoring as necessary. Horrible way to do buisness and cruel way to treat my bird.

Lakeside Vet was our vet several years ago when we lived in Laurel. We moved to MD and had to find a new vet for our cat Tiger and our Saint Bernard, Fleury. We made the best choice, both animals always had incredible care and proactive health management. We moved out of the area, and do have a wonderful vet but do miss Dr Rhoudy and his staff. We were in the area recently driving by and thought how lucky we were to have fantastic vet care while there.

We needed to have our dog checked out while on a short stay in Maryland. Lakeside was able to squeeze us in on a few days notice and all of the staff were terrific. Being a new patient anywhere can take a while to get in, so being able to get Penelope in within a few days when we were worried about a GI issue was a huge relief. Thanks Lakeside team!

I brought an injured bird to Lakeside Veterinary Center. I prayed for the little bird to recover. My prayers were answered. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Dr. Rhody and his staff.

Dr. Rhody and his staff are awesome. They respond very quickly and my dog, Mylton, actually loves going to the vet. They treat him very well and I'm comfortable leaving him in their care. You won't find a more caring and knowledgable staff.

Dr. Rhody has been my rabbit’s exotic vet for 2 years now and he is amazing! The way he handles my bunny is with extreme care and sensitivity. He answers all my questions and concerns and is able to provide guidance on anything to make my bunny’s health better. The vet techs are also very professional, friendly, and accommodating. I highly recommend them, especially if you have an exotic pet!

I called to see if they were accepting new patients and unfortunately they were not. However they quickly recommended three other places with great reviews. The staff was obviously prepared and extremely courteous. I appreciated the help and references and not to be left at a dead end.

Dr. Rhody at Lakeside Veterinary Center was the veterinarian for my two cats from September 2017 - August 2018. One of my cats is in great health and the other is very sick. For the cat in good health, my experience was okay, but for my sick cat Dr. Rhody wasted my time and money. It was clear that he didn't know what steps to take to find a diagnosis for my sick cat so he suggested that we run blood tests four times without running any other tests. The front desk and veterinary assistants were great so they would call me every time the blood results came back from the lab and inform me that Dr. Rhody would read through them and contact me within one to two days to discuss the findings. The soonest Dr. Rhody ever got back to me was after several days. For my cat's second blood test, it took Dr. Rhody FOUR WEEKS after receiving the $400 results from Michigan State University to "find the time" to read through them and call me. All the while my cat is throwing up every day and refusing to eat due to the pain he's experiencing. I called his office one to two times every week asking if he had read through the results yet and they always said he would get back to me soon. For every blood test, the results were the same so after the third time receiving the same results, I asked Dr. Rhody if we could run a urinalysis. He DENIED my request saying that we wouldn't find anything and it would be a waste of time, but we should try a fourth blood test. After that phone call, I was done. I transferred all of my pets' records to another clinic who agreed to run a urinalysis The urinalysis showed blood in his urine which allowed the new vet to quickly create a treatment plan that worked.

Dr. Rhody and his staff are phenomenal. Dr. Rhody actually cares about his patients and its clear in the way he handles them and how he treats you. His staff are top notch too. Everyone is always smiles and willing to help out. I take my rabbits to see them and I am always confident that they'll receive the best care. Any future pets will definitely be visiting Dr Rhody and his staff.

My wife and I went through a tragic, horrifying experience, concerning our beloved family pet bunny Sparky. He was a Netherland Dwarf around 2 pounds with beautiful markings. We took Sparky to Lakeside Veterinary Center on Tuesday April 23, 2019 at 4:32PM, to be checked out for a runny eye and to check his mouth and throat. Dr. Rhody examined him and gave him eyedrops and antibiotic. He went to get the nurse who he said would show us how to administer the medicine. My wife and I and two nurses were present at the time. One of the nurses wrapped Sparky in a towel very tightly and said so he wouldn't hurt them or himself and pressed down on him like a sandwich. Sparky started squealing so loud and long, it was HORRIFIC ! and FRIGHTENING ! and a TOTAL SHOCK! AS IF HE WAS BEING PUT TO DEATH!! One of the nurses called Dr. Rhody, saying it was an emergency and told him to please come now. The nurse hands over our beloved Sparky to Dr. Rhody who unwraps him, and Sparky was traumatized, delirious and in pain. He was trying to walk but his back legs were dragging, while we looked on in disbelief and sadness. Dr. Rhody took Sparky to give him an X-ray. He returned and showed us the results, he said it didn't look too good that there was a couple breaks and that his spinal cord was severely damaged. He said we may want to think about putting him to sleep. This was so devastating and heartbreaking knowing that nothing like this was wrong with him when we entered there. We had taken a picture of him at 6:21AM that morning not knowing that this would befall on our dear Sparky this way. And to add insult to the injury and horror, no one apologized or showed deep remorse at that time. The same nurse charged us $90.00, when we were checking out making us feel like we paid that money to have his back broken and spinal cord damaged. We continued to care for Sparky in his condition, and went to the appointment set for the following week. We asked Dr. Rhody would there be no charge and work with us because we knew even though they didn't admit to it, we weren't responsible nor was Sparky for his tragedy. He said he would each visit until his death on Monday May 27, 2019 at 11:15 AM. It ruined our holiday. We miss him terribly and he was very smart and affectionate. Sparky didn't deserve to go out like that. WE LOVE YOU SPARKY !!! We will always remember how you tried to console us by taking turns coming to each of us laying your head on our laps on the bed in your condition cause you sensed we were upset. GOD BLESS YOU SPARKY!!!!!

Took some work find a vet in Maryland that was as knowlegable and professional as Dr. Rhodry. I'm an hour drive away now and will contine to see him. His front office staff has been amazing. I have an ancient lab and new puppy so they have been super helpful in dealing with both and with every new issue that arises. I thought I would have been losing my lab this year but they really turned her health around. I do wish they had a frequent visitor punch card at the rate my two seem to find trouble. Lol.

I have been trying to find a vet I really like since moving to the DMV. I was floored when the vet came in and actually Sat on the floor with my dog to make her feel more comfortable. Would highly recommend.

I am totally grateful and appreciative of Dr. Rhody at Lakeside Veterinary Center in Laurel. I've had many many buns pass away due to inept "exotic" vets; whereas he actually heals them! Furthermore, there are times when I've suggest an illness, and he *always* listens to my suggestion then explains why it could or could not be a possibility. If it can be a possibility, he'll test for it and from there we'll both know whether to rule it out or not. For a vet to listen to a "Pet Parent" and not immediately dismiss us-- that is indicative of genuine care of the creature's well-being. Dr. Rhody is, by far, the best vet I've ever encountered and his staff are amazing. If you need an amazing vet for any animal, I encourage you to go to Lakeside.

We love this practice and Dr. Rhody, who is truly so empathetic and caring. We are going through a very difficult time with our cat who has terminal cancer, and he has done so much to help, from performing surgery on her to recommending a surgeon to constant visits. The office is very responsive, they answer all of our questions with compassion, call us back right away, and accommodate us for emergency appointments. They also call us to check in on our kitty. This is a very sad time for our family, but we are glad to be in compassionate hands at least.

Dr. Rhody and his team are so easy to trust with my bunny, during her spay surgery, I had very little worries. She healed wonderfully, and the staff were so helpful along the way. I've also utilized the bunny boarding at this facility when I went out of town for a business trip and it was VERY reasonably priced. My little bun's spay was quite expensive, but I know that's because I chose the fanciest package and because they have such a high tech facility and excellent quality equipment. The extra cost is worth it for the peace of mind for the quality care of my little bun. I only wish they had 24 hour emergency care, there's nowhere else I'd rather go than here

I and my partner brought our bird here when she seemed severely injured and ill. They were able to take her in on short notice. The people here treated her with so much compassion from the moment we first came in. While she did pass away, they were very kind and even sent a sympathy card for our loss of one of our best feathery friends. If you ever need help for your pet I would highly recommend this hospital
