Barkley Square Professional Pet Services Falls Church, Maryland

I went to the Pet Spa at Barkley square for about 2 years regularly with my mini golden-doodle. Kristina, the owner, is a lovely person and in general sets a welcoming tone. Previously, they had great groomers and service, but over the last 6 or more months I feel they have been struggling. I have experienced much longer appointments than expected (4-6 hrs), shifting appointment times and just sending a notice without asking if it works with my schedule, staff turnover and callouts, and scheduling and payment issues when they switched systems. The last straw for me was when one of the groomers cut square patches into my dog. I called twice to complain and ask for my next appointment with a different groomer and my call was never returned. When I said I didn't want that to happen again, the groomer defended it (professionally) and said it was because of matting and the shaving was what I wanted and she knew that because of her 10 years of experience. I think her name was Katie or probably Karen, but I don't need to pay more than $2000 a year for someone to disregard my wishes for dog's groom and to make it all about them. I believe the customer should have a say in what kind of cut their dog should get in consultation with the groomer but I didn’t receive that courtesy or reassurance it would be differently in the future. Unfortunately, the customer service is not up to my standard so I found a better place to receive service.

I had a mobile grooming appointment booked for today at 11am and it’s now 11:45am with no show and no call or communication. I have called and left messages but you get sent directly to voicemail without having a chance to talk to a person. I was sent 4 separate texts leading up to this appointment and do not know why one couldn’t be sent to let me know that no one would be showing up.

my appt. was for 2pm, they call me 20 minutes before the appt. to say the have to cancel, cause they overbooked, if they do this to the customer think how they may be treating your pets.

Brought my kitten Whiskey there to get his nails trimmed . Tiffany was friendly and personable. She also gave me tips for my little kitten and told me about other services for my kitten. I’m looking forward to bringing whiskey back there for all his grooming needs

Hands down the absolute best mobile groomer ever! They are super gentle and truly care about the well being of your canine. They even let me hold my dog and calm him down while cutting his hair to get him used to the process. My dog suffers from trauma and anxiety due to going to Petsmart. I have never seen my dog come back sooooo happy from a groom. He was doing zoomies around the house! Tiphanie and George thank you so much! You are amazing.

I've brought both my dogs here (goldendoodle and labradoodle) multiple times and always had a wonderful experience up until our most recent visit. I was informed that my dogs previous groomers (Brian and Melissa) have left the salon unfortunately, and was hoping the quality would still remain the same but that does not appear so. Our most recent visit left us with increased prices, missed services (ears not cleaned and I'm pretty certain anals were not expressed, since they were smelly and feeling full a day later), and my goldendoodles haircut was patchy and blatantly missed spots that we had to trim ourselves afterwards. Honestly it saddens me that I feel I must look for a new salon, but I no longer feel my commute and the financial cost is worth it to come here any longer.

Took extra care with my nervous Rhodie. The convenience and professional cannot be beat. They were the nicest guys. My little girl was nervous at first and didn't want to go with strangers. When the nice gentleman dropped her off she was giving him kisses and jumping up on him like they were BFFs. I have already scheduled my next appt. Thanks Guys!

Been going to Barkley for over 8 years. Love them today as much as when I started. Good services. Great friendly staff. Best groomer I've ever found in terms of keeping pets only the needed time. Your dog won't be in a cage here for 8 hours. And if you have a puppy who needs to learn how to be ok at the groomer, they have a whole approach to just getting them used to the environment incrementally--setting your pet up for a lifetime of good experiences.

Brian did a phenomenal job with our one-year-old, seventy-pound, very excitable Sheepadoodle! He handled our dog with aplomb, and took special care to ensure that high-traffic areas were neatly trimmed and tangle-free. Thank you!

So glad we found Barkley Square! They called back when they said they would! They did a great job with my dog's grooming! And my dog loved them! Happy dog, happy me! It was worth the drive to Falls Church; we will be back!

Brian has done a wonderful job on grooming my rescue dog twice now. She’s always scared when she goes in, and happy when she comes out!

We take our dog into get a trim about 4 times a year and every time I leave wondering "Why do we not do this more often!" The staff is great and the quality of the work is top notch. Our dog can be nervous around other people, but he does well here. Highly recommend!

Cute, boutique groomer with caring, professional staff. I can't thank the staff enough for how gentle and nice they were to me and my older dog. The groomer did a fantastic job, and gave the exact cut I specified. I will definitely be back to this groomer!

I recently took my 8 y.o. Samoyed here for grooming and Barkley Square did an INCREDIBLE job! My dog has never looked so good. There is absolutely no comparison to previous groomers I've taken him to. The staff were all very friendly and you can tell that they really care about their work and the dogs they're grooming. I couldn't recommend Barkeley Square enough!

I had contacted several groomers in our area to groom our son’s dog and they were the ONLY ones who responded immediately. Even though their schedule was jammed packed they were accommodating. Great knowledge of dog!s grooming and dog’s need/temperament! Highly recommend!

I’ve been taking my Jack Russell mix to Pet Spa at Barkley Square for 3 years since I moved to Falls Church. They are wonderful with my dog! Simon isn’t exceptionally dog friendly, but everyone at Pet Spa handles him so kindly and lovingly that I can’t imagine ever going to any other groomer. Their services are competitively priced, they do a great job grooming Simon, and he’s not caged while he’s there. He’s a rather anxious dog so not being in a cage works for us! Melissa is the best groomer ever!! We love Pet Spa at Barkley Square ????

I take my mini goldendoodle here and he consistently gets a great doodle cut. Our original groomer at Barkley seems to have left, but have not noticed any change in quality with the next groomer. The grooming is pricey, but seems to be comparable to other groomers we have been to so that is not a drawback for us especially since he leaves not looking like a poodle. The only reason for 4 stars is because we did a cleanup groom (face feet and fanny) in December and they were pretty conservative so his face trim/nails were grown out after two weeks. We will happily bring our doodle back for all his grooming needs.

The people that work here are wonderful! They treat my dog like she is their own and she always comes out looking even more beautiful than before! Glad to have a great place like this right down the street from me. I have taken my two senior dogs to the spa since I moved to Falls Church 2 years ago. Brian, Melissa, Richard and the rest of the staff always treats my two with patience, kindness, and professional care. My "big guy" hates the dryer but Melissa has found a way to deal with him so that he no longer tries to bite it. I am grateful for their consistently excellent work and can recommend them without hesitation.

Very personable place. They have always been gentle and patient with my anxious dog. My whole family now takes their dogs there. Highly recommend.

I have known Barkley ever since I wanted a dog but grew up with a Shetland Sheep Dog then had a Pomeranian here at the store for 5 years I have Known Kristina for years and sh e runs the best shop I could wish you go to.

Melissa groomed my 15.5 year old standard poodle Maxine for the last 5-6 years of her life. Maxine was always excited to “get prettied” at Barkley Square and “see Ms. Melissa”. Melissa and the staff were very accommodating for Maxine who had very bad arthritis in her back hips and could not stand for long periods of time. The staff is extremely friendly, and take care of your pet as if he or she were their own. All pups get lots of pats and treats (which are homemade by the owner, Kristina), and come back from the spa looking great, smelling good, and happy. I would recommend Barkley Square to anyone who has a pet needing grooming in the Northern Virginia area. Barkley Square truly is the best pet spa in the area.

My dog gets nervous fast. These guys are great. They are very patient. Service is wonderful.
