This Banfield is the best one I've been to. The people are so great and they are very efficient.

Very friendly staff. It is easy to make appointments and navigate their websites. They have locations around the area and offer insurance plans to help with the care of ones pets. I have three cats, two of which have heart murmurs, and they really keep me up to date on their conditions. I use Banfield for their comprehensive exams, shots and dental needs.

Do not go here. I took my dog here earlier this year to get extractions and they were unable to extract all of his teeth in one go so they made me come back and pay to have another cleaning done so they could extract the rest. When I went back I inquired with them to make sure they could complete the extractions or if I should see a specialist and I was told they could do it in one go. When I went they were unable to do it all in one go again! And Dr. Flynn lied and said she told the receptionist that she recommends I take my dog to go to a specialist when the receptionist specifically told me that Dr. Flynn said she could do the extractions in one go. Therefore I have to pay to get another cleaning done so they can complete the extractions. This specific office is unprofessional and put pets through unnecessary extra surgeries.

I've been bringing our two cats to see Dr Cannon for the past 4ish years and I've just always appreciated how caring this team is and especially felt that during our visit today. Took our more anxious cat in today to address a few gastro related things we've talked about in the past and I just wanted to leave a review to appreciate how thorough, caring and communicative Dr Cannon is, and just how grateful I am for this whole team in the way that they lovingly treat our cats, and how understanding they are of our more nervous kitty. Really can't say enough great things, especially knowing that so many places are probably short staffed from the pandemic and yet the staff are still so great to work with. I am so glad we can bring our cats here!

To be fair I’ve had more positive experiences with this location than bad experiences. However that one bad experience caused me to decide to never utilize this hospital again. Poor customer service, some are rude, and abrupt, it’s in poor taste response to respond to the clients needs in a personal tone. As clients we are merely trying to manage our pets healthcare and the customer service agents, hiding behind locked doors speak to you as if they are aware that there will be no consequences due to the lack of face to face exchange. The 15 minute long wait times on the phone seem intentional and is unacceptable. Without our business they wouldn’t have a job so I suggest management teach their customer service agents how to properly respond to clients so that this hospital does not suffer a poor reputation due to its unprofessional service staff.

My wellness plan is expired on May 14, so I scheduled my dog to have a May 13 appointment to get her vaccine done. However, I couldn't make it due to an expected business meeting, so I called the hospital one day ahead to see if I can reschedule for the same-day appointment but different time. That way, I still can get my dog's vaccine done without passing the expiration date. The lady who took my phone call told me they didn't have any availability on that day but can put me to May 20th after discussing with somebody else (I said so because she asked me to hold on for a while). I even confirmed with her by asking:" Are you sure since the scheduled date is after the plan's expiration date?" She said it is fine. Today, I went to the hospital as scheduled and waited for a while and was told I should be charged for the exam fee and the vaccination per their policy. I explained the whole story and they still insisted. The lady even told me to free to call the headquarter then after I complain about it. I feel I am totally disgusted by the whole situation as a customer. I cannot believe they deny something said by themselves. I will continue to complain to the headquarter and other channels for the unfairness and time I wasted until this issue is properly resolved. I always see negative comments or review from either some of my friends or people posted online. I didn't believe it until I encountered.

I took my dog to this location...he is a much older dog and stop eating.I tried everything ..I kept changing foods ..I even tried feeding him myself and because he hasn't been eating he kept losing weight...I take very good care of my dog...I had him almost seventeen years ,he was adopted from the shelter .Anyway...when I took the dog to the vet they said he's not dehydrated but he is underweight in which I wasn't surprised because he has not been eating much but God knows I have been trying .They then suggested labwork and xrays but said even if that's done it's still not a certainty he'll be okay or they'll be able to reverse what's going in..but the charge will be $591.00 to get all this test done. These are very had times and I wasn't expecting to have had to pay that amount...she then suggested putting him to sleep because she said he's suffering...I said I'll give him a few more weeks ... because I wanted to perhaps get a second opinion or maybe try cooking other things and experimenting other food with hope to get him to eat... Everything was thrown at me at once and I was already sad and and tears...she seemed without any empathy told me she'll have to report the dog to animal control for a wellness check...I was thinking it was just because he's not eating... instead the doctor reported us as not taking proper care of our dog...our dog appointment was at 12pm...I wasn't home ,but by 5:25 someone showed up at my home and left a door hanger on my door from animal control stating that they came to visit because of a report that I am NOT taking proper care of my dog...this is such a sad time..and for this inaccurate allegations to be made is very unfair and concerning..in addition the unfriendliness of the staff... .. The evening of # I cooked some white rice with clumps of chicken and I allowed it to cool and I was so happy he ate it....My dog has been eating dog food for years...so now I'll have to cook for him..I'll do whatever it takes to help him...I just don't have $591.00 at this time for testing..but I call around and inquire about the cost for a second opinion or maybe a lesser cost for X-ray and blood work.. Hopefully I can get him feeling better with some cook food moving forward.

Have been going to the Columbia location for over ten years and have always had great service but recently moved closer to the Ellicott City so we thought we would try that location. Big mistake. Was told they only do curbside drop off, showed up ten minutes early for my appointment, called like they asked, was told I would get a phone call back shortly. After over 30 minutes and being given the run around and being talked down to by the person answering the phone I cancelled my appointment and told them I would never be coming back. Go to the Columbia location if you want good service.

I have found my new home. To start, the staff was so friendly, the place was very clean and neat, and the service I received was awesome. Dee at the front desk answered all my questions and really put me at ease when moving my pets from the Columbia location, (bad experience) to this one. Once in the room the tech and Dr. worked so well together and I am very hard to please as my dogs are just like my kids and I expect the same level of professionalism. The thing I really liked is that they took the time to explain the what and why behind everything being done with mu puppy that day. They made me feel like no questions was unimportant and that says a lot. Thanks for making me feel at ease.

Taken 2 out of 3 dogs there. Friendly and also informative. They work with all pets as much as possible. No real complaints.

OK vets, shady business model. Greatly inflate prices, then they push for their wellness program to "save" you money. Once they got you enrolled they treat you like the cable company. Only 2 visits, both rescheduled (by them) multiple times. THEY SUCK. You've been warned.

Really watch out when they start prescribing any internal medicine. They don't seem to have any deep knowledge or assurance in what they are assuming; everything is like blind testing. Do they see it for the first time in their practice? I see reviews down below that echo our frustration. Seems like a usual business. Not sure about anything anymore. Seemed like a simple case (don't want to post any leads to cause any retaliation), yet every visit is a test for some new medicine, tests, etc. Now after some pills prescribed other problems got triggered, bad problems. Just not doing anything would probably work out better. It's been visit after visit for the past two-three months trying to find the cause of the current condition. Spent hundreds already and got more serious health problems not connected to original issue. Just breaks our hearts.

We have always had an excellent experience and care for both of our dogs here. Dr. Cannon and all of the medical staff we have interacted with have always gone above and beyond. Very professional, but compassionate and caring as well. We couldn't ask for more.

Three weeks ago, I scheduled the second distemper booster shot for my 3-month puppy – Previously the shot was done at another Banfield location but it was too much distance for me to travel on a regular basis so I wanted to switch to the location that's closest to me, which is Banfield Ellicott City. When I made the appointment with this location, they are aware of this whole situation and they happily scheduled my puppy for a drop-off. Four days ago they even texted me asking me to confirm my appointment and I did. This morning as the drop-off was supposed to happen, I called to double check but was informed that my puppy WILL NOT BE WELCOMED upon visit because he's "too young and haven't had all his shots to do a drop-off" – The puppy's age and the fact he is in need of his second booster shot did not change overnight! Then they went on telling me I will have to reschedule and the earliest availability will be 4 weeks later when the puppy will have to start his shots all over again so I should go elsewhere. If this is a part of the hospital's protocol, I completely understand, but they could have informed me ANYTIME during the past THREE WEEKS or simply not have taken my appointment in the first place so I don't need to call up every other banfield location last minute worrying that my puppy's shot will be overdue when clearly no hospital would have a same day availability especially now during COVID. Every review talks about how nice and "professional" the staffs here are, but the fact they are so inconsistent with their service guidelines and so disregarding with your pet's health needs says enough about their professionalism and reliability. Maybe they already have enough returning clients that they only treat new clients this horribly? Either way, glad this visit didn't happen – never been here and never will now.

My dog was sad the whole day after the drop off visit. She usually feel pleased when we pick her back. Not sure what happened this time. Overall very good service but they increase wellness plan like 19% during pandemic. I hv cancelled it...

I’m rating Banfield 3 stars because availability is terrible. There have been a number of times when I have called to make appointments, and the next available appointment is 2-4 weeks out. There were two instances recently when I had to take my puppy to the ER (which is far more costly) because Banfield wasn’t able to see her. Aside from it being difficult to get an appointment, I like the staff and I am happy with the services they provide.
