From the emotional phone call requesting help to the difficult decision to let go of our family dog, every person at this facility was warm, compassionate and comforting. Thank you so much for helping us through a heartbreaking time.

We had our first experience with this clinic last month. The staff was very kind and helpful when I called to see if my dog could be seen urgently. I had a hard time getting the words out because I was crying but they were so patient. …

My dog, in all his infinite wisdom, decided to eat a pair of underwear. He threw it up, thankfully, but he had horrible diarrhea for the next four days. So, I took him to Pet+ER, because I was worried that the diarrhea indicated that there was something else lodged in his intestines, and then there was the risk of dehydration involved. He was seen quickly. They ran a panel of X-rays and bloodwork to make sure everything looked okay inside him. The vet was honest with me; she said she didn’t think it was explicitly NECESSARY to run those tests, but that she would’ve done them with her dogs, just to make sure. When I spoke with her on the phone about all of this, I was frazzled with worry, so I’m not sure that I was the easiest person to talk to—but she was very patient and empathetic and clear. She told me about all the medical conditions she was describing and then explained what they meant in laymen’s terms. She was so kind! I’m disappointed in myself for not remembering her name, cuz I’d really like to give her a special shout-out. The techs were great too. Super friendly and prompt. They sent my dog home with a prescription probiotic. This was last night, and already he seems to be clearing up. I hope your pet never find him or herself in crisis—but if they do, this is the place to be.

Had to take my dog here after he swallowed one of his toys this morning. Everyone I talked to was very friendly and luckily they were able to get him to throw it up! This was also my first time here, I didn’t realize it was so close to my …

Love this place the doctor , nurses , staff are so wonderful, highly recommend you take your pet in case of emergency. I was vacationing in Florida when my two dogs got in a fight and one needed a drainage tube placed in his chest , unfortunately we had to leave Florida to go back to Maryland and was unable to have the tube removed in Florida, when I got back home I contacted every emergency hospital in Maryland and everyone refused to take it out my dog they all kept saying I could bring him in and then call me back and said they can't see him ,called this pet+er in Columbia and they was so welcoming they told me just bring him ,the staff was so friendly and kind and the doctor removed the tube best place ever would used this place again worth it and price was very reasonable for emergency highly recommend using this place it is worth it on case of emergency for your pets.

Pet ER in Columbia, Md, has an outstanding emergency room for your beloved pets. My cat was experiencing a life threatening labor, and Pet ER was able to save her life. I had called several other Pet emergency rooms, and only Pet ER told me to bring her to the emergency room. The staff is friendly, very professional, and thorough.

Absolutely amazing, they treated my furry baby Luna perfectly.

Pet ER did not service my pet because he wasn't considered an emergency. Since he was considered stable (even though blood was coming out of his butt) they sent me to another hospital with a 36 hour wait time. The only positive experience was the nurse who checked my puppies vitals. She was pleasant and nice. I know most hospitals were at capacity New Years weekend, just a major inconvenience I had to take my sick puppy to another location and wait over a whole day for service.

It was so nice to have access to this ER after our dog ate 66(!) vitamins. They advised us to call poison control, after which we took him back to the ER. Thankfully, the dog was fine, but he did need to be sedated and have IV fluids. He had meds prescribed to protect his liver and we are so appreciative of the care he received. The total cost was $810, which is not necessarily the fault of the ER, more so an indictment of health care costs for animals in general.

This establishment has provided more than a service for our family. During the most difficult time in a pet owner's life... sending your fur baby to heaven, they provided comfort, empathy and support. They were beyond caring and sent our family a card with signatures from all of the employees there. I have never felt such warmth and compassion. Thank you PET ER for being such a loving and supportive facility.

The staff and doctors were all amazing...so caring and professional. I never for a second doubted that my dog was in the best hands he could be in. I needed to practice a good bit of patience as status updates and process took what felt like extended time. However I realize they are all dealing with many pets that are in serious trouble which is where their time and focus really should be spent.

VCA is a great vet. They definitely treat your pets like family. I definitely recommend anyone to use this that if they don’t have one already.

Our old man cat passed away early this morning at Pet ER, and the staff were terrifically kind as we made our decisions about his end of life care. We also brought our dog in for emergency x-rays a couple of years ago when he went to town on a pin cushion (and somehow didn't ingest a single one, despite the pins strewn about the house). Price seemed very reasonable for emergency x-rays and we felt like the staff at Pet ER did a really good job of recommending the right course of treatment. All in all, I've had two "good" experiences bringing pets here in very emotionally difficult times.

Took our dog there as he had been vomiting. COVID curbside check in went smoothly. All staff interacts were excellent. They kept our dog in as they had a few priority cases, but kept us well informed through the day. We had a couple of follow on questions that were answered, and we had a follow up call from the Vet - Both the original and follow call vet were super nice

Amazing staff, from Vet to technician to front desk. Expensive, but it's an ER so actually ended up costing less than expected.

I'd give 6 stars if I could. We brought our senior dog Winston in for what presented itself as a severe vestibular event. The staff was caring and both doctors were knowledgeable and explained their diagnosis, options and recommendations clearly. They also called both the Pet ER affiliated neurologists in Towson and Annapolis, and worked with Towson to squeeze us in for the day of discharge. The great advantage with going to Pet ER (Columbia, Towson, Annapolis) vs other emergency vets seems to be their affiliation with CVRC specialists. Regardless of whether one goes to the specialist step or not, Pet ER is a terrific vet. They even discharged us with blankets and a pillow for Winston. Thank you to the entire staff!

I had a really good experience with my dog here--keeping in mind that this is an ER, and the overall visit took a looong time because they were busy, and it was expensive. The doctor was super upfront about how much everything would cost before giving us treatment (if human ERs did that, what a thought!). For perspective, my dog is injury prone so I'm very familiar with the wait times and costs at vet's offices. Care credit and Embrace pet insurance are the way to go. The doctor who took care of us had read my dog's file (from the adjacent surgery specialists) beforehand and knew that my dog is very anxious, and was so good and careful with my dog. By the end of the appointment my dog was basically sitting on the doctor and giving him kisses, and before we'd left home he'd been crying and inconsolable. It's been a few days and my dog seems to be feeling much better, so I also think what the vet prescribed for him has helped.

They took my Cookie almost immediately. Wait wasn't too long and care was great. My Cookie is already feeling better.

My 6 months old dog jumped and landed on her leg and was in pain so I took her in to get checked out. We had such a positive and reassuring experience while she was being checked out. Very caring and thoughtful staff.

We are from Pittsburgh and were visiting Columbia for a few days when our Shiloh Shepherd started showing signs of GDV. We rushed him to Pet+ER because they were the closest to our location and we did not know the area, but we could not have picked a better emergency vet if we had tried. Dr. Kim and the entire staff gave our boy the best care and asked important questions. Unfortunately, our pup did not make it, but Pet+ER gently guided us through the whole process, and made it as easy on us as possible.  I never thought I would be writing a positive review for an establishment where I lost my treasured companion of nearly 12 years, but everybody here was just above and beyond what I ever could have imagined. We received our pet's remains and keepsakes in a timely manner, and even received a card from the whole team. I just cannot say enough about this practice and how great they were to deal with, especially during one of our darkest days.  They truly make me wish that I lived in Columbia! Thank you, Pet+ER for everything.

It took about $900 and 4 hours for the vet to not tell me anything. It was a “It might be this… but that may also be unrelated… so I’m not really sure, but here are some pain killers” -type diagnosis. Not pleased at all.

We couldn't have asked for kinder more compassionate caring providers when our beloved cat experienced a significant medical emergency and ultimately passed away. From the moment we arrived, we were immediately rushed into an assessment room and treated respectfully and kindly throughout. The severity and speed with which the event happened was so emotionally traumatizing for me, and all of the staff were incredibly patient, understanding, and truly compassionate about the terrible situation we faced. We truly appreciated the time each staff member took to explain things to us and the time and space they gave us at the end to say goodbye.

Truly a wonderful staff. My 14 yr old border collie mix was having a really tough time with vestibular disease. They gave diligent one-on-one/overnight care while openly communicating about how busy the clinic was. Dr. Kim and Dr. Hopkins were very informative and detailed in their care. The techs were so kind, patient, and attentive - to both humans & my pup. Would happily refer other pet owners to them!
