Great doctor...not so great staff. If you are a great doctor you should be absolutely certain you are represented on the front end by the same level of excellence. Following my recent appointment, I had to call the office to follow up on a prescription refill that I needed. I was told it would be done "when we get a chance." Yes, that's what I was told. You would think an explanation of how busy they are would have preceded the comment, but there was no mention of being busy. Not what any customer wants to hear when paying the fees for a veterinary specialist. So needless to say I'm moving on from this office.

The group at Animal Eye Care Center could not have been nicer and sweeter to my Snickers. They were so careful with her and took all of my concerns very seriously. They only ran the tests specifically needed and were very open and fair about the prices before we proceeded. Thank you so much for all of your help!!!

Dr. McGinnis is one of the most compassionate people I have met. My dog underwent surgery for cherry eye in early 2020. The entire process was seamless from scheduling, surgery day, to the post-op visit. I had a million questions and she answered every single one of them without hesitation. In addition, my dog is horrible at taking pills. He weighs 150lbs and therefore usually requires anywhere from 4-8 pills per dose. I asked if they had any alternatives so he wouldn't have to take 8 pills every 6-8 hours. They went out of their way to find me a solution. Fast forward to 2021. My dog now has an ulcer on his eye. I went back and forth with my regular vet 5x over the course of 6 weeks. After bringing him back to Dr. McGinnis, she had a solution at the very first visit. Because he had been suffering with this ulcer for so long, they acted quick and were able to schedule him for the NEXT day. Unheard of right? Surgery went excellent and now two weeks later, he's fully healed. I can't speak highly enough of Dr. McGinnis. My dog is my whole world and I absolutely trust her with him (even during COVID when you can't go in with them). If any future eye problems come up, he will 100% be back here.

We are so happy with the procedure to take care of 3 papillomas near our dog's eye! Dr. McInnis was very professional and provided all the information for us to make the best decision for our dog. The staff were very friendly and responsive to our questions. While I hope to not return for any more eye problems, I highly recommend this doctor!

Took My Bloodhound Patrick to them yesterday expecting the worse and him needing surgery, but Dr. McInnis and the vet tech erased that thought, they were awesome and his condition will be manageable with life long meds. Dr. McInnis talked …

Called to schedule an appointment for my dog. Their answering machine receptionist, was rude and sounded like a robot. When I could not understand her very highly pitch annoying voice; she hung up. I called back three times and no one picked up. Finally, attempted to schedule and to get clarity on their receptionist irate behavior. She answered and continued to argue. I politely could not get her to understand; customer service and concern for my animal. After, all she 1st line of communication for eye care. Now this ordeal is moot, sad. Will not be trusting my pet to this location.

Beware that this place over charges for their services and procedures. Go to Animal Eye Care Center in Gaithersburg MD. Better service and less money out of your pocket. My dog had a dermoid on her left eye and when I went to see them the estimate was $3,400-3,800 to remove my dogs dermoid. This seemed very expensive from all of the research we did for what to expect. We love our little girl and are willing to pay what we need to for her but we only have so much to put towards this type of procedure and we wanted to get it done sooner rather than later to ensure there wouldn’t be permanent damage to her eye. So I called around to other eye care centers which is a difficult task because most places refuse to give a quote until they see the animal. Finally, I found Animal Eye Care Center in Gaithersburg MD. Not only did they give me a general quote ($1,250) over the phone but they fit me in the next day for a consultation. I paid $169 for the exam at Columbia and $145 in Gaithersburg. The final estimate for her procedure at Animal Eye Care Center was $1,357. That’s $2,000 LESS!! Oh and I almost forgot to mention Dr. Smith has ten more years of experience than the Doctor in Columbia. When she spoke about my dogs dermoid she made it seems that it was horrible and that we needed to remove it as soon as possible. It was a complete 180 when talking with Dr. Smith, he stated that her dermoid was going to be fairly easy to remove and that there was only 30% on the cornea which where it can cause more damage. Most dogs are the opposite they have 70% in the cornea. Please do yourself a favor and skip a visit here.

My dog Rontu needed a double enucleation due to Primary Glaucoma. Dr. McInnis and staff at the Columbia location were phenomenal. They clearly explained everything to us, and helped us feel comfortable with the procedure. Dr. McInnis did such an incredible job on Rontu’s surgery, that it just looked like his eyes were closed! He was still able to retain feeling in his eye lids and surrounding areas. Absolutely wonderful work. Thank you again for everything, ECFA!

My dog was treated for glaucoma by Dr. McGinnis. She was caring, professional, kind, and responsive. She called and walked through his treatment plan, surgery and post op. She even answered the phone one time I called to make an appointment. She truly cares about her patients and their families. I am grateful for her commitment to her patients and her profession.

The staff is amazing, professional, clinically helpful and didn't overcharge for tests that they didn't find necessary.

Outstanding service and knowledgeable, kind staff! I had to call after hours to leave a message for the specialist. She called back within 5 minutes to discuss what was going on with my dog. She and a nurse (Katie) stayed until we got there (almost two hours later) and treated us happily. Katie was amazing and even helped me get the dog out of the car in the freezing cold. She was also impressively good with him considering he is NOT an easy dog to treat. I was amazed he didn’t give them any problems which just goes to show how great and trusting these people are! Even though it was after hours they both took their time answering my questions and didn’t make me feel like I needed to rush out of there. I even was able to call back the next day to arrange payment options (thank you care credit!). All of the staff I dealt with was genuinely happy to be dealing with me. How refreshing in this day and age of bad customer service. Every penny spent was WELL worth it. I would go back here a million times over and recommended it highly!

We went back for a follow up. Outstanding service again. My husband left his coffee mug and they called me to let me know they'll hold it until our next follow up appointment. The receptionist even washed it out. To my surprise, I bring up Google map and find that it's posted as permanently closed before I go pick up his mug. I called them to verify and they are OPEN. I hope this is just an honest mistake. Service is outstanding, and for animal clinic very clean.
