I had never been there before and I had an emergency with my dog and they got him right away same day. Staff members were all so friendly

DocSide has been my vet for 16+ years through 3 dogs. I can't imagine finding an office or vet that cares more about their patients or clients than Dr. Tierney and the team. They have always gone above and beyond to give the best care possible, with all factors in mind, and are THE best.

The vet called my adopted dog a "lemon" because she had a couple issues.

I was so pleased with my experience at Doc Side vet. As a new patient and new dog owner, my vet and tech took the time to answer my questions and do a thorough check up on my new pup! Thank you!

The staff at DocSide are extremely helpful, knowledgeable, ans genuinely care for the well-being of our pupper and all pets! Dr. Tierney have us a wide variety of treatment options for our Dog's ear infection, that she happen to notice during a check up. The other staff members also helped guide us through various treatments, vaccines, and preventative medicine. All in all, I would HIGHLY recommend DocSide!

Would give zero stars if I could. DocSide doesn’t care about you or your pet. All they care about is money. They handled our senior cat with hip dysplasia very roughly, grabbing and dropping him in ways that I would NEVER do because he’s in CONSTANT pain. I mentioned MULTIPLE times that he has hip dysplasia and is in pain. They also up-sold us on more than $100 of unnecessary tests that, based on his history, they knew he didn’t need. We asked over the phone how much blood tests would cost, but instead of being transparent, or even offering a range, they said “we can’t estimate that because we won’t know until we see him.” Yet, they knew he was a senior cat, because we told them over the phone. So they could have easily said, “Senior cat blood work is around $400”. And when we asked about the itemization of our bill while checking out, the receptionist was incredibly dismissive and the tech/nurse was even worse. They are jerks and don’t care about patients or their people. Plus no parking and no curbside pickup service. Don’t waste or your time or money at DocSide. Edited to add: the space is DIRTY! i’ve never been to a vet with so much pet hair all over the exam room. and someone’s lunch was in the tiny fridge in the exam room. so gross!

I cannot thank Doc Side enough for everything they have done for me and my dog since I adopted him in September 2018. They helped us get set up to register with the city and sort out all of his vaccinations immediately. He was diagnosed with a degenerative heart disease in October 2018 and has had several medical emergencies since then, including urgent medical care at Doc Side and referrals to a cardiologist and Vet ER. He has been on 5 medications since 2018 and they have helped us navigate regularly getting them filled. At every turn, Doc Side has been communicative and supportive. My dog's original vet was Dr. Martini, who was an amazing vet who truly went above and beyond to help me and my dog. After she moved, Dr. Tierney has helped us. Both of them have been incredibly kind and empathetic to me and my dog. They always explain everything going on with with him clearly and spend time answering questions. They are also sensitive to how costly the care is and have helped me make decisions about how to balance his needs and my finances. We had several end-of-life discussions that were always very holistic and kind. Every person I have ever interacted with at Doc Side, from receptionists to nurses to vets, has been helpful and truly caring towards my dog. My dog has outlived his prognosis by over 14 months, and I credit a lot of that to the amazing support I've gotten at Doc Side. Thank you again for everything you have done for us! I am sad to move away from Baltimore and from this supportive practice.

5 stars for Dr Herling, he is the best vet in town, knowledgeable and caring for the pet; ---- however, I give 0 stars for their prescription service. One, they start charging $10 "processing" fee for sending a prescription to any 3rd party pharmacy. Two, their pharmacy charged way too much expensive compared to any other pharmacy out there. My dog needed a B12 injection shot, the vet charged me $12 for showing me how to do it, and charged $45 for the shot bottle, which on Chewy is only $5. I emailed them about such a price difference for an explanation, and they said i am welcome to get the prescription in future and take it to other pharmacy. This is heart breaking, i really love the vet, but their pharmacy is just way too expensive for me. I don't know what to do.

Dr. Whitfield and the whole staff always take great care of my dog. He was having some stomach issues that were very concerning and they managed to squeeze him in for a next day Saturday appointment which was such a relief. They make Bodie feel right at home and he's always excited to see them!

Overall, the vets are great and the staff is friendly. I had two instances that is making me look for a new vet. The first, my puppy got spayed. She is an Australian Shepard, so high energy. When I asked about laparoscopic options, I was told that although it was about $1,000 more, she would be able to walk/get some physical exercise within 3 days. I decided to go with the more expensive option so that my high energy pup wouldn't have to be so "quiet" for the other estimated 10 days. Upon returning, I was told that although I paid for the more expensive surgery, the recovery time was the same. That's fine. But I wish I was told this before. Disconnect in information, which made me feel like I paid extra for nothing. I also asked specifically if I needed a prescription for probiotics, or if they could be found online cheaper. The staff told me to get them through the office. Later research, tells me otherwise. I think the biggest kicker of this situation, was my dog had adverse effects to anesthesia, and experienced some diarrhea. I get it- this happens. But she was returned to me, in her altered state coming out of surgery with poop covering her bottom fur. How long was she left alone recovering that someone didn't catch that this happened? It was extremely unsanitary the amount of poop on her, and next to an open wound of surgery. I was extremely displeased that this was not professionally cleaned off when she was returned to me. A nurse did apologize upon calling. My last instance that will encourage me to leave, I used Lysol in my home. I did not realize even in another room, the fumes could create a sensitive reaction to my dog. I called doc side in hopes to quickly talk to a vet or vet tech, but was told by the secretary there were too many emergencies they were dealing with today and to call poision control. This was at 2pm on a weekday. I get it if there's not a toxicologist available, but I am a patient that should at least be able to talk to a professional when in emergency during business hours. Overall, it was a convenient option, and nothing horrible happened, but I won't be staying.

Short notice, but since my husky was in distress, they saw her same day. Staff and doctor very professional, reassuring, loving. She responded well to treatment within 24 hours. Thanks again!

Very bad experience here. We took our 8 week old puppy here to get his first checkup and they ended up double vaccinating him. He had already received his first round of vaccinations, which the breeder had done 2 days previously. I had a paper listing all the vaccinations he had just received. I told the vet tech “he just received these vaccinations” and handed her the paper. Unfortunately the vet tech did not relay this information to the veterinarian and they ended up giving him 3 of the same vaccinations. The vet stated she just assumed that the vaccinations were from a while ago, since the paper wasn’t dated, and went ahead and gave him the shots. Why is the vet assuming things before consulting with us? You shouldn’t be doing that in the medical field. The veterinarian was very nice about everything, but she must have been fresh out of school and new because her answers were not broad or in depth. She did not sound competent. I won’t be returning here.

The staff and Doctors are all very nice and professional. Our dogs have been in good hands with any doctor that has seen them. When our oldest dog Pumba had to be sent to the rainbow bridge last year they were so amazing to us through the process. We are especially grateful to Dr. Tierney. She has been an angel. Her care and compassion are above and beyond our expectations. We are eternally grateful. Shenzi and Timon say you are Pawesome!
