Just moved into town and started taking my dog here....she loves it!!! Tried out A Dog’s Day Out also in Arlington, THE BOARD HOUND is better by a long shot: more professional, more attention to detail, and don’t charge you for the “try-out” period!

I have been bringing my dog to both the Shirlington and Alexandria locations for two years and they are both fantastic. Everyone is friendly and you can tell that they all really care about dogs! They are very quick to respond to requests for boarding or daycare availability. We have done both and my dog loves it there - when I board her she always wants to stay! The pricing is very comparable to other daycares in the area and I have always felt it to be fair. If you are considering daycare or boarding for your pup (they also have grooming options) this is the perfect place.

Our dog has been going to the Board Hound for almost 2 years. It is a reputable business-- dogs are well cared for and staff is very friendly. Highly recommend.

I have taken my dog Zeus to the Board Hound since he was a puppy. I cannot speak highly enough about the Board Hound’s excellent service and professional staff. They treat Zeus like family and he loves going to daycare!

Cannot say enough good things about Board Hound! We started out at puppy play, went though Puppy K and now take her to daycare weekly. The entire staff is so friendly and knowledgeable. The facilities are so clean and I never have any worries leaving her there. We love it here!

We've been bringing our pup to Board Hound for over three years now and I can't say enough great things about the staff and the top notch care he receives there. We first took him to daycare in May/June 2016 as a 3-4 month old puppy and did a five day boarding shortly after that -- we were nervous, but it's been nothing but great every single time! He never looks back when we walk in for daycare b/c he's so thrilled to be there. And he's always exhausted from playing at the end of the day. We've had zero issues with boarding, and he's so fluffy and clean after baths there. I've found every staff member there to be helpful, responsive, kind, and generally enthusiastic about their work. Can't thank them enough for the great care they've given Clyde!

Awesome service and amazing staff. They are wonderful and my dog loves going for either daycare or overnight stays. The staff are great with the dogs and circulate them in and out of play pens depending on each dogs' energy level.

The Board Hound was a lifesaver for me and my Australian Shepherd. After a bad experience at a different local daycare that left my pup terrified, I thought we would never be able to enjoy other dogs again. The Board Hound came as a recommendation from another dog owner in my neighborhood. I was so nervous his first day and the staff were kind, knowledgeable, and patient. He passed their daycare trial with flying colors (after doing really poorly at other chain facilities we tried). My aussie now attends daycare on a regular basis and even did a 9 day stay while I was in Europe. They will email you updates and are always available to answer any questions. All of the doggy care takers really care about your pet. There has been so many times they did not know I was there and I have seen them on camera giving extra pets and belly rubs. Remington is so excited to go to daycare and once he arrives is always so happy to see the employees and is finally happy to be around other dogs again. Their facility is clean which you can see and also tell because your pup does not leave with extra smell. The owners are qualified and kind, and the staff is just as great. They have a strict capacity policy which I love because it keeps the dogs safe and allows for more attention from the staff. There is even an upstairs play area for days with nice weather. The wait to sign up may be long but it is also a sign of how worth it is.There is not enough time to share how thankful my aussie and I for the board hound!

I really wanted to try this place out for boarding my dog. I recently moved to the Arlington area and needed somewhere to board my dog kinda last minute due to our move. I found out about 2 and a half weeks in advance and thought I’d try to see if I could get my dog in. I corresponded a little with management through email, where they told me he would need an evaluation prior to his stay. Totally fine! However, they wanted to schedule me AFTER the dates I needed to board him. Obviously that wasn’t going to work if I needed to do it prior to the boarding so I decided to give them a call to try and work with them instead. After trying to explain the situation and see if they could work with me, the woman LAUGHED at me and refused. I couldn’t believe how rude and unprofessional this was. I understand needing to ensure dog safety however, life happens and sometimes you just need a little understanding. Instead what I got was rude and inconsiderate. Glad I could provide her with a good laugh today.

This place is great. Our dog has lots of fun when staying here for just the day or a multi-night stay. They have limited capacity, so if you want to take advantage of them for holidays schedule in advance. They also require a test run to make sure your pet won't act out during doggy day-care. My only criticism is they require you to individually bag the servings of food (which doesn't work well with wet food!) when you kennel your dog there, and the parking is a bit sketchy (limited street parking on a busy road)

Our dog absolutely loves going here. The staff are professional and take great care of the dogs and all the dogs have fun in a safe environment.

Excellent daycare and staff. After visiting multiple places, Board Hound was the only place I would allow my 13 year old three legged boy to go for the day when needed -- even though I live and work in DC. I lost him a couple years ago and will definitely be taking my new pup back.

I taken my American Staffordshire Terrier"Egypt" to Board Hound, Dogtopia and Wag Time. The staff is ALWAYS helpful at Board Hound, Victor, Emily...I think that's her name...ALWAYS helpful and Egypt always returns exhausted and happy. I alternate between Board Hound and Dogtopia. I will NEVER take my dog back to Wag Time!

I just moved to Arlington, so this was the first local kennel I decided to try for my 1 year old dachshund jack russell mix. I liked that they did a behavior evaluation for all dogs before allowing them playtime while boarding. I checked "no" for grooming because my dog is 18 lbs and short haired; I easily and regularly bathe her myself. My dog stayed at the kennel for 4 nights. 64 hours after I picked her up, I was rushing her to the animal hospital with a severe case of kennel cough. I understand that this is a very common illness and that since my puppy was due for her vaccines a month after the stay, it was poor timing and not necessarily the kennel's fault. But my dog is also all white, and when I picked her up she was covered in feces. As mentioned I opted out of grooming, yet I still find zero comfort in knowing my dogs ears, snout, back and paws were caked in dried poop for however long. Between the two: being covered in what I hope was her own poop and being very ill for two weeks following her stay, I will not be using this kennel for my dog again.
