My goldendoodle hair was matted. They did amazing job dematting and brushing the hair. The owner was so kind and professional. I'm very happy and satisfied. Excellent work and very professional. Definitely recommended. Thank you very much!

I read the many rave reviews below so… maybe this was just a one time situation and unfortunately it happened to our little pup but feel the need to share our experience with others. We wanted to love For Pets Sake, but we will never be returning. This is our second visit, we brought him there for a quick walk in to clip nails/clear his ears - it was quick and easy we set up a grooming appointment right away. We are new to the area so felt like we found a win! I have not had the ability to call back over to the shop, they are closed until Tuesday but I will be calling to understand what happened to our Schnoodle while in their care. We wanted to give him the day on Saturday to relax and hoped he bounced back on Sunday - that has yet to happen. Our friendly, happy and very energetic 9 month old is now petrified, still visible signs of ‘uneasiness’ over 24 hours later. He’s been groomed before and NEVER acts anything like this. It is extremely sad and we feel ultimately responsible for bringing him to a place that must have mistreated him. We dropped him off around 8AM and he was ready to go home at 12PM. He was lethargic when we picked him up, was not excited to see me (that is NOT like him) — was he given some sort of sedative to calm him for his grooming? Since we’ve brought him home he doesn’t want to go near us, hiding from us staying in his crate and he’s been sleeping all day long. He is sitting like he was beaten. He’s a 9 month old puppy, with a lot of energy that in one 4 hour grooming session is destroyed. It’s been a really awful day trying to get him to just get up and play he’s so scared. As any pet owner who loves their dog and now feel responsible that we brought him to a place that really hurt our dog. I want to know what they did and I wouldn’t ever recommend this shop to another dog owner who cares about their animal. If only that was it and somehow it was a good output from the (also not cheap..$100 +tip) cut. It’s terrible and will take a long time to regrow/groom back to the Schnoodle standard. I specifically asked to trim his face down, while maintaining his beard & eye brows. They just took a buzzer to his whole face & body - I could have done that on my own. His ears are cut down so far he whimpers every time we touch them. Then he has little nicks throughout his body and by his eyes. And his eyelashes - they weren’t trimmed at all he looks like a VW Bug with the fake car lashes on the lights! It’s overall just a terrible and extremely sad experience - I’m hopeful it was just an off-day at For Pets Sake, and praying we don’t have residual effects on his next grooming experience *at another location.

Seriously. I have tried five other (even going into DC) area groomers, and I have been disappointed. I have worked with animals for most of my life, so don't expect miracles, but I do expect some level of professionalism and for my dog to have relatively the same length of hair on her right side as her left side... That said, For Pet's Sake did a tremendous job with my standard poodle. Really great, even clip, awesome environment that isn't crazy stressful for the dogs (I have never seen her just lay there and not even notice when I arrive. Who's dog is this?!), and really friendly staff. I will absolutely be booking again.

I've used 3 different groomers here over the years and had great experiences with all of them. One of my dogs is challenging to groom and they've always been patient and accommodating, and I appreciate that extra effort. I've referred them to other dog- owning friends who all had positive reviews. The pricing is comparable to most grooming salons in the area and I think reasonable for the services. The two reasons I won't give a full 5 stars would be that 1) I've had multiple scheduling issues over the years where appointments are lost or on the wrong day, despite making them weeks in advance and 2) it bothers me that they groom cats up front, out in the open where ALL the incoming and outgoing dogs have to pass which clearly and not surprisingly stresses the cats. I'm happy they groom cats, but think the setup is unnecessarily and genuinely stressful. So overall I'd recommend them to even the pickiest DOG parent. If your cat has no issue with strange dogs you're good to go too.

Been to many groomers with my now 6 year old Yorkie. They are fantastic, got something special going on. My baby never looked better. I highly recommend them.

My wife and I have 2 domestic long hair cats who are not aggressive by any standard. They're pretty docile but definitely get a little scared when they're around new people. This place did a great job getting our cats groomed! That's cats didn't appear to be traumatized or anything after I picked them up and they seem to be enjoying their new haircuts. They were also able to do an anal gland expression on one of our cats which definitely helps. I'll likely use their services again!

BY FAR the worst cat grooming experience we've ever had. Over 12 years and many different groomers, she has never looked this terrible. We asked for a bath and sanitary trim (just the behind and long paw hair). She's a long hair Maine Coone and we like her that way. She came home with an extremely sloppy full body cut- uneven with scraggly long tufts at her knees, belly, and behind. Sadly they also nicked some whiskers. I doubt they gave her a bath—she has tons of visible dandruff and loose hair coming off and doesn't feel clean. She doesn't seem happy either, and has been sulking since she got home. She usually loves getting groomed and has a little pep in her step afterwards. What were they thinking?!! Feel so sorry for my baby :(

This is really more a 3.5 star review...want to give the benefit of the doubt to small businesses during this time. I have had my husky mix groomed here three times, majority of the time with great results that really helped her shedding. Always found making an appointment to be a smooth process with good availability. Staff are generally friendly and seem well organized. However, I noticed my dog was always crazy thirsty at pickup the first couple of visits. The last visit I asked specifically if they could provide her water while she waited (which shouldn’t really have to be asked for). Not only was she still crazy thirsty when my husband picked her up (about 4-5 hours between drop off and pick up) but her very high quality (ie not cheap), hard-to-destroy leash was chewed completely in two. That would mean she was left alone, stressed, and unsupervised for a very long time. She does not normally do this in other situations. It’s not a lot to ask for water and some care and supervision if your business model is drop off and open-ended pick up later in the day. If you don’t have the staff or capacity to care for dogs in between grooming, there should be more formal appointment times to avoid this. We got a very cheap replacement leash after my husband said he wouldn’t leave without a leash, without much apology. Just very disappointed, because it’s a business I was very happy to support during the pandemic.

I love this place! Everyone here is so kind. Kate does an excellent job with my two large breed dogs. Very decent pricing for the area, paid much more for less than great grooming elsewhere.

They always take great care of my boy. I typically get the Furminator treatment for my Husky mix, and it works wonders.

Very pleased with custom shave/brush of my 21-year old cat. We discussed what was appropriate, and the groomer did just what I asked for. Now kitty is happier without all those matts!

Meticulous, and careful grooming for my cat! Visiting dogs were groomed beautifully, too. Decent prices, excellent services by friendly staff.

I paid $95 to be told my Golden Retriever needs drugs to be groomed and at minimum we were handed some herbal pills for calming. That was the groomers excuse for not finishing the job and still charging full fair. A huge hint was as she was walking our dog through the salon someone’s regular size poodle barked angrily at my dog and lunged at him. Of course the problem was with MY dog. Funny how the groomer didn’t consider it was her inability to do her job well. An honorable person would have charged me half for what was done. My dog came home significantly traumatized from the four and a half hours he was kept there for a basic wash and trim. It took him an hour after we got home before he began to settle down. First and last time I will take my dog to be groomed here.

Han does a great job with my dog Nugget. She cuts his hair just as I would like each time. I attempted to cut his hair my first time and he turned out looking like a little rat dog, Han fixed him up and didn't cast judgement lol. He can be a challenging pup, but he's always so adorable when i come to pick him up. Much appreciated!
