I can tell the doc's focus is on the animals, not selling, not pacifying, or anything else. First vet I've quickly felt comfortable with in years.

I am glad others had a positive experience at Elpaw. Unfortunately, we did not. The vet herself was great, very responsive to our questions and attentive when we could actually see her. However, the receptionist was possibly the most unprofessional I have ever encountered. For example, after a visit our dog was having a reaction to some medication and we wanted to bring him back in for a follow up. Another time, we discovered one morning that our dog had pink eye and we were worried if it was not treated quickly he would give it to our older dog. In both cases, we were told there was no time available for weeks. When we asked the receptionist to check with the vet about what we could do or if we could bring him in for a quick visit because of the adverse reaction, he flat out refused. He just responded that we should take our dog to an animal ER (which will charge us $500 for any visit). When we pointed out that requiring us to go to an ER for something that can be addressed in 5 mins by the vet is unreasonable, he claimed that was our only option. Every other vet we have visited reserves some time in their schedule for urgent or follow-up visits. Either Elpaw will not do this, or the receptionist is preventing patients it. By allowing the receptionist to dictate who actually gets to see the vet, it didn't matter how good the vet herself was. We ended up having to do follow ups and urgent visits at other vet offices. After a while of having to take our dog to another vet more often than we could get time to take him to Elpaw, we started to think it doesn't make sense to keep coming back. My last visit was the final straw. My dog was supposed to have a routine physical, but he had also been neutered only 3 months prior. During the visit, a vet tech tried to admonish me about getting flea/tick/heartworm medicine. I was getting the medicine (of course), but I was getting it through Chewy.com. Instead of caring about whether my dog was getting medication he needed, the vet tech was more concerned about whether I was buying it from THEM so they got that money. And then I discovered that I was being charged for testing that they decided to repeat even though they had just done the same testing 3 months prior to clear my dog for the neutering surgery. The last visit impressed upon me that this clinic was looking at me like I was a cash piñata rather than a client/patient. If I'm going to pay through the nose, I may as well go to a vet that can see my dog for follow ups when he has an adverse reaction to medication or contracts an infection and needs antibiotics urgently. Frankly, as good as the vet is, I found her office's practices unprofessional and not worth the hassle.

My dog came down with pink eye (conjunctivitis) and I attempted to schedule an appoint. They said they were all booked up. I replied it can wait a couple days until you have an opening. They refused to put me on a waiting list to schedule an appointment. My dogs have been going to Elpaw since 1986. I have been a loyal customer for 35 years and was very disappointed how I was treated. Needles to say I will never take my dog there again.

They are very good at handling cats. They treat my Willow with care and as though she was a hooman. ???? Also, they actually follow up on tests promptly, that are done.

Very caring and thoughtful employees that love your pets. Excellent Covid-19 procedures are in place. Call to let them know you've arrived and they promptly come outside with any questions or paperwork for you. If there's no one in waiting room, you can come in and wait or stay outside. The Vets are excellent and will call or come to you and answer all questions after explaining how the examination went. I highly recommend this clinic and appreciate all their kindness and caring approach to petcare. *****

Probably one of the best vets I have encountered. The entire experience was amazing. My boyfriend brings his dog here and after multiple failed appointments around town with other vets and her condition worsening, I decided to make an appointment with Elpaw. My cat has been over grooming and excessively licks to the point where she has lost hair on her belly, legs and tail. Every vet I have brought her to, they just shrug it off that it’s not a big deal and probably allergies or stress. Elpaw actually took the time and evaluated her. They gave me some answers and insight of what it could be and a plan to help her. FOOD ALLERGY! I am so thankful I brought her here after multiple failed attempts to figure out what is wrong with her. Thank you Elpaw for giving Una the time of day, being caring, compassionate and willing to help us. Una and I can’t thank you enough!

When I first moved to Alexandria I saw Elpaw had amazing reviews online and it's so true. I love that they have separate entrances for cats and dogs. Dr. Yungk is amazing with cats and really gets them. I've found most vets are "dog people" who also treat cats but Dr. Yungk is the best vet if you have kitties. Easy to make appointments and they have reasonable prices for the area. Plenty of parking too.

Do not go here if you value your time and good customer service. I've lived in Alexandria for 6 years. I've had my lovely mutt for about the same time. I moved from Potomac yard to landmark area 2 years ago. Last year i decided to go to El Paw since i can actually walk there from my house. The vet techs are awesome. The vet was fine but brief. The receptionists were the worst. They are unprofessional and lack common sense. I never received the vaccination records after my appointment although i requested it there. I was told to request it by email. Never got them. Today i called at 1000 and was told that they were too busy to help me right away because the person responsible for sending records was busy updating and sending records for surgeries. 4 hours later i call again But insist this time. Now the receptionist can send it directly to the groomer by fax but the email will still have to wait... Huh?! If you value customer service don't go here. If you need vaccine records quickly, don't go here.

This veterinary has been thus the worst experience I have ever had with any other place. The Vet was a great first visit but once they took my money and when I went back for a follow up shot required when calling to check in on the set time that me and the vet agreed on I encountered a rude unprofessional receptionist who lacks simple manners. She bluntly refused to give me the Drs email so that I could get into quicker contact with her to find a solution to her mistake and then I was placed on hold just to be hung up on and when I called back she wanted to get into a back and forth argument about who hung up. This is not the type of person that should be in the front representing the company it was quite a frustrating and draining interaction. Once I am done with this shot and follow up I will never be coming back to this place again. I say save your money and go somewhere else that’s cheaper and much better service and care for your furry friend.

Everyone is always so helpful and professional. Been taking my dogs here for years after bouncing around a few vets that were less attentive.

I have taken both of my cats to Elpaw for the last year from the day that I adopted them. All of the workers I have encountered have been helpful and always placed the health of my pets first.

Have had a great experience at Elpaw. They have been kind, caring and don't try to push you to buy supplements or other things like other vets in the area. You get the care needed with straightforward pricing. What initially brought me here was that my older dog was having some skin and hair loss issues that were not getting any better after going to my former vet. The prior vet's solution was try to change his diet and use some expensive shampoo. After no changes and still feeling something wasn't right, I came to Elpaw and they immediately took skin tests and blood tests to diagnose the issue (thyroid). They listened and checked all the things I thought might be symptoms or problematic. They answered my questions and explained why they were doing any test or what that funny bump might be. Those tests combined were about the same cost as the checkup and shampoo at the last vet and the issue was diagnosed and fixed immediately. Highly recommend!
