Don't bring your furry loved ones here. This emergency care center specializes in euthanasia. Nothing but tears and heartbreak in this place. I couldn't sign up for antibiotics without commiting to $7000 exploratory surgery. When I was debating on taking my pet home for a second opinion they made me feel like a terrible owner for leaving my pet in pain and not putting him down. I should have waited. I have many regrets. But mostly for coming here.

UPDATE: I still love the practice and give them a great rating. Prices are still excellent and fair for an emergency veterinary hospital. I recently had to take my nine week old puppy because I was concerned she may have bloat and I didn't want torsion to occur. They were very communicative and the vet spoke with me after he had seen her. The only bit I wasn't thrilled with was the vet tech who checked me out. I received a mini lecture on vaccines because I she hadn't had any. Then I got the Parvo warning. "If your dog gets Parvo it will cost $4,000 to treat and there is no guarantee the dog will survive." Then she told me that Taste of the Wild is not a good brand of food and I should be feeding a good commercial diet. Her versions of "good" commercial diets is Pro Plan, Hill's Science Diet and Royal Canin. I did a lot of research before choosing my puppy food and I won't feed my dogs anything with chicken. I thought that was a bit high handed. I will continue to go because the vets and the care are wonderful. I just won't listen to a vet tech who decides I don't know anything about dogs.

I didn’t even let my dog be seen here, after arriving and speaking with the staff I chose to drive another 45 minutes to Anne Arundel and I suggest anyone reading this do the same. As soon as I got there, all they cared about telling me is to get my dog seen it would be $600. When it comes to my dog, money is no issue, BUT there was zero concern for how she was doing. They only wanted to talk about money. My dog has a back injury and had a bad flair up, and they said they would do blood work and an x-ray. Anne Arundel said an X-Ray would NOT show the issue for this back problem. I paid $242 for my dog to be taken back immediately and given 3 different medications at Anne Arundel while this place wanted $600 before she was even seen. If you love your pets, DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME HERE.

The woman at the front desk was very nice but that's about it. I sent my dog in to make sure she had all her pups since she only had one. I made everyone aware that my AmStaff wasn't friendly with other animals and tho she is friendly to people she did just give birth and was having anxiety from being separated from her pup. I sent her off muzzled. Everything was going fine up until near the end. I'm not sure if this person was a tech or not but some short haired, thin woman came with my dog and some muzzles to inform me that my dog was 'trying to kill everyone' and was 'being very aggressive'. However she had my dog on a thin leash and my dog was walking calmly beside her-not showing signs of aggression.(where had the first muzzle gone? If she was so dangerous how did she allow you to leash her and walk with her? I didn't ask these questions but these did cross my mind- my question was- what happened?) As I tried to garner more information she had an attitude like I was holding up her time. So I got on the phone to call the facility that I'm standing in front of because she either didn't have or didn't feel like giving me answers. I was told on the phone she was a tech and would be able to explain- Even though when I asked if she was she told me no. At this point the woman had gained more of an attitude and just kept repeating 'we just need you to muzzle her- just muzzle her' - as I'm on the phone she throws her hands in the air, hands me the leash and walks off. The person on the phone informed me that they were trying to give my dog some fluids with an IV/needle (which I was unaware of as no one expressed that to me otherwise I would have told them I needed to be there for that as my dog needs to be coddled for those). I bypassed the fluids because clearly my dog was having some anxiety and they just didn't care to acknowledge that. My dog is not aggressive, but if you're gonna poke a dog the environment needs to be a bit different. She was surrounded by strangers- away from her owner scared, confused, and alone. The only person that reassured me of anything and was empathetic was the lady at the front desk. Even she was aware that dogs don't take kindly to being pricked when they're already in a vulnerable state. The vet was cool and told me my dog only had one puppy. He did ask me if she ate the rest (no she was supervised thru labor) which surprised me but he was just doing his job. And he did inform me that one of her dewclaws had gotten ripped off. (That could have been part of her aggression too idk how that happened but can't blame them because her nails have grown too long.) This place was close to me and although they are an emergency care don't expect service to be super fast - at least not over the weekend.

WOULD NEVER GO HERE AGAIN!!!! I wish I would have read the reviews before taking me puppy here seem like they are all about money no compassion at ALL, took my puppy to my local vet they informed me he had a viral infection and I needed to take him to a 24hr hospital so I did. When my puppy went into the building he was moving around and walking. When we was ready to leave this place they told me he was sleeping and he probably stay sleep, 40 minutes into me driving home I notice my puppy was not breathing I called to ask what medication was given just to be sure they didn't give him something wrong and just for them to help me understand what happened in that little time. I received a very nasty reply "well your dog had an infection didn't they tell you that" PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE!!!! Read reviews before you make your decision.

The reviewers on this site grousing about price probably shouldn't have pets. I am not sure what you expect at a late-night ER but plan on spending at least a few hundred bucks and being charged up front for it... 'cuz a lot of the folks that come through the doors here are deadbeats who authorize all sorts of things and then say they have no money. Then the deadbeat gets annoyed when they are asked to get outta there. Nobody is going to care for YOUR pet for free anywhere any more than anyone will fix your car/washer/roof for free, so quitcher bellyachin. Pets are a responsibility; if you aren't up to the task, change or quit. TAKE RESPONSIBLITY FOR PETS YOU OBVIOUSLY CAN NOT AFFORD TO HAVE ONE

I've come here twice now. The first time I came here they told me my pet was going to die and gave me the ultimatum of spending more money or euthanasia. My father shot that down and had us take my pet home. Because of that, they told me my pet was going to die and had me sign a form confirming I knew that before they let me take my pet home. Thank God I didn't listen to them and took my pet to his regular vet where all they did was prescribed some medication and he was fine. The condition this place told me he had was not true. I came here again out of desperation but left once more because of my prior experience I feel like this place is all about money. Don't come here. This place should get shut down or have their doctors replaced with actual human beings who have empathy.

I called on Monday night. I explained my Puppy wasn't breathing properly. When we arrived they sent a Tech out to evaluate her. The Tech said she was stable and we had 9 animals in front of us. She stated because she was stable we had to wait. I have been here before and I know the wait is long. So I decided to take her home and take her to the vet in the morning. When we arrived at the vet they said she had pneumonia and there was nothing they could do. She died! Don't TAKE YOUR PET HERE FOR A EMERGENCY..... There is lack of compassion. When I called instantly the Receptionist was telling me it's $600 if they see her right away.. and $$$$ if they have to incubate. When you have a dog in distress a family desperate. Why are you talking money instantly. I wouldn't take my birds here. I hate this place.... So much for her being stable. Their definition of stable caused my baby her life .

If I could rate a 0 star I would. This place is a joke! I called to ask about getting my dog seen for a bite. They said 135 for the visit. Drove to the office. They get my dog and say 50.00 more to shave and prep the area. Cool. About 40 minutes later they come out saying they need a deposit between $800-1200! Of course shocked by the change I get frustrated and suddenly the price is $400-600. I ask for my dog back because they could not give me any I formation and they return her Completely exposed wounds and NO shaving or anything done. I ask if they could wrap her up since she was fully bandaged when I brought her in. NO! A woman in the office was having a similar experience. Already paid the 800 deposit and they need $600 more before they could give the dog back but no explanation. Save yourself the time. This place is a rip off.

Very compassionate and knowledgeable. The doctor greased the skids to get my Joey admitted to the Anne Arundel Veterinarian emergency clinic in Annapolis. Joey needed a CT scan and they do not have that particular diagnostic machine.

Dr. McGuire, Omar and Misty.......what an awesome professional team. While I was filling out the intake forms I was a little apprehensive because the gentleman in the next vehicle seemed extremely unhappy with the service provided to his fur baby. Then after sitting for another 20 minutes or so and watching 2 other fur babies discharged and those customers seeming happy I thought ok. About 10 minutes later Omar came out to access Buddy, I already felt like a bad fur parent for being there, but Omar was decent in questioning. Once Buddy went inside it took Dr. McGuire about 15 minutes to call and she was very compassionate and understanding. Total bill was $304 and I can't complain. Stepping inside the building I was actually surprised at the cleanliness and checking out with Misty was a pleasure as well. Sorry that others didn't have a more polite interaction or service. NOT SURE IF THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS WERE FLUKES OR I JUST LUCKED UP AND HAPPEN TO GO ON A GOOD WEEKEND...... But Waldorf Emergency Care took care of my fur baby and btw we drive from LexingtonPark... THANK YOU!

Doctors are super nice and staff is pretty good as well, they take their time explaining what issues your dog has and answer your questions. However they make you sit and wait in your car with your dog..... dog needs to use bathroom, try taking your dog for a walk at the facility and one of the nurses through a hissy fit cause she thought my dog had parvovirus which is super contagious..., come to find out my puppy didn’t but the way she went about it was soooooooo Rude and it was my first time there.... like huh?yall don’t know how to talk to ppl now? Ever since COVID ppl lost what customer service mean. They hire anyone off the street these days. But other than that doctors are super experienced.

I typically hate to write reviews especially negative reviews and rarely do however, i feel so strongly in letting others know to NOT take your pet here... This was the WORST experiences I've ever had. This will be lengthy- I called ahead to see how long the wait would be and was told 1 1/2 hours before they could take my dog inside. I was told to do registration online which was easy enough. Once checked in online i waited 4 hours in the parking lot waiting to be called inside. The vet called to let me know the plan of action and told me someone at the desk would call and go over the payment amount... 40 minutes later i received that call. The breakdown included things that were not needed now and i could have done at my normal vet.( to avoid paying triple here). After the initial breakdown didn't add up by $280. i questioned the difference and was told ( I'm using a calculator and my calculations are correct.. However they weren't) SO ALWAYS double check the total. I did have questions as to what one procedure was and when i asked "what does this procedure detail" was told "its something the vet does" as if i assumed that the receptionist would be the one performing the task. No actual explanation of what that procedure was for or what the procedure was. My BIGGEST complaint is that they sedated my dog for treatment-- So i was expecting her to be a little groggy and out of it from the medications, However once she was returned to me she couldn't even hold her body up. she was dragging her legs and running into walls and tables. She had absolutely no idea where she was or what was happening. So i only assume that she was taken directly off of the anestesia and given to me without any observations after. Once in my car she completely went insane trying to get out, hitting her head on the window and trying to climb on the dash. ( she's never acted like this) . I would contribute those actions on having just coming off of of the medication and directly handed back to me.. She's a bulldog and their breed has respiratory issues. OBSERVATION IS NEEDED! Once home i tried to make her as comfortable as possible but she was panting and struggling to breath and relax. I've had animals go under sedation many times-- THIS WAS NOT NORMAL! I wont speak for all but the greater majority of staff were so unprofessional and so uneducated in the way to treat pet owners. I completely understand that this is an EMERGENCY VET and that like an emergency room there can be long wait times, but 8 1/2 hours of waiting is a far stretch from the original time frame of 1 1/2 hours that was quoted to me. I got to the hospital at 7:30pm and left at 4am PLEASE LISTEN TO ALL THE OTHERS BEFORE ME AND DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE! I can honestly say id rather drive 5 hours if i needed to just to avoid going here again. If I could leave a negative star review I honestly would. The disappointment is unreal.

On Sunday night, at about 3 AM, I brought my 4 year old dog Blue in because she was throwing up consistently and lost her ability to walk. After waiting for a couple hours in my truck due to COVID protocols, I received a phone call from Dr. Baynes that they were unable to find any major abnormalities in Blue’s blood work or X-Rays. The advice that was given to me: give my dog chicken and rice, give anti-nausea medicine, let her rest, and limit activity. As well as take her to another vet if things got worse. When things got worse not even 6 hours later, I rushed my dog to another vet, who repeated X-rays and blood work and immediately found a large gas bubble that was caused by an obstruction. Blue underwent emergency life-saving surgery, and an acorn was removed from her body that was causing the blockage. If your response is, “well we weren’t able to find anything at the time you brought her in, and we did refer you to another vet”, you may as well put a For Sale sign with the vet referral on your front door. I cannot imagine the amount of animals that have passed from Waldorf Emergency Care’s misdiagnosis’. For this company to downplay my dog’s condition, results, and X-Rays was horrendous. I am not even going to attempt to contact them about refunding 750$, as they will argue it and show me all the papers I signed. The only positives that came from visiting Waldorf Emergency Care were the front desk attendant telling me to take her to All Kinds Vet Hospital, and the availability at 3 AM on a Sunday night. I’m not sure how much availability helps if your doctor’s advice is to just eat chicken and rice and rest. I would really not recommend taking your pet to Waldorf Emergency Care whatsoever, even if it is the only thing open. Wait a few hours, save 750$, and get your pet evaluated by a doctor who will diagnose properly and fix the issue at hand.

Our cat was barely breathing and wasnt treated as an emergency. There was nobody else being seen and it still took forever to be seen. After xrays and what not, we were told it was going to cost an additional $2500 to keep treating our cat for 2 hours till the proper personnel showed up. We took our cat to our normal vet once they opened and was charged $40. Hopefully i wont have to ever be back

Do not take your pets here. Whatever they injected our dog with immediately made him way more sick resulting in us having to put him down just 2 days later because he was no longer eating and could no longer walk. Thinking of his suffering still breaks my heart. It hurts to think that I couldn’t go inside with him to monitor what they did to him due to their Covid protocol. I strongly believe he’d still be with us had we taken him somewhere else.

I had to take my dog to the emergency vet last Saturday. Two days later she stopped eating thought it was maybe the pain meds they had put her on. They diagnosed her with a partially torn ACL. When I tried to give her chicken and rice and she still wouldn't eat I started examining her and found what you see in these pictures in her mouth which you can tell by the pictures did not come up overnight. Now had they done the full exam like they said they did and cleared her said everything in her mouth was normal, then they would have seen this and alerted me that she had a major tooth infection and growths in the top of her mouth. However they did not and said her mouth was normal which tells me the $700 that I had to spend there , they did not do their job. I do not recommend this place.

I rarely ever write any reviews related to my pet, but felt compelled to write this one. My opinion is based solely on the experiences I've had. Emergent healthcare isn't cheap and cheap emergent healthcare isn't quality. Two separate emergent issues early last year and again last week-- infected mass and then inevitable kidney issues with my 14 year old Shihpoo. Each time, the Veterinarians provided gold standard life sustaining treatment for my pet and timely transparent communication. The technicians and ancillary staff demonstrated a professional tenor and tone. Fact is, the prices are no different at WFE than they are in the 2 neighboring states. These are physicians that perform assessments, procedures and surgeries on nonverbal patients. This takes time and just like pediatricians and surgeons--they have to be compensated fairly. Very satisfied with the service and my pets outcome...Many Thanks!! She got old on me????, I'm financially responsible for her and also accountable for not having pet insurance.

We definitely felt it was about the money. I was referred here as the other clinic could not get our dog in for 2 weeks. I told them I felt our boxer was dying as she stopped eating over a week ago. She was walking but barely. She was drinking water but struggling to get to the bowl. She was vomitting and bleeding. They said it would be $200 to examiner her and at least $600 to run test. I asked that she be put to sleep as I did not want her to suffer and was told that the doctor did not want to do that without running test. My boxer died 9 days later at home in front of my daughter who is now so traumatized by this experience. When I called Tri County they told me that I could have surrendered my dog to the emergency hospital and they would be responsible for treating her or taking her to Tri County. I was not given this option. It was all about getting money out of us. I would not recommend this place for anyone. Although I was referred to them by another place in Waldorf...I did find it strange that they gave me Annapolis and then Bowie and then this place. I should have known there was a reason to refer me to other places before this one which was just minutes from my home.
