I brought my 10-month-old Pitty/Shepard puppy there for a nail clipping. The employees were very sweet, the place was very clean, and they had a very nice bird in the waiting room! Unfortunately, my puppy decided he wasn't having his nails done today and threw a tantrum in the room, knocking over their table and urinating all over the poor employees. Much to my surprise, they were sympathetic and explained that they couldn't clip his nails. I offered to pay but they said since they had done nothing that I needn't pay anything. They were extremely understanding and extremely apologetic despite the fact that it was my puppy who was the antagonist in all of this! If you have a well-behaved dog, I would very much recommend this place!

I cannot express how much I appreciate Bear Brook Kennel and their approach to caring for my cat. After my sweet little escape artist feline went missing for two weeks from the friend's house where she was staying while I was traveling I decided to long term board her with Bear Brook until I returned. Throughout her time with them (approx. 2 months) the staff went above and beyond with communicating with me -especially Sarah. They sent me email updates with photos and were open to and did not make me feel like a helicopter pet mom for calling weekly to check in on her. Moreover, they allowed her to have various enrichment opportunities (ex. roaming the cattery and snuggling and playing with staff) all for a very reasonable price. In all, I highly recommend their services to others looking to board their feline companion -especially long term.

I took my 2 dogs to Bear Brook Kennel this past weekend. 3 days. My oldest had been here for daycare when she was younger so I was feeling ok about leaving them here for a weekend. Dropped them off early afternoon, they were happy to go in the building, all good. Everything had been labeled clearly multiple times so there would be no confusion. I even verbally gave them instructions, which they wrote down, for one supplement I left with them for my oldest. 3 hours later after I had left them, I received a call asking which dog the hip and joint supplement was for. Remember, the older dogs name (first and last) was on the cover AND the side of this container so there would be no doubt as to which dog it was for. But I calmly told them again which one. ('Dog name', the 11 year old lab, not the 1 year old pit). Fast forward to pick up day... they are only open for 2 hours on Sunday, so I had to wait until late afternoon to pick them up. There was someone in front of us in the waiting room and one of the girls standing to the side asked who we were there for. She brought out our pit puppy and she (puppy) was just pulling the girl as hard as she could to the door to get out... We put her collar and leash on and the girl went back to get our lab dog who was also trying to get outside. She also had their blanket in her hand. As soon as she walked in the room, all we could smell was piss. I thought it was the dogs, but as soon as she handed the blanket to my fiance we quickly learned it was mostly the blanket. It was COVERED in piss. The room smelled disgusting. He gave it back to her and she offered to wash it. No thanks, didn't want to spend more time there waiting for them to wash a piss soaked blanket. We had them throw it away. My fiance's hands were wet from the blanket so they let him wash them. They offered to wash our dogs, but with the way my dogs were acting, I didn't want them near them. My fiance took the dogs outside while I paid the bill. Both dogs immediately peed and pooped as soon as they got out. I heard the final charges and thought they were extremely high. The girl asked if I wanted a breakdown of the charges.. Yes please. Ok everything was fine except a charge for a rabies shot that neither dog needed and someone forgot to take off the bill. Had I not asked, I would have been overcharged for the stay. When we arrived home, I noticed my older one had scratches on her nose. They first said they didn't know, but then changed their story to it being the chain link fence probably. My older one wasn't to have play time with other dogs because she has been attacked and I chose for her to just have human play time. The scratches didn't line up with a chain link fence. I am not a difficult person, I am not hard to please. I DO expect my dogs to be taken care of when I am paying you to do so and you have a business that is actually a boarding facility. I am very unhappy with how everything went about this weekend with the care of my dogs. I understand boarding can be stressful for dogs. It is not new for mine. We have boarded them for a week before (in a different state) and neither of them were bolting for the door when we picked them up. They greeted us and were not trying to get out. I relayed my concerns to the facility (day of pickup staff, and manager) The owner was unavailable. The staff said for the day they are only open for 2 hours, someone is in at 7am to let dogs out and clean kennels inside and out. Then play time happens, staff leaves around noon and comes back at 3. Gates are left open for dogs to go inside and out while nobody is there. Then someone is there from 3 to 7pm. They only have grass time for 20 mins a day if we pay extra for that. Otherwise they only have cement to go to the bathroom on outside. The manager claimed that our dogs were in excellent hands and cared for very well. My dogs behavior and the pee soaked blanket tell a different story. We will NEVER be going back there again.

I wish I could give this place a zero. They definitely do not treat their animals as if they were their own. Very understaffed and extremely rude when confronted about a serious problem that occurred while dogs were in their care. I highly recommend that if you care about the well being of your pets, that you do not step foot in this facility.

They didn't do anything we asked for my two dogs. Simple instructions they wrote everything down , very disappointed in the care of our dogs. They didn't seem concerned at all. I will never go back! 7/ 01 /19 to 7/10/19 dogs were there .

Our English setter has stayed there on numerous occasions. She always seems happy to be dropped off, and is always in a great space when we pick her up. The folks we interact with always seem happy to see her and are very accommodating.

Five star. Great kennel with country feel. We left two of our pups there for about two weeks. The had play time with walks throughout the days. The fed science diet which happened to be our pups favorites as well. Our golden doodle took advantage of Amy's grooming skills and came to us looking just fabulous. Their tails were wagging and smiling away so I would say approved by Yogi & Lily.

Very disappointed to say the least. We had to board our 9 year old healthy male German Shepherd this past summer. I was very nervous and uneasy about leaving him and I was even more uneasy while dropping him off because I was basically blown off and told it was annoying if pet owners called too much to check on their pets. Because I had no other choice, I left him. We were gone for 4 days and when I picked my pup at about 445 I was met by 2 almost lifeless individuals who only said one word to me which was “fine” after I asked how my pup did while we were away. When they brought him out I immediately knew something was wrong with him and by the time we got into the car he was vomiting foam. I live about 5 or 6 miles from Bear Brook and my dog was obviously distressed and by the time we arrived home was continuesly vomiting. We immediately took him to the emergency vet where they took him straight in for X-rays and by 8 o’clock my best friend was gone. My pup had Gastric Torsion and his stomach and intestines were too damaged for him to be saved. I was devastated beyond belief. I know that no one caused my dogs issue but I can’t believe that a kennel owned by a veterinarian that lives and works on the property would not make his staff aware of what Bloat looks like in a dog. I did speak to the kennel manager who expressed how sorry she was and the next day received a call from Dr. Robert Feher who offered NO condolences he only spent 20 minuets “talking down” to me about how he was so much more superior at raising German Shepherds. When he was done I reminded him at that point that I to knew shepherds because the shepherd they basically let die was our third and 2 of those 3 were working dogs and if he would have taken the time to look my name up he would have known that because I was an employee of his for roughly five years back in the 90’s.

We scheduled an appointment to have our cat groomed. She's a sweet, but anxious girl, so we try to keep trips to a minimum. When we arrived to drop her off for her appointment, they informed us that their groomers don't usually work on Thursday, and there was no way for them to keep the appointment. No apology, no offer to figure it out. We will never bring our pets here again.

This is the first kennel I've boarded my dog where she's come home happy and obviously well cared for. When we arrive at Bear Brook, she's enthusiastic and not at all shy with any of the staff. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and it's obvious they enjoy being there.

Fantastic for our high-anxiety dog. This kennel does not force socialization, which was one of our chief concerns, as our dog just plain does not play well with others. They always make sure that he is kept relatively isolated to keep his stress level lower, and have had no problem working with him to get him to eat when we're gone (he'll refuse even with a dogsitter at home--no easy task!). We've booked him in both the Presidential and regular kennels, longer and short stays, very pleased each time.

Most facility that I have walked into have a smell of ammonia to it and this would make my dog turn tail to go out the door dragging me behind her. >When I come threw the door at Bear Brook, the air smell great, the facility looks clean, and the person behind the deck has a smile on her face. > I have used this facility many time boarding my dog. My dog is always happy to see the girl that come out to take her out back to the kennel.( My dog is not an easy dog to get to know.) When you call to make a reservation be sure you call way in advance or your not going to get the week available to you or even the presidential suite for you dog. I love the Presidential suite for my dog. I love the spy cam in the presidential suite to check up on your dog. I wish they have more of the presidential. Or even spy cam in the regular kennel.

For more than twenty years we have trusted Bear Brook with our dogs. The care and attention is excellent, and every one of our pets loved going there, either for a stay or just for a bath. I cannot imagine a better place to leave your dog, or a more friendly group of people to do business with. They are the best. Bruce Pratt

I went through the basic and advanced obedience classes, and am now enjoying the agility classes with my mutt. The training staff (Lloyd and Terry) and are amazing with all the crazy dogs that get brought in. My first was a retired racing greyhound (talk about psychosis!) whom I learned to communicate with so much better after class with Lloyd. Now, I have a highly energetic mutt who can sit still for more than 30s, and Terry is helping with obedience while we have fun playing on the Agility course.
