Gause Boulevard Veterinary Hospital Slidell, Louisiana

On December 3 - 7, 2021, I boarded my dog at Gause Blvd Veterinary Hospital. A preliminary questionnaire was emailed to me prior to boarding to provide essential information, among which were services I wanted my dog to receive. I requested playtime be given twice daily for a specified fee. I picked my dog up on December 7. After reviewing my bill, it revealed that my dog did not get even one playtime break. I called to question this and was told that there were too many dogs there to give mine a playtime. This means that other than 3 potty breaks per day, she was locked in her cage the entire time she was there. This was upsetting, but even more upsetting was that my dog came back to me traumatized. It has been 2 days and she is slowly showing signs of her normal personality. I have boarded my dog at this facility before with no problems. This is the first time that she was shown a negative reaction. Since my dog cannot communicate with me, I am left to wonder what happened for her to be so traumatized. I feel that I have no choice but to seek another facility to provide care for my dog, which includes her health care needs, as well.

We have taken our pets there for years. We trust them. They always do what’s best for them.

Absolutely terrible place to bring your animal I highly do not recommend. I had been bringing my dog there for five years, and they can’t even get the gender correct!? Poor communication throughout the office and employees gossip. Better service at circus.

I am very pleased with the service at this office. Very professional, very clean and very caring.

My dog was bleeding and after 30 minutes of pressure and it not stopped I called Gause Blvd vet hospital in Slidell. They saw him immediately and I’m a new first time client. My dog had advanced cancer and the euthanasia procedure was compassionate caring loyal dedicated and profoundly heartwarming for me even thou I was crying my eyes out they let me stay with my Reggie the whole time. I’ll never forget the genuine kindness you gave me this terrible day of losing our Reggie. But he’s out of pain and in a better place. God bless y’all ????????

The doctors and staff were instrumental in turning our rescue dog Ozzy from a very aggressive dog to one that is now a joy to have around the house. In addition they are very caring that you receive a follow-up call after each visit to get an update as to how their meds and treatment are working. It has been a blessing for us.

They always take care of my two babies. We’ve been brining our rescue here since we’ve taken her in and now bring our other new dachshund. The receptionist and vets are very nice. Love doctor michelle.

felt like the doc was just trying to take advantage of my love for my dog and sell me everything he possibly could. came outside 3 different times to suggest something else i should pay for, and at the end of the day nothing he gave me worked. had to visit another vet office in slidell to take care of the issues. felt like i was robbed of over $500 for no reason at all. not a happy customer and in the future won't bring my pets there.

Worked really well with my cat who hates the vet but the lady at the front desk refused to wear a mask and yelled when asked too.

The staff is so wonderful and nice. You cn tell they really like their jobs and that they genuinely care for your pet as well. I trust them with both of my fur babies completely.

It was easy to schedule an appointment. Then were very kind and professional.

Very good place. How much is it to spay though? My cat has had 3 litters. Currently she is pregnant again

I have 4 cats that go to Gause Blvd. Vet Hospital who see both Dr. McKenzie and Dr. Blust. They provide excellent care for my animals and the staff is very helpful, knowledgeable and professional. I highly recommend them for your fur babies.

My puppy woke up with one eye not opening all the way. It was Sunday and thought we’d end up at the emergency vet with an astronomical bill. I found this clinic’s ad on the internet. I was so happy to see they were open so I called and was lucky to get an appointment. Office was easy to find, extremely clean and the receptionist was very friendly. Our wait time was about 20 minutes to see the vet. He was very attentive to my puppy, did a thorough exam and explained everything, in a way I understood. His assistant was also very friendly and loving to my puppy. The bill was much lower than an ER bill would have been. I have returned for a check up and saw the other vet. She was also very friendly, loving to my puppy and made me feel instantly welcome. I highly recommend this clinic and will definitely go back, should the need arise.

This is probably worst vet slidell. They Literally have know idea what they are doing, because of them my dog got seriously ill & i took her to the ER. They told me to just deal with it. Absolutely would not recommend this Vet to anyone.

My three dogs have been seen by Dr. Blust and he has done an amazing job. The staff is great, very kind and friendly. I would totally recommend this clinic to anyone that wants good care for their pets at a reasonable price.

We are so thankful to have our pups cared for by Gause Veterinary Hospital. I have never had such personal, honest, and wonderful animal care. Everyone in the office... the doctors, office staff, and techs are loving and caring. They go above and beyond! We have had three dogs in their care ... from basic visits to more serious surgeries.. and couldn’t be happier. Roy and I thank you so very much for how much you love our furry friends! I called to get a referral and set an appointment for a heart echo (having to go to mandeville/covington for this) . The Lady on the phone said she understood and set my appointment. I get all the way to Mandeville just to be told there is nothing set. I drive all the way back to Slidell just to be told that they have 'zero clue' what is going on. Very Incompetent.

There wasn't anything to dislike, everyone very professional and caring. I will make them my Veterinarian for life.

This was my babies vet for 7 or more years. I had never had any reason to doubt them. They always worked with me and seemed to take good care of all of them. The wonderful lady vet probably saved our little one as she caught a massive issue during her spaying. However, there is also a serious disconnect, mostly noticed with Blust ( sp? ). One of our babies got real sick. On this particular day which I am about to describe he cried and tried to leave, he has never acted like this before, but this baby knew something I didn't in retrospect. They hit his head on the metal table in the process of putting him up, he proceeded to have a stroke right in front of us which I pointed out and was just shrugged off. We returned once or twice more after this which had my stomach all in knots and he still wasn't having it. To say the least after really thinking about it, looking at him, and reeling over the possibilty of cancer with no options but invasive options, much crying ( me not him ), I realized we needed a change and another opinion. I know slow to move, but come on my head was spinning and I was tired from caring for him which wouldn't change for another 7 months. Side note: He is doing so much better now, his quality of life has drastically improved as has ours, and he is happier as well as back to his old self. If all you need is basic care fine these guys should be fine, just keep an eye on your babies, but if something else is wrong and something doesn't feel like it is fitting, go get another opinion it just might save their life.

This place was very compassionate when I brought my 10 yo chocolate lab in. I knew in my heart it would be a hard time have to put my long time doggy to sleep. This vet hospital was amazing from time walked in till I left even made a paw impression of his paw with name. A week later had a card in the mail signed from all the staff sending there condolences.... amazing place...

We brought our 10 yr. old Cocker "Corona" in on this past Sunday 6/24/18. first, I am so thankful for you making yourself available on this day. We live near Picayune...No Vet services are offered. Pleasant and knowledgeable staff. Dr. Blust and his assistant examined her and determined that she was having issues with her back and in severe pain. she was kept overnight xrays, medication and sedation. When we picked her up Monday evening She was feeling So Much Better. Thank you.
