I couldn’t be happier with the care that my precious “family member” is receiving. As soon as I walk in the door, I’m greeted by friendly, courteous receptionists. The veterinarian I use is professional and very knowledgeable. His bedside manner is great. He greets my dog with a treat to help put him at ease. The concern for each patient is very obvious. The staff treats each pet as if it were their own. I’ve made a very good choice by putting my precious pet in the arms of Alexandria Animal.

Our Bella suddenly became paralyzed over night, Dr Whitlock saw her and did X-rays, he knew something was wrong, he quickly got in contact with LSU vet hospital where they said get her here today, she underwent spinal surgery, we will forever be grateful to him, Bella is only 3 and Alexandria Animal Clinic is the only clinic she has ever been to, they are amazing !!!!

With no appointment and a slight "emergency" (my dogs ate chocolate), the staff at AAC met me at the door to give the care that my wayward doggies needed. As usual, the staff (from receptionists to vet techs and doctors) responded in a calm, professional and reassuring manner. I cannot emphasize enough the peace that goes with having the staff of Alexandria Animal Clinic care for my "boys," care which is always provided with genuine consideration and friendliness towards the pet's people!

I recently took my heartworm-positive German Shepherd in to be seen, upon discovering a tumor that continued growing in size. This was my first time using Alexandria Animal Clinic, however I was at ease given the reputation and good reviews. They confirmed that it was indeed a cancerous tumor, and we rescheduled a date to perform surgery. The vet I spoke to was incredibly thorough, personable and empathizing with my situation. She informed me of the increased risk and dangers of the surgery, due to my dog having heartworms. Upon speaking with her further, we decided it was not something that could wait, as the tumor continued growing in size and was becoming infected. We made arrangements and I dropped her off for the operation later that week. After the surgery, Ms. Matherne called and said my dog handled the surgery well, and was recovering now. She also informed me that given the location of the mass, it is very likely it will come back eventually anyways. However, I was aware of this risk beforehand. My dog appeared to be recovering well for a few days after. The vet agreed. There were times of suppressed appetite or lethargy, which I expected and presumed to be from the operation and stress. However on the 15th, six days after surgery, her health did a complete 180. While waiting for the opinion from the oncologist and continuing post-op care, my shepherd unexpectedly collapsed. I picked her up and rushed her to be seen. They x-rayed her vitals and attributed the collapse to a freak accident from being in pain, claiming she should be fine. She was prescribed prednisone, gabapentin, and we were sent on our way. However, following this I could tell something wasn't right. Her energy and appetite never returned. Less than 16 hours later, she was gone. I called Ms Suzie of the front desk and informed her that my dog had succumbed to her health issues. Let me make it clear that I am in no way blaming anyone for the loss of my pet. I was aware of the risk involved in the procedure, and was thoroughly satisfied with the work of everyone in the office, going to the lengths they did to hear every concern and accommodate every issue. However, it has been a week since my pet's passing, and I never once received a call from anyone else regarding this matter. Considering my pet's health took a sudden, drastic and unexpected turn for the worst, I at the very least expected to be contacted by one of the last staffers who operated on her and were in charge of her care. Not the vet nor the surgeon called about her passing, or ever inquired about the details of her health leading up to it. Almost as if we were forgotten about, as soon as I no longer had a pet that needed to be treated. This is particularly disheartening because up until this point, I was satisfied with the office and staff. I'm not sure if this was done to possibly avoid confronting any mistakes that may have been made, or my pet simply was not as cared for as I otherwise believed. But it seemed as soon as the payments stopped, so did the compassion.

They’ve done a great job with my senior dog and my puppy! They take focused time with each appointment and offer multiple options, and send email reminders about appointments and medication refills. We had to put our old dog down and they were very compassionate and kind.
