On 11-30-2021 our dog had to have cataracts removed from both eyes and laser in his right eye. Dr Ben Bergstrom did the surgery on our dog's eyes and he was up front about everything that had to be done. Everyone at the Rivergate and at the office on sidco dr where so nice. I'm very pleased with everything and very pleased with all of the staff and would highly recommend this place to any one who pet's need eye surgery

Professional, practical, prompt, pleasant...and now we enter the recovery phase. I'll revisit this review upon re-check...Re-check was more of the same great experience! Our family thanks Dr. Meredith Voyles and the entire team at VOS-Nashville!

I am retracting my prior 5 star rating. My dog had highly successful cataract surgery in 6/2019. She developed complications a week later, and had successful emergency surgery (kudos). She had no comorbid medical conditions at the time. She was unable to tolerate oral medications to control IOP. She developed metabolic acidosis. She was switched to a different eye regimen. She played like a pup. It was wonderful. Then, in September of 2019, the vet removed one of the IOP drops. My dog went blind spontaneously one Saturday shortly after the changes. The vet responded with an emergency protocol. The vision was never fully recovered. My dog adjusted. She saw the vet in January of 2020 just prior to Covid 19. This clinic CLOSED to care until September 2020 - claiming to be non-essential?! In the meantime, my dog’s eye pressures spiked. By the time this expensive clinic saw my dog again (9 months later), I was told her eye pressure was dangerous. The doctor prescribed an extensive eye drop protocol which was faithfully followed to the minute four times daily for two weeks. Upon return for a follow up appointment, he recommended an enucleation of the right eye due to high IOP , loss of vision, and potential pain. This meant removal of her right eye with *three* price points including a prosthetic, removal alone, or an injection with a significant likelihood of surgery to follow. They pushed the $1600 surgery with a histology report to prevent future damage to the left eye which seemed fine? She was 13 years at time, and this surgery is quite brutal and bloody. The vet suggested she wear a pirate costume for Halloween, and pushed me to do the surgery in four days. Thankfully, our local vet saw her after the VOS visit. While the vet had not chosen to become an ophthalmologist, she was formally trained in this area. She advised against such a bloody surgery. My dog is not showing signs of pain of which I was assured she was feeling at VOS. This would have risked her life as it is bloody, dangerous surgery, and requires anesthesia. But, COVID precautions made vets ESSENTIAL in TN AND KY. I find VOS COVID policy appalling. People care for their pets and choose to afford this luxury vet service. I wish I had chosen the provider in Louisville or other locations over this clinic. In the end, it has been very sad for my beloved dog. It has been a grief. And, I think this was very irresponsible medical care given that vets were essential during Covid just as those of us in mental health were... So, I cannot recommend this clinic.. OUR LOCAL VETS considered themselves ESSENTIAL and took every precaution for safety. They followed the KY Governor’s stringent mandates. All of our local vets continued to see their patients on a regular basis. VOS is without excuse. This makes me quite sad to write. I have felt so heartsick over my sweet dog. I cannot recommend VOS in good conscience. VOS did respond on Google. Also, I should be clear that I was *told* I would be called when my dog would be seen. I was phoned in late September. My dog has seen an exceptional opthamalogist... VOS kept her on Pred. Acetate which was *immediately* removed due to contraindications. Dorzolamide/Timolol was added. It was *never* used by VOS. The new extremely professional vet made no negative or disparaging comments about my dog's care. Yet, s/he seemed a bit surprised by VOS' choices. My dog's pressures are normal now. I'm so thankful we did not remove the eye! She is blind which is difficult knowing there could have possibly been a different outcome. Granted, things happen. But, when the most common adverse event is IOP, and the vet keeps that med and drops a med to control pressure, them it is very troubling. I was told she had virtually no inflammation. If she did? There are other options as we've learned from her new provider. Still broken hearted over this fur family experience. See Pred side effects in the picture.

Went to VOS today with our 16 year old cat who has a mass in his eye. We had a wonderful experience, Dr. West was very thorough & he took time to explain everything to us. The Tech (Shannon) was awesome! They were both extremely patient with Sam who can be hard to handle if nervous. Sam was very comfortable with them. The receptionists were also very friendly & helpful. I would highly recommend VOS.

Office is beautiful. Doctor was professional and gentle. My one complaint: staff who have not been vaccinated are not required to wear masks.

They really care about your pet and their eye health! Inside is decorated nicely, warm and cozy like a home doesn't seem like a vet office.

I just can’t say enough good things about this place. The doctor and staff are truly some of the most caring people I’ve ever encountered. I’ve taken my dog there for over a year and every time it’s the same experience - wonderful. If I have an urgent need they always find time to see my dog. I highly recommend the doctor and staff.

Totally professional polite kind and caring. My beautiful girl had to get her eye taken out due to glaucoma (apparently there are only 33 cases and she's one of them) but the staff and the doc were super nice thank you so much.

Great place to take your dog for eye problems. My dog's regular vet couldn't get his eye to heal. I was referred here and they cleared up his issues. Unfortunately, my dog keeps getting eye infections, but this office always works him into their schedules.

Cannot be more thankful for the urgency, communication, efficiency, and professionalism they showed and for their help in doing everything they could to try to help my dog Homie and save him from euthanasia. I wish I would have known about them/been referred sooner.
