We had a great experience with SPA. Their communication was great and the process was pretty speedy. They really care for the animals. Would absolutely recommend.

The staff were so sweet and definitely show how much they love the dogs in their care. I felt like they listened to what we wanted and helped pair us with the perfect pup. I wish more shelters took the time to find the right home for their animals.

So insanely frustrated. I visited safe place for animals in September 2021. I met the dog of my dreams, applied on the spot, and was told to check back in in a week or two. After a week I emailed and didn't receive a response. I then called and was told there were several applications and they hadn't been gone through yet. Not a problem. 3 weeks after applying I called again and was told once again they hadn't even looked at the applications. After 5 weeks I emailed, got not reply, and then when I called yet again I was told the owner was out so I'd have to call the next Monday. I did all I could to adopt the sweet dog that I wanted so bad. I've since adopted a new animal who I adore, I'm just frustrated that I held off for so long in the hopes of adopting from SPFA.

I am echoing what others have commented. The staff that you meet is wonderful. They take their time to meet with you and match you with a dog. Unfortunately post filling out the application the communication has been poor. Instead of simply complaining about my experience. I wanted to offer some recommendations to improve client service. Empower the person that answers the call with the ability to answer questions. To do this make your applications electronic, this will reduce manual work for your staff and be able to give transparency to all staff members- I have used Google forms to do this is my professional life With Google forms or other open source tools people can check on the status themselves. This will reduce the phone calls but if someone calls the person that answers can look it up. If someone is denied let them know. I recommend email for this to try to mitigate negative phone conversations. I hope these recommendations are useful. My thought is if they can approve their processes more animals would get adopted quicker.

I would highly recommend their groomer. She is amazing!! Took my 18 year old cat and I was able to stay with her the entire time. Loved this place!!

The vet was nice. Took our dog here for shots and general check up. Cheaper than full service vet but limited in what they can do.

If there was a rating of less than 1 that would have been it. Awhile ago a neighbors dog that we shared went missing. I called for 2 weeks and was repeatedly told he was not there. Something finally told me to take a picture by. I left the picture and was told he was not there. Within 10 minutes I received a call from Ms Townsend who said he was there. She proceeded to question me about the care of the dog and stated that since it had been 2 weeks they could keep the dog. Needless to say that did not go over well since I had been calling for 2 weeks and had been put through emotional hell looking for him. My neighbors finally got him back but Ms Townsend and her staff/volunteers need to work on people skills and honesty. It also breaks my heart of reading other reviews where people were lead on about adopting a dog only to have their hearts broken. Now the neighbors Dog is gone again but there is a family who has been wanting him and can keep him within a specified area with lots of love. Once again he is at SPA but we’re told he was not there. The family who wants him has been waiting hours for Ms Townsend to return her call as promised.

My fiancé and I decided it was time to expand our family and get a dog. We looked around at a couple of places and ended up finding one we both loved at Safe Place for Animals. The man that helped us (I think his name was Mitch) was very polite and informative and showed he truly cared about every animal there. We filled out an application and turned it in the same day. The woman in the office took the application and told us she would’t get around to them until a few days later because it was a holiday weekend. We told her that was totally fine and that we looked forward to hearing back. A week went by so we called for a status update. The woman who answered the phone was very rude and told us if we hadn’t heard anything that meant they haven’t looked at our application. That wasn’t a problem. A week after that we called again and we got pretty much the same answer. We never did hear back from them. They handle business very poorly and the office lady isn’t very friendly. We moved on and found the perfect pup for our family. He’s very happy, healthy, and SPOILED. I’d like to think we were meant to be with our sweet boy we have now, but I also think SPA needs to handle things a bit more professionally.

Don’t waste your time with this place! They lead you on and then dump on you! Not able to adopt a dog from this place with no reason! If you are looking for a dog then avoid this place! I am extremely disappointed and so are my grandchildren! I feel like they are running a scam!

I love Safe Place For Animals!! They are caring, loving and Amazing People that Truly Love Animals. I donate to Safe Place to help all these precious doggies & kitties. I saw an adoption for a 10 year old doggie that had lost her loved one and I just prayed I could adopt her. Hopefully on Monday I will know for sure and bring her home!! She will be the Queen of the Castle!! THANK YOU DIANA AND SAFE PLACE FOR ALL YOU DO!!

Place is a joke and a fraud. Took about 4 weeks for our dog application to get accepted(had to call multiple times just to get it looked at). Went to pick up our dog, paid, then they told us he’s sick and has bad kennel cough(owner never mentioned this to us). We said we’d wait a week to get him so he’s better, called 4 days later the owner said the dog was much sicker and we couldn’t adopt. Next day the dog was reposted for adoption. That’s called FRAUD.

I called about a specific dog I posted as available online. She said "yes, this one is still available for adoption ". I drove out. Then was told I needed to wait for the dog to be done with her outdoor play time. I was totally fine with that . Waited 25 minutes. Then another 15 for them to bri g her out and assign us to a closed area. Played with her. Fell in love immediately. Then told I might could get her in a week or so. They want to do more work with her and call all references. ( they have a form to fill out) . Then told "oh she has 7 others in front of you wanting her!!! Huh????? I'm thinking you all couldn't tell me this on the phone????? As soon as I got here????? Before I waited?????? Definitely not ok to lead people on. ????

I love this shelter. We've adopted two absolutely wonderful dogs from here. They do ask you some questions first to ensure the pets they bring out match your lifestyle, but ultimately that's a good thing. It warms my heart that there are people and places like this taking care of those who fell through the cracks.

My husband and I applied for two dogs in Feb 2021. We were sad to never receive word back even though we called 4x to follow up and spoke with various assistants each time who promised we would hear back from management. I hate to write negative reviews but I felt compelled to write this one. Their response times are simply unprofessional. We eventually had to decide to move on.

I tried to adopt a dog from here and it was the absolute worst experience. They don’t let you look at the dogs and they had us stand outside before they moved us to wait in the break room and finally moved us to a waiting room to meet the dog. The dog we wanted was extremely dirty and they said they keep him in a crate for 12+ hours everyday away from the other dogs. They said we would hear back in a couple of days, after a week or so I called everyday for almost a week with still no answers. We were so excited to rescue a dog but this was the worst experience. If we weren’t going to be approved, they easily could’ve said that when I called. Instead when we were waiting all day to receive a call from them, we saw on Facebook he was adopted.
