One single night at this facility ended up costing almost $200. My dog boarded for less than 16 hours and was given 4 “vaccines,” which included a $30 shot of benadryl. Far too many hidden fees, I was quoted $50 on the phone and paid literally 4x that. The facility itself is subpar, especially for the insane cost to board. I was also quoted $45 for them to give him a bath. The staff is nice, and the prices aren’t their fault, so whoever is in charge of pricing needs a reality check and better competitive pricing.

I can't recommend Sheabel Veterinary Hospital enough. I moved back to Lexington last year and needed a new vet for my Labradoodle. Any time that I have called (UTI, Kennel Cough, ear infection, check a bump...), they have been able to get me in the same day and have provided my dog with great care! We love Dr. Estes, and I think you will too.

They treat our baby well. He's always groomed perfectly and the people are nice and easy to deal with. Great place for grooming and boarding.

Dr. Michelle Jude and the rest of the vets and staff at Sheabel have been amazing. We have been grateful and happy customers for years. Dr. Jude took amazing care of our cat Tiger during his cancer treatment for lymphoma, even making home visits to keep him comfortable. She has looked after both our fur boys as if they were her own. She also offers surgeries to stray animals that have been injured and rescued. She is an angel! I’m sure there are other great vets in town but we will never go anywhere else in Lexington! ❤️

Sheabel has delivered excellent veterinary care for our dachshunds for four decades. Nothing is fancy, but everyone is loving and responsive. Why risk less?

My dog Miyu had to get her right eye taken out and the doctors there are so nice and welcoming. They explain everything out to you so you understand what is going on and the atmosphere is a help the animal at all means possible and that is what I love.

My dogs Dennis and Darcy love Dr. Jude and the rest of the staff at Sheabel. They've taken care of all my animals, and I couldn't be happier with the care and affection that's shown to them. Last minute appointments have never been a problem and they always find a way to squeeze me in during an emergency. They also have gotten me through two pet deaths and handled the cremation. I live about 35 minutes away, but I still make the trip to get the best care possible for my babies.

Grooming is how we got started with Shondra and i would recommend her to anyone espically if you have a doodle now both of our dogs Boomer and Marley get groomed and see the DRr's. Great Place they have made us customers for life

Dr Jude and Sheabel staff are the best! They have cared for my cats for many years. One of them lived many years past what he would have had it not been for the care given by Dr Jude and her wonderful staff. I’m always happy with the care given and know that I can always get questions answered. I would not go anywhere else for my sweet fur babies!

I absolutely love Dr Jude, as a person and as a doctor. I trust her whole heartedly to take care of all my Daisy's medical needs and I find comfort in knowing that if Daisy every had an emergency, I could reach out to Sheabel. Shondra is Daisy's groomer. She is the best! I don't know how she gets Daisy to sit still to do what she does, but it's nothing short of a miracle. She comes out of there looking like a brand new dog! ❤

Dr. Jude is wonderful! We have been taking our senior dog to Sheabel for about 10 years. Our senior loves everyone there and we always get the best care. They are so helpful in keeping him comfortable in his old age (he’s 13.5 years old). Our little rescue dog is quite scared of the vet (and many people in general) but he has become more comfortable as we have been bringing him. The techs and vets are so kind and give them lots of treats.

Dr. Jude has taken care of our goldendoodle and she is the sweetest most carrying vet I have ever met. She is always on call and treats Belle like one of her own. I would recommend Sheabel because of there excellent service, superior treatment and diagnostic skills, and overall care our Belle. We couldn’t ask for anything else and love her staff too!

Dr. Jude saved our puppy’s life! Our one year old dog was scheduled to be neutered. We received a call during the procedure that there were large hard objects in her stomach. It turned out to be corn on the cob…several large chunks (which would not have been able to move through her system naturally). Had this not been caught by the skilled vet, she could have died!

We use Sheabel frequently for boarding our Great Dane while traveling for vacations, to visit family, or for our kids’ sport tournaments. I know our dog loves it at Sheabel because she is always so excited to arrive. She also gets so excited when the staff come to get her. She is always greeted affectionately by the staff. Another great service offered by Sheabel is the group play! Our dog gets to safely play with other dogs her size! Although, I feel bad at times when we go out of town and cannot bring our dog with us, I know she is receiving excellent care!

Dr. Jude is a talented surgeon, and the only vet I trust to take care of our dogs (who are family). We do all our vetting and boarding at Sheabel. The whole staff really is fabulous, and they all earn these 5 stars every visit.

I have a boxer that I have taken to Sheabel since I bought her at 6 week old and she is almost 2. I pay more for her healthcare than I do my own! A couple months ago she started itching, not fleas because she gets the 3 month chews. I took her in to have her checked and that visit cost over $300! Athena was supposed to have a follow up but my son (the dog is his) took her to his dad's house with him for the summer, so she never got her check up. Well my son just came home and the poor girl is still itching! so whatever they did didn't work, and when I call to take her back in to be seen, they tell me I have to payfor another office visit I lost my job due to Covid and with 3 teens, I cant afford a $300-$500 vet bill. I tried to explain this to the receptionist and as soon as she heard "I can't afford " her whole attitude changed... I could tell they wasn't intresed in the wellbeing of my dog. They just want to see the $$$$$$$$

My husband and I rescue dogs - lots and lots of dogs. Primarily very vulnerable senior/special needs dogs. We've been bringing our dogs to Sheabel for 20 years, and I could not imagine going to any other veterinary clinic. We've been through it all with Dr. Michelle Jude. Whether it's major surgeries to routine care, Dr. Jude has provided the very best medical care to all of our dogs, and her competence is exemplified in every single decision she makes. Even more important is the undeniable fact that she is as fully invested in the health and well-being of our dogs as we are, going out of her way and selflessly sacrificing her personal time in order to help them. She has also been there for me personally in a way that no other professional I've encountered has been. I can say without a shadow of doubt that Dr. Jude is one of the most compassionate and skilled veterinarians around, and we could not do, nor would we want to do, animal rescue without her.

I needed a second opinion on my dog's x-rays...they gave me an obvious high level of information on them. It was obvious that they knew what they were talking about...a nice change for me. They eliminated several months of emotional distress of another veterinarian telling me that there weren't options for my dog. Sheabel removed the endless hours of trying to find out how to keep her comfortable for as long as possible. Now that I don't need to worry about that, my ES-K9 and I are enjoying life again and that is a priceless gift. I did board her and had a bath and brushout done...no problems with either of those services. It is obvious that they care and are extremely knowledgeable. I don't trust many places when it comes to leaving her someplace for boarding but I don't hesitate now if Sheabel will be taking care of her! Kudos to the veterinarians, Vet Techs, groomers and boarding team!

Called for a grooming appointment. I was told it was going to cost around $125. I was happy and excited and I made the appointment. I showed up with my pets vaccination papers dated on 4-22-21, today is 5-9-21. My dog is up to date. Woman at the clinic takes my papers to make copies. When she returns, I’m handed another piece of paper with $181.26 on it. It’s for more vaccinations, more check ups, waste disposal and fecal parasite test. That’s not including the cost of the actual grooming!!! I asked how much in total will this cost. The woman told me around $350+ range. All I wanted is for my pets hair to be cut. She needs it bad and I’m hit with a $350+ potential bill for grooming!?!?!? No no no, that was and is absolute garbage. My dog is healthy and she stays in the house. Why do I need to pay $350+ for a grooming?????? I’ll just go somewhere else thank you. You lost my business for good!!!!!!!

Our dog had an allergic reaction and they were able to get him in and treated within 20 minutes. Super friendly and great with our dog.

I would avoid this place at all costs. I have taken my dog there for about a year, and in the last three months they have absolutely dropped in quality. First, they cut and gave my dog a scar from grooming and didn’t even incline to tell me about it. I had to find out on my own when I got home. Second, they cut my dogs eyelashes without telling us, resulting in hair getting in her eye and scratching her cornea. When I notified them about these incidents, they did not care at all about my dogs well being and asked how she was doing or apologized for hurting her. I would take my dog to any other vet before taking her back here as they clearly do not care about the well being of animals and insanely overpriced for abysmal service.

I wish I could rate them 1000 stars. I have a cat who was very matted to the point of discomfort and doesn’t deal well with new people, however the staff at Sheabel ensured he was comfortable and safe! I was shocked when they said he was so calm he didn’t even need to be put under for his grooming, he usually gets extremely tense and runs away from people he’s unfamiliar with. Great prices, attentive staff & happy cat :-) Muron will definitely be back for any of our vet needs!

Sheabel saved my dog and by doing so saved me. I can’t tell you how many people give me the look when I tell them I go to Sheabel. It’s the look that I ask what on earth is your problem, and it’s always, “they are so expensive, they have a kennel, I just go to ** and they’re so great and you should go there too.” I was going to *** when my dog fell VERY VERY ill, and they truly had no compassion and didn’t listen to a word I said. It was sad because I Had been going there for years. When your dog needs exceptional care, vets that rule out everything (with your permission-not charging you blindly) and treat your animal as it was their own, Sheabel is the only place I will take my dog. I also did the math, they are no more expensive than where I took my dog before- it was simply the way they bill. The bill literally cuts down everything to a $$ whereas other vet clinic adds everything into a lump “visit fee”.. the same. Michelle Jude changed the way I thought a vet was supposed to be. I have a wild dog that gets sick with the strangest unknown things I needed a thinker/researcher. That’s what I got and my dog is ALWAYS in good hands. I can call and get in ASAP when my dog needs it. If you don’t like kenneling, don’t kennel your dog! Also, I asked the top vet in (big city) where to take my dog and he said, Sheabel’s. 2 others said the same and added another vet as well. We give our pets the care we would our children and that is why Sheabel’s is where I go. It’s also why you should try/not just repeat what you hear when it comes to vets.

The service was good, but I was charged more than they originally quoted. I called two separate times prior to dropping my dog off to confirm the cost. In addition, I wasn’t pleased that they required a flu shot to board my dog. I’m not saying this is something that isn’t required, it may be, but this is certainly something that is new to me and I can’t help but wonder if it’s just another way to make money. It isn’t even a one time shot, they require me to come back for another visit in two weeks to have another shot / and another charge. I have never heard of this requirement and in calling other clinics around Lexington, I was unable to find any other clinic that has this requirement for boarding. All of that aside, the service was good.
