Come here and find a friend! I came to drop off donations, but would've grabbed another pup if my house wasn't full of them already.

I love this place, I got my new pet butters from here. You can tell these people really care about the animals and they take good care of them. You can find your lifelong companion here and give a deserving animal a forever loving home.

They're helping out a stray dog we found. They're prompt to respond and very, very kind staff. New to fostering and they've been very helpful.

You can tell that all of the staff love their job and all of the animals there. It was a detailed process to adopt our dog Zenon. We absolutely love her. The photo of all of us was when we got her and the solo is her this week. Great, healthy, and loved member of our family.

A very good resource four animals that can no longer stay at their original home. I highly recommend this place. If anyone was to have to give up their fur babies this is a very good place. ❤????????

This little rescue is doing everything it can to help animals. To my knowledge, they work with the usual cats and dogs of all ages, but also rabbits, guinea pigs, and I believe they've recently helped out with a horse (but I may be wrong on that one.) Some may say Melissa's is giving the animals a second chance at a happy life. While that's true, the animals are also giving people a second chance at being decent humans. Donate, foster, rescue.

This is the best little rescue around! The volunteers and staff have SO much passion for the people and animals they serve. Melissa’s Second Chances has only been my rescue home for a few short months but it’s been an incredible few months! Adopt. Foster. Rescue. Donate. ❤️

I had been looking for a kitten to add to our family. I went to their website and found a beautiful kitten with a well written write up from the foster mom. It mentioned that The kitten gets along great with her two dogs and that was very important to me. I sent in an adoption application and within hours heard back that I was approved. We set up a meet and greet for the next day. My dog and I fell head over heals for baby kitten Finn. We officially adopted him the next day. The whole process was so easy and the communication was excellent. They really have their act together. The day I brought him home, all the vet records were emailed to me. I was able to print them off and give them to my vet so they could enter all his records in their database. Imagine paying a very small price for a pet that’s already been vaccinated, dewormed, neutered and microchipped. I would have spent 4 times the adoption fee to have all that work done at my vet. Finn has been a great addition to our house and he and my 90lb dog are in love and inseparable. Shout out to the foster mom for writing such a detailed bio on Finn. It made the decision so much easier. Everyone at Melissa’s was wonderful. They are a professionally run and compassionate organization. I highly recommend them. I hear this often and i couldn’t agree more…Adopt-Dont Shop.

Nice people. Great dogs. I wish I would have had better information on the dog we got. But overall, great place.

About two weeks ago, we adopted a dog named Carson. We had the dog 5 hours before I had to return him due to him attacking another dog at the vet's office, unprovoked. The other dog required surgery and luckily made it through. Carson also had a balding spot on his tail that was bleeding and bothered him - which I noticed within an hour of having him. The vet stated that a portion of this tail would need to be amputated, that he had a possible infection on top of his head, and that he had fleas. When I tried to contact Melissa's Second Chances after we found all of this out, no-one answered. I called 3 times and emailed. The young girl at the front desk was kind, but I was not asked any questions about ourselves or to sign one single piece of paper. She also specifically told me that she did not feel Carson was aggressive with pets or otherwise. She conveniently mentioned, after we said we would adopt him, that he had heart worms. I feel like you should mention that FIRST, not last. Despite the heart worms we took him home. They did say they would pay for all of his treatment at their preferred vet. When I returned the dog, the young girl did not want to discuss any of the issues we had, did not want my vet's information, and said that she didn't believe he had fleas because they had him evaluated by their vet. Apparently they did not because this poor dog had multiple issues. A family's dog was attacked, My 5 year old son was heartbroken, and I was furious. I see he is back on the site for adoption. I hope they are upfront about him, and other dogs they have. I will say that my vet said she did not trust Carson with children due to unprovoked aggression. I see on their website they have him listed as fine with kids - this is simply not true, and it is dangerous. We were refunded our money which was frankly surprising and also telling. I also find it interesting that they have a 4.5 review, especially when you read the reviews that are NOT 5 stars. All in all, I do not recommend this shelter to anyone.

The lady running this place is a raging b. Our dog came in already microchipped & they couldn't find it so they microchipped her again. Twice. So now she's microchipped 3x & we had to pay $75 for a service we didn't want or need. All while the lady talked down to us. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS.

We wanted a adopt a chihuahua. She was in a hoarding situation and we were told that but she was in no way ready to be adopted. She snapped and bit us everytime we tried to touch her. Drew blood a few times. Ran and hid all time. She snapped at our other chichi's. We dont blame her at all. She doesn't know any better. She has no business being put up for adoption. She is not socialized enough Took her back

Adopted a dog from them— very quick adoption, with no checks or making sure this dog was the right fit for our family, despite them knowing this was our first experience adopting a dog. The dog was sweet but consistently was (unintentionally) hurting my young children and destroying my house by chewing. None of this was disclosed to me- perhaps because their foster parents kept her in a cage 9 hrs/day as a puppy (what they said). When we finally couldn’t take her destructive behaviors anymore after enduring hell for 3 months and returned her— THAT is when they told us we could have contacted them earlier for behavioral training— something they NEVER advised us we could have done earlier. By that time we were done, and we knew she would be adopted fast as a puppy so we felt she would be a better fit in another home without kids and more attention. When I tried to go back a few months later to adopt a much calmer dog without chewing puppy issues, the worker I spoke with blamed us for not doing right by the dog, and stated she never had any issues with her next family (meanwhile all I hear is that lab puppies have issues with chewing until they are 3-4 yrs old!). She said that no dog would probably be right for us, since we couldn’t take that puppy— and was just being extremely condescending and judgmental. In the end I decided not to adopt from them again because of their lack of believing in the right “fit” for a family and that extremely condescending person I spoke with. I think she also thought I was too stupid to post this review.

I'm sure the women who run this place are very nice. Yes they may be doing God's work, if you can get someone to a return a phone message that you leave. Ran into this when we were trying to adopt as well as this past Monday. Left a message & you guessed it didn't return the call.
