Blue Pearl SAVED my cat's life this weekend (January 15th 2022). Everyone working Saturday night was absolutely amazing to us. We got news he needed emergency surgery. The professional and compassionate care the entire staff showed us was …

This was my first visit to the hospital. I was very impressed with the neurologist, Dr. Carmen Yeamans McGee, and the vet technician. They took their time with my beloved pet. They listened and answered all of my questions. My experience here went above and beyond my expectations.

Both front desk employees that day were very helpful especially when I called first thing in the morning. I have never had to take a pet to an emergency vet before and they helped me step through what I needed to do and what was going to happen once I was there. The doctor that saw my dog zoey came out after examining her and explained everything to me in terms I could understand. Overall we had a great experience.

Our experience at this vet was awful. Our cat was having neurological symptoms and one of her eyes had anisocoria. We saw a neurologist. Cat was supposed to be checked for tumors and infectious disease. Neuro said the cat's eye would likely have to be removed. Dr said over and over again how bad my cat was doing. Cat was almost killed from the anesthesia. Neuro told us at least 15 times the cat would probably die. They didn’t do the spinal tap they were supposed to do while the cat was already anesthetized. Neuro diagnosed the cat with 7 meningiomas based on the MRI. A week later, when the blood/urine test came back, we found out the cat had a serious but treatable fungal infection. They stuck a needle into her bladder for the fungal test rather than just take blood from her arm. This vet scares you with threats of death and worst case scenarios. They don’t do all the tests discussed while the animal is already under anesthesia. They charged us for a $5,000 MRI when a blood test could have been done first. Communication is extremely difficult. It was much more stressful than it needed to be. Never go here. Adding: the positive test for cryptococcus was in on Dec 11 but Blue Pearl did not inform us or start meds until Dec 15. My cat suffered and was left untreated when the test results were in. They do not care about your pet.

It's an emergency vet clinic. It's obviously going to be very expensive. But the staff and veterinarian were nothing but caring and great today, especially on Christmas Eve. Thank you for all you did to help him out.

A few days ago some of the saddest things happened, I lost my baby, videl, it was my kitten, she swallowed a ball and I couldn't do anything to save her, it broke my heart to have to say goodbye, my daughter, who is in the marines, She left Videl to me and she will no longer be when she returns, it was my birthday the day I had to make the decision to let her go,I cried like never before my son is sick, my daughter is not here and my Videl left this world, the staff of this hospital Without knowing my situation they were so kind and attentive to me I have no words to thank them for their help, it is difficult to find a hospital that cares for your pets with love and affection, they are babies for which one would give everything,I recommend 100% and much more this place thank you with all my heart for being so kind and sensitive to all of us may God bless you.

The worst service I've ever received in my life and it's for my dog which is even worse! All they do is try to get you to pay for extra services verus treating your dog for EMERGENCY services. My husband took my dog in at 10am and dropped him off soon after. It's now 6:05 and no treatment has been issued to my dog who hasn't eaten and dehydrated...All because didn't want to run $1600 plus worth of test. My current vet had to leave town for an emergency and has been treating him for an aliment. At 3:41 I gave the financial coordinator the ok to start treatment. SHE BEVER ASKED TO COLLECT PAYMENT AND HUNG UP. This is after the rude vet tech or vet also hung up on me. I can be rude but when you show zero empathy and try to just come after my wallet and threaten possible cancer of which you can eve worth of test n treat in two days so why run $2500 worth of test. So at 5:58 pm they call and say they haven't started treatment because they haven't received payment! After giving a $600 deposit vs payment who knows when they started treatment. It's now 7 am when I was told to be there to get him and they won't release him untill the doctor is there at 8:30-9am on top of trying to charge me for 24 hours of iv treatment when he got 12. Why I only paid deposit as that's what the financial coordinator told me. Do not go here. They care about pockets not animals.

I called for an estimate for emergency spay for my dog and they told me after asking a tech it was $3,000 to $5,000. When I got there, the estimate suddenly changed for no explainable reason to $5,000 to $7,000 and they wanted a $6,000 deposit. They didn’t communicate any of that to me, and didn’t give me any kind of breakdown. I decided to take my dog to MU instead which was a better customer service experience, their total came in under the estimate and I received an itemization of expected expenses. The deposit was $2,000 and there’s been much better communication. It’s a bit of a drive but I would recommend you take your fur baby to MU in KC instead.

My poor Sambuca had an obstruction in his bowels. He couldn't walk and I was having a breakdown, not knowing if he'd get through whatever was happening. The clinic on Bannister sent me here for an ultrasound and possible IV, and he ended up needing surgery. I was a wreck, but the staff was very patient, caring, and considerate. They got him from my car (80 lb dog, so not an easy feat) and took him back for an ultrasound immediately. The doctor explained what they saw and he went over the cost of the surgery and other charges as well as the expected time in the the hospital. They gave me a high and low estimate to prepare me for the costs, which is very much appreciated. I do not have a lot of money, but it was worth every penny to see Sambuca be able to eat and walk and wag his tail again. It ended up being a little lower than the lowest estimate which was a relief as well. They called me before and after surgery and each day afterward to update me on his progress and the charges. When I took him home, I had a full document outlining what was found, the procedures they performed, the medications he was prescribed and what to expect. They included a picture of the item they removed from his bowels as well as the measurements, even though it wasn't identifiable. He looked much better than I expected when I picked him up after such a rough week. I'm so thankful they were able to save my baby boy and take such good care of him. I'd hug everyone there given the chance. Thank you so much!

While I am forever grateful for Dr. White and the rest of the medical team for saving our JRT, Dexter, the cost was exorbitant. They gave us estimates of $5,300 with no complications and $6,200 with. Dexter had no complications and it cost us $6,650+. If you try to talk to the lady at discharge, just know she is NOT pleasant, no matter how respectful you to talk to her. UPDATE: After talking with someone higher up, it was discovered that we had been overcharged and were refunded.

I bought my cat Charlie there Friday late afternoon. I thought I was loosing my cat. He was frothing at the mouth and grasping for air. The veterinarian was awesome and explained everything to me and explained my cost which I had to prepay for upfront for the scoping. Went to go pick my cat up at 10 pm from the scoping and paid the the remaining amount of 122.00. As I was looking at the itemized bill , I noticed after hour charges of 560.00 on my receipt. I asked about these charges and why does it say after hour fee if you are a 24/7 emergency med vet. The lady checking me out couldn't give me a straight answer. I wanted a contact number to dispute these 560.00 charges out of a 3000.00 . I called this past Monday and left a message for a manager. I have not received a call back. So I sent a email yesterday, still no response.Folks please be Leary of their billing practices. If they ask you to prepay ask for a detailed estimate of the charges.Good veterinarian but shady billing practices. Not talking bad about quality of care but I feel they take advantage of people financially when they are in a vulnerable state with a crisis relating with their pet.

I brought my loving sweet feline to the clinic for evaluation after little dedication and little water intake. He was dehydrated and despite having a creatinine of 2.4 he wasn’t give iv fluids. He was sent home with the advice well he’s eating food so he’ll be okay. I had asked them to get labs, they weren’t even going to until I asked. Who doesn’t treat dehydration!? Well they don’t. Obviously. Wow….. 5 days later went to another pet ER in town that’s highly reputable after my kitty states vomiting and have tummy pain. He was admitted for abdominal pain, constipation, and an elevated creatinine. U/S to rule out pancreatitis was relatively okay. Lipase was slightly elevated (Blue Pearl didn’t even get a lipase despite me saying he had thrown up twice)……..He’s still admitted getting IV fluids. I will never go back to Blue Pearl. No thanks Dr. Odel. Not interested. You should trust your clients when they say something is off with regards to their pet. Do NOT take you loving pet here.

I had an overnight emergency with my pet and took her here to get care, this is my first time using BluePearl and I'm definitely going to come back if I need them again in the future. My pet hasn't even finished her treatment and she's already acting like her usual self. Dr Blouin DVM, and the team here, are the best! Thank you for everything!

Called for pricing and maybe advice on a pressing concern with my pet, before my usual vet was even open, and was met with rudeness and dismissive attitude, told to go to my usual vet before I could even explain how bad they were. I will not be calling back.

Dr. Bragg and the Blue Pearl team was able to get our very sick little baby boy stabilized and back home to us after having to be hospitalized for a couple of days due to renal failure. They were very compassionate and was always willing to answer any and all of our questions and concerns. We were able to call anytime we wanted for updates and Dr. Bragg also kept in contact with us each day to give us daily updates as him being the doctor. We are extremely grateful for everything that they did!

Horrible experience. Came in for an estimate of treatment after my vet could not perform the surgery needed but they care way more about getting money out of you than helping you. Receptionist would not listen or look at the doctor notes/xrays and said they would have to re-diagnose and take xrays again. I just wanted an estimate of what the treatment would cost. I can see why their rating is so low

We have used this hospital for emergency services and to see specialists many times over the last 20 years and doing so saved and improved the lives of several of our dogs. The services provided have been totally comparable to a human hospital. Most recently our poodle had surgery performed by Dr. Millard due to a cancer diagnosis. I was very impressed with her ability to diagnose the condition upon examination based upon her high level of experience and her willingness to fit us is and perform the surgery the following day since our poodle was in pain and her conscientiousness during the entire recovery process following the surgery. Dr. Heeb, the oncologist, provided a very detailed consultation of the options available following the surgery. Both doctors were very compassionate. We also had another dog several years ago treated by Dr. Heeb with chemotherapy that successfully extended his life and improved the quality of his life for an additional year after his diagnosis. Also, internist, Dr. Viebrock treated another poodle we had for several years. He had significant medical conditions managed very well by Dr. Viebrock and her services improved and extended his life. Additionally, all the emergency room doctors that have treated our dogs over the years have provided great services as well. I would strongly recommend this hospital.

I Don't really have any good things to say about this vet hospital front desk staff and office manager are very rude but the Drs and technician's would get high ratings I will never be going back to this vet hospital ever again. They don't work with you on payment and will not file with your insurance company since they only work with one company. Even if you get it pre approved.

What a terrible facility. Took our dog in, and, unfortunately, he had to be euthanized. Before the procedure, and after already spending $2300, we were told that we had a credit on our account, and that we would be receiving a refund. Immediately after the procedure, I went to the check out counter to confirm that we owed nothing. The clerk confirmed we were owed a refund. Then today we received an email saying we owed an additional $576, and we're not receiving a credit. Additionally, that invoice included a $119 fee for cremation, which we did NOT ask for or do. When I called to ask about these charges and explain what were were told, I was treated with disrespect and told that management would be told and we could discuss when we picked up our dog. When we picked him up, they still charged us for the cremation, that we didn't do. Additionally, they charged us for things not discussed prior to the euthanasia. I called to discuss this with the financial manager, again, and was told she wouldn't speak with me. Do NOT take your pet to this facility. They only want money. They don't care about your fur family!!!

I took my dog in for breathing issues. The woman very there (forgot her name) was amazing. She was very honest with us about the cost of everything and what could work for a cheaper price and what would definitely work for a super expensive price. She didn’t try to sneak any extra fees or items in on the bill like some vets do. The only reason I give it four star and not five is because of the outrageous price but I can somewhat understand that it’s expected in an emergent care facility. Thank you thank you to the vet that helped my baby boy Nike.

I would avoid BluePearl at all cost. They have been on a decline for years and all they care about now is making money. I recently took my dog in who had to stay 2 nights and it cost over $3000. They wanted to keep him a 3rd night and his health was on the decline. I told them I wanted my dog back and after working with my vet and doing what he recommended my dog made a swift recovery. I would have also paid 1/6th or less of the price I paid BluePearl and received way better service. The first BluePearl also misdiagnosed my dog and made me panic that there was a dire situation. BluePearl also has terrible communication and I had to call regularly for updates as they would not provide any. Lastly my vet used to recommend BluePearl but now he cannot recommend people to BluePearl anymore due to their decline in service and increase to prices. There are way better places than here, I would avoid BluePearl if you care about your pet.

Is this place a sick practical joke? Emergency veterinary medicine? Doubtful. It's ridiculous that Lawrence, KS has no emergency vets, but it's even more ridiculous that they refer to this place. I called six times on a Sunday morning and got no answer. In the pandemic era, there is no guarantee that places are open during their posted hours, so I always call first. Driving a half hour is no big deal unless you get there and they're not open. SIX phone calls. How is this even possible for a place that claims to be an emergency vet. There is no excuse for this. I find it unlikely that Blue Pearly doesn't have the money to staff their facility. Go to Topeka.

I visited BluePearl Pet Hospital in OP, KS in the wee hours of the morning 2 days ago and the experience was great. My dog had a UTI and was frantic, pacing and in pain, trying to urinate every 15-minutes. Todd Odie, DVM was her doctor, he was very patient with her and explained everything in detail to me. One of the tests he needed to do, he couldn't do and I wasn't charged. I would have never known, I appreciate his integrity as well, and not doing tests just for money. His attendant was also great with my pet, very caring and patient. They handled a scared dog in pain with gentleness and care. I pray I never have to go to emergency care again but would recommend them to anyone who may be in need. Thanks!

BluePearl Hospital saved our dogs life. He had an intestinal obstruction that was getting ready to tear. They provided emergency surgery and he was well cared for in the ICU dept for 5 days. Each doctor that we worked with was very patient and kind to us in explaining everything along the way. They were upfront with the costs at every step. We would not have trusted any other doctors to perform this type of major surgery. I knew he was in the care of the best specialists. Thank you again for saving Thor's life.
