Lewis Veterinary Clinic Lawrence, Kansas

My mom use to take our cats to Dr.Lewis in the 90's. The offices appearance has not changed since then. My advice is... this vet is great when it comes to just getting vaccines on your animals or having a physical done on a stable animal. If your animal is sick or has a more critical or complex issue it is probably best to go to a different vet. Dr. Lewis is reaching the end of his career and doesn't have that twinkle in his eye or spring in his step anymore if you know what I mean. I feel he just doesn't have the capacity to deal with bigger problems with animals.at this juncture in his life.This is not to say he isn't a great vet...he is. He just doesn't have the energy or that caring attitude to want to get to the bottom of issues for your animal. I have had the feeling a few times when going to Dr.Lewis for my animals dermatological problems that he was just giving me a generic answer or didn't really want to deal with the issue or be thorough. I take my dog to Eudora vet for her dermatologic problems and to Dr. Lewis for easy stuff like vaccines.

I have been taking my Westie Daisy there for the last 3-4 months since we got her . Doctor Lewis is not only gentle but too understanding.. once I had to take Daisy dude to her sudden skin itching issue .. He cured her in one shot .

After calling around every single vet in town for 2 hours yesterday, being turned down by EVERY SINGLE ONE to see a very sick kitten who just needed to start antibiotics ASAP, one of them told me to call Lewis because they’re the ONLY walk-in vet! I walked in the next day at 8am and was seen immediately, appt was only around 10 min, and total, including antibiotics, eye drops, was only $69! They are warm, genuine, friendly, & prompt. I am so grateful!

My mom used to get house calls from doctor Lewis long ago. Best vet in town I'd never take my dog's anywhere else. He teaches you about your animal and you are his nurse when you take you pet's here. Love this man. Just took in my 17 year old Dachshund that had a stroke. He helped me understand everything. Put me at ease????Thank you Dr. Lewis

Doc Lewis is an exceptional Veterinarian. He has been at this location for over 50 years! He knows what he's doing. If you want a true experienced professional attending to your pet's needs this is the Pet Clinic you're looking for. Our beloved cat Kokopelli had a terrible infection that spread rapidly and prevented her old body (15 years old) from recieving nutrition and destroyed her ability to breathe without extreme labor. Doc Lewis was absolutely exceptional in explaining her options moving forward seeking the highest quality of life possible. Unfortunately the concensus was she would most likely not make it much longer due to her extreme dehydration and brittle state. We decided together that her best quality of life was releasing her from the severe pain she was in. I can't thank Doc Lewis enough. He allowed me to hold her while her life passed. It means the world to me that she passed with me there by her side vs. her dying alone in extreme discomfort.

I had an excellent experience at Lewis Vet Clinic. A stray kitten made it's way into my life and I didn't want to introduce my current cats to it before I made it didn't have any communicable issues. I called 5 vets in town that all told me their soonest opening was roughly a month away. Lewis told me I could come in any time, and I ended up going in about an hour later, and being in and out with a clean bill of health and his first vaccine very quickly. They were professional while also being personable and not cold and stodgy. The pricing was also incredibly reasonable, I'd definitely recommend them.

Dr. Lewis has taken care of my animals for over 20 years. He and his staff always make the trip easier. Thanks for all you guys do, it is very appreciated!

I bring my dog from Gardner KS to Dr. Lewis wouldn't go any place else. He doesn't BS you around gets you what the animal needs and is very very cheap. Keep up the good work Dr. Lewis

Been going here for years and my dad took my old dogd there for years before that. Dr. Lewis is old school and resonable in his prices.

My Wife and I brought our kitty DC (Daddy’s Cat) to the vet due to his breathing getting labored, Dr Lewis said how about we keep him overnight to put in the O2 tent n hope it helps, well sadly WE had to put DC down due to a blood clot n we didn’t want him to suffer anymore! This was one of the hardest things we had to do together since we’ve been together!! Dc knows Dr Lewis!! He took a liking to him even tho it’s the vet, I mean how can u not like Dr Lewis, he’s adorable for one, but his passion for veterinary is so obvious and the way all our animals took to him is a sign to Us! He reassured us we were doing the responsible thing and we definitely needed that! Plus he is super affordable n does his best to help u n give u the knowledge that u need!! Thank U Dr Lewis and Staff!! We definitely miss DC daily, but he’s in a better place, and thank u for the blanket that he respectfully placed our friend in!! Freaking miss that dude DC!!

Dr Lewis is terrific with your four legged family members and is reasonably priced.

This place is a hidden gem. Between the excellent service and the vet's attention to care and detail, I can't imagine taking them anywhere else. The prices are also surprisingly lower than most other vets in the area.

Whatever doubts I may have had when I walked in the door, Dr. Lewis completely won me over with his humble brilliance and his deep empathy. It's clear that he brings a lifetime of experience to his work. It also doesn't hurt that his practice is shockingly affordable.

My fiance took our kitten, to this place and the receptionist was unnecessarily rude and the bet barely looked at our kitten before giving a bland answer. We are going to be going elsewhere to get actual advice and not just a 3 minute bullcrap visit

Very affordable vet care. If your on a budget and don't have thousands of dollars to spend on your loving pet then Lewis is a great place.

Worst vet in Lawrence. DO NOT take your fur baby here! They've got good ratings bc the younger vet is attractive and that's IT. Misdiagnosed my cat and she passed away bc of their quick and incompetent services. Never again!
