I have used Blue Pearl in the past for emergency veterinary services, and prefer them to the others in the area. December 19, 2021 was the first time I had to use them for another more difficult and painful reason. Our beloved rescue, Pretty Penny Lane, had a host of medical issues. We knew she had more days behind her than ahead of her when we adopted her in May 2021. It became apparent she was declining quickly. Literally everyone there treated me, my family, and perhaps most importantly, Penny, with love, care, and respect. They gave us all the time and space we needed to say goodbye. They held Penny until the pet mortuary opened; and when I went to pick her up, they had her blankets and pillow neatly folded in a bag and made an impression of her paw. We also received a sympathy card signed by their staff. Such a painful moment for us. So grateful for such a caring and professional team.

Absolutely disgusting. Lied about giving my dog pain meds and the first thing they suggested for a possible dislocated hip was euthanasia.

Last time I had pet care this bad I had to amputate my cat's leg.

Went there because my dog got ran over, they told me she was given a shot to help with the pain but she never received it and they said I should put her down. I went to another vet and was told that her hip was dislocated and that she might need surgery, NOTHING about have to put her down. Thanks for being trash.

I want to thank the staff at Blue Pearl. Amy at the check in was extremely kind & very friendly along with Dr. Lara Taylor, and medical staff. We have a 10-month-old Belgian Malinois that is usually extremely active. He was not feeling well at all & they gave my puppy wonderful care. They were so gentle with him and went beyond to get this guy back on track to feel better. I highly recommend them; they gave us great advice & treated him exceedingly kind and found what worked for him. Thank you, Blue Pearl my puppy feels better, because of your help & advice to bring him in. The Snead’s

Vet, receptionist, and vet tech were great and knowledgeable. The lady who was reading us discharge instructions was ridiculous. We were just told our baby has a life threatening condition. I was bawling and my hubby was a little short. All he said was we've heard this about 5 times and the lady said "no need to be rude you can take your paperwork and go" then just walked away. Sorry we weren't sunshine and rainbows but that was pretty insulting. Horrible bedside manor.

I had to take my pup here quite recently. They were quick to my initial phone call and fast to get my pup taken care of!! I don't remember the vet on duty that night, but she was extremely knowledgeable, kind, and made me feel at ease from the start. I highly recommend going here if you ever get into a pet emergency. It was absolutely worth every penny!! :)

Last Sunday I had to take my daughters' very ill chiweenie in to be seen. Unfortunately we had to make the decision to have her put down. The staff was so understanding and supportive for my family. Today I received a card with all the staff members' signatures as well as paw and nose prints. There is no words to express how much this will mean to my girls. Thank you.

They may be good at what they do and caring, however the pricing is crazy expensive.

My mother brought her 15 year old white & black tuxedo cat, Sox in for an emergency visit. She has very limited finances & they were very understanding & still did everything they could to take care of him & help him make it through the night. I highly recommend them to anyone who has any emergency for their fur babies.

They lied to us and put making money ahead of the welfare of our cat.

If you have an emergency with your pet this is hands-down the place to go! In my opinion, their Emergency Services are second to none!

I had to lay my 17 year old Cat Paco to rest as he was rapidly dying and in pain. They were very supportive and were very professional. They made prints of his paws and his nose for me to keep. After returning home I received a card with the signatures of all the staff telling me they were sorry for my loss and that I was in their prayers it was very heart felt for me. I fully recommend this vet.

I want to thank Dr. Lara Taylor and her staff for taking such good care of my Min Pin Butch. He was very sick and she used her expertise and he has recovered and doing great. Everyone in the office were very pleasant and caring. I knew we were in good hands. Thank you so much. Anne Allison

We waited 2 hours before being seen in a freezing cold room with our dog. Then waited another hour to get a script. The brunette lady at the front was completely rude to us and every other customer in there. Won’t go back to this place or recommend to anyone else.

Called ahead and told them I had a paralyzed dog who needed to be seen and it was an emergency. They told me to call when I arrived and the techs would bring out a gurney. I got there and called to ask for a gurney, I explained the situation and they genuinely asked “so what are you wanting? Are you wanting pain meds or for her to be looked at?” Obviously I wanted her looked at because I didn’t understand why my poor dog was paralyzed but screaming in pain. They said if I want my dog looked at then I need to go to the Overland Park location because that’s not really what they do at this location. SERIOUSLY?! YOU ARE AN EMERGENCY VET REFUSING TO SEE AN ANIMAL HAVING AN EMERGENCY. Shame on you. Don’t waste your time and just go to the OP location.

Still a devolving situation, and my dog is ok no thanks to them. I would beg anyone and everyone to RUN from this place. I’ll give an accurate account once I’m fully updated. They were just so cold and uncaring.

The best way to describe my experience with this Emergency Vet is mixed. Our family was in the midst of an incredibly trying ordeal. On a Sunday afternoon, the house caught fire & completely burned down. The dog was removed quickly, but the three cats suffered smoke inhalation and one an eye injury before they were rescued. Thankfully everyone is good! I honestly don’t know how most people afford these services, however. I understand all emergency care is pricey (I have paid for surgery & follow-up care before elsewhere), but for fairly limited services, I feel the charges were extreme. We attempted to use the K-State vet office in the Northland first. They kindly arranged for us to go to BP instead because they had the three oxygen chambers we needed. It was a Sunday night when we arrived and the office hours were listed as 24 hours...But...Because we technically were there after midnight and into Monday, they closed at 8:00 am. No one explained this to me as I left the cats at 1:00 am. I was told to check on them at 6:30am (after a traumatic day and no sleep). I was kept on hold for over twenty minutes when the vet finally told me the cats should be okay and said to come and pick them up (I was 25 miles away) by 8:00. If someone had explained this procedure to me, I probably would have made other arrangements. To pay almost $1,000 per cat (for exams, O2, eye drops, and antibiotic for one cat) for LESS THAN 8 HRS OF CARE seems exorbitant and somewhat predatory to me. We maxed out the Care Credit and pooled resources in the midst of a house loss to save these loved ones and would do it again, of course. I just hate that those costs could keep some from saving their pets. This discharge procedure must be communicated! Especially when the weekend hours state open 24 hours, and people are in traumatic situations. Do not expect people to think to ask these questions! The vet was friendly enough up to this point and said, “Sorry...No one told you?” Not genuinely apologetic for my confusion or the fact that I had to drop everything at the drop of a hat to then make the next arrangements. Transferred them to my regular vet and they were great. Front desk employee at BP was very kind and friendly, but I suspect she’s the one who dropped the communication ball. Know that your pets will probably receive good technical care, just please be aware of their hours of operation if you aren’t yet familiar with this procedure. And prepare to break the bank.

Our family cat of almost 21 years passed away on Saturday night. The staff were incredibly compassionate and respectful during this difficult time. Our cat passed away as soon as we pulled up, but they rushed out to our car as fast as they could to bring her inside. I appreciated them wrapping her in a blanket, making her look presentable as we said our final goodbyes. Thank you for taking care of Abby, as well as me, my mom and my brother.

Took my cat of 15 years in to end his pain and have him cremated. This was an extremely hard day for me and my kids. BluePearl was absolutely fantastic. They were very caring and compassionate. I highly recommend them.
