Kutter Pet Care Center Andover, Kansas

First impressions are pretty important when deciding where to go for vet clinics and as far as what I witnessed was anything but professional. Taking care of some background info I went with a friend of mine to see what Kutters currently only vet described on the website was like and WOW was I surprised. Not only did Dr. Matt Zimmermans seem to not even look at my friends cats basic info but also they took her out of the clinic room to do the basic check up things like weight and temp. I don't know about all the COVID-19 policies they have in place affects whether or not an elderly cat needs to be taken to a separate room to do weight but, when the vet tech Whitney that we had already brought the scale into the room we were in it seems highly suspicious and not to mention the fact that they did not discuss why they needed to to what they were doing and when my friend reference's her cat being taken out of the room they simply left. I was furious and why shouldn't I be? There was a complete lack of communication they simply didn't seem to want to even do their job. I will never return and I hope some people will take this as a sign to not go there either.

The establishment is very nice and welcoming.

Staff made an error with medication for a cat left for boarding. This required IV and an additional, overnight stay. When we were first alerted to the issue, the vet agreed it was likely a medication error. However, the next day the vet then tried to CHARGE us for the treatment required to fix the staff's mistake! He claimed we "couldn't prove" the medical issue was due to a staff mistake and, when we refused to pay for their error, he claimed the cat was "full of fleas anyway" and wouldn't be "allowed" to be boarded there in the future-- as if we would ever trust a pet with someone like this ever again. Do NOT trust your pets with this place.

We saw a female doctor whom we loved!!! Our dog was long overdue for a nail trim that resulted in an infection and she didn’t make us feel guilty and took care of it right away. She warned us that he would be upset and that we would hear him cry but assured us he was safe and ok. He hasnt skipped a beat since it was taken care of. We will go again and request her, Dr Fawcett.

They have always been very kind and caring and taken exceptional care of our Pomeranians.

I have a dog sitter that is wonderful and was worried about my pet. Took her to the vet which is KUTTER PET CARE in Andover. Didn’t call me or ask for permission to treat or give medicine to my dog. Which is my dog By inheritance because my mom passed away and I inherited this dog. Cutters didn’t call me to confirm or ask but now they want to bill me because of what my mother signed “” Taylor @KUTTER said well unless your mother forged your signature. I said my mom’s dead that would be really hard for her to do! Taylor says what do you want me to do Hollie. I simply asked her to make things right and she said that they didn’t do anything wrong. that’s why I go to the vet clinic in El Dorado!

I brought my cat here on 7/6 for an urgent visit because her normal vet couldn't get her in. She has a SEIZURE in the office, in front of staff and doctor and he treated her for hypoglycemia without even checking her blood work, which I found takes two minutes to check glucose on a cat after my emergency visit to the animal hospital. Kutter saw my cat, rushed through her care, was extremely rude to me(honestly I could have ignored this if not for the rest). Now my cat has been at the animal hospital since Saturday due to his negligence. He should have checked her blood. Her platelets were at 22,000 Saturday and the animal hospital told me she could spontaneously bleed out at those levels. She is fighting for her life because he did not give her the proper care and attention she needed and deserved. I never said to try to keep my vet bill small to him, I never said to not do tests at all. I actually asked for an x-ray that was never done. I don't write bad reviews often (look at my history of Google to see, I usually leave great reviews because I understand things happen at times and try not to hang on to those things). This however, I am losing a family member because of his direct negligence and lack of care. On top of being extremely rude, he is not caring, or attentive. His bedside manner is awful and I don't know how he has his own practice. Literally the worse medical experience in my life, including my human experiences. I am speaking to a lawyer first thing when I can today because my cat should not be suffering like she is right now. Message me on Facebook and I can send recorded calls between the get and I when I made the appointment and asked for an x-ray before hand and when I called back because of negligence. I also have receipts of what he did and what the animal hospital found and has done. I will gladly share to keep another pet owner from experiencing the heartache and pain my child and I have been through over this.

The staff at Kutter helped us tremendously when we lost our furry family member. Very thorough in their diagnosis and considerate with their care. I highly recommend!

One of the best I've come across. I've been having issues with something my dog is going through and they stepped out of their way to do extra to help me. Very sweet women working there.

Great veterinarian! Great staff! Great with my pets, always accommodating. If you're anywhere near them, I highly recommend!!

Update May 2021: I filed a complaint to the Kansas Veterinary State Board. After months of an investigation and deliberation, Dr. Kutter was found GUILTY (see the attached letter). I do NOT recommend Kutter Pet Care Center. Dr. Kutter completely MISDIAGNOSED my cat which led to her death. In November 2020, I took my cat to Dr. Kutter for rapid breathing. She was taken back for blood work by a technician and brought back to me in respiratory distress, gasping for air (she was NOT like this upon arrival). I called for help and a technician took her to the backroom where Dr. Kutter examined her for the first time. She was now being pinned down with an oxygen mask over her face, increasing her fear and exacerbating her condition. An x-ray revealed fluid in the chest and Dr. Kutter quickly diagnosed her with FIP (feline infectious peritonitis), stating it was fatal and recommended immediate euthanasia as the only viable treatment. He then walked away to examine other patients and left my cat in an emergency crisis, gasping for air. I had no choice but to authorize euthanasia as he did nothing to stabilize her condition. I called Dr. Kutter the next day to discuss the diagnosis and my concerns, and he refused to return my call. I had a necropsy (animal autopsy) and additional testing performed confirming a diagnosis of feline hypertrophic cardiomyopathy with NO EVIDENCE of FIP. I was pressured into authorizing euthanasia as Dr. Kutter did nothing to stabilize her after their extremely rough and hurried treatment elevated my cat’s respiratory distress to life threatening levels. I was denied the opportunity to even discuss my questions/concerns with Dr. Kutter after her death. My cat was given a fatal, incorrect diagnosis that she did NOT have.

We now have two rescue pups who visit this vet. They are informative and kind. The techs love on our dogs and the docs are efficient and kind. We have used the boarding facility several times. Our 2 year-old loves daycare during boarding and our 5 year-old tolerates it. The office is super clean and spacious. If your pet is skittish or anxious the support team is quick to put them at ease with snacks and cuddling.

We have been going to Kutter's for about 3 or 4 years now. Very professional, Joy does a great job grooming our dogs.
