The staff at both the hospital and pet resort is phenomenal. Sometimes it’s tough to find a place where my dog feels comfortable due to many quirks he has from being a rescue. He now loves both the vet and going to boarding because of how good they are to him. You can really tell that they care about your pet and treat them as if they were their own. It also helps that anytime he goes into boarding, I can get his vaccines and whatever else he needs from the vet side. Highly recommend and will continue to use VCA animal hospital and pet resort.

My dog loves the vets here. They always ask to give him treats and my sheltie is always excited to go. They seem to have the ability to fit you in when every other vet turns you away. It has been my go to since I got my dog and they have made me feel very comfortable in times where my dog is sick and I’m super worried about him. The receptionist is fantastic and their team is second to none. I couldn’t imagine going anywhere else for my dog. I also find their prices to be very competitive and I love their care plan. It works well for my dog and I schedule to bring him somewhat regularly to get checked up. Love this clinic and would highly recommend if you’re in the area

Money hungry is the best way to describe them. Added on fees that were unnecessary. Don't waste your time or money here.

Not very transparent about pricing and diagnosis. Felt like our dog was tested and paid more than what doctor diagnosed.

I have been taking my pets to Dr. Jon Aluise for years and I can’t recommend him highly enough. He has always provided the best care for my animals. A couple of years ago, I adopted an anxious chihuahua from the humane society and I was devastated to learn that he had a pretty severe heart murmur. On top of that, my little man came with a massive attitude problem. Dr. Jon guided me through these issues, offering support, encouragement, and frank, but empathetic, discussion regarding treatments. A good veterinarian thinks first of their patient. And I have always felt that Dr. Jon has presented me with the best options for care. If I couldn’t manage what he recommended, then we kept communication open and worked to develop a care plan that fit my circumstances. Dr. Jon is genuine, caring, intelligent, and devoted to his patients. If you’re looking for a veterinarian to trust with your pet’s care, then Dr. Jon is your guy.

Friendly staff, easy access and honest service. We’ve been going here for years now and would recommend for sure! One of our dogs ended up having eye issues and helped us along the way to find out what was happening. After several tests were completed they immediately advised us to another eye specialist at K-State. After the surgery from K-State we were grateful it turned out so successful!????????????❤️????

As a precursor to my review, if it wasn’t for how Dr. Jon Aluise decided to treat me near the end of my visit, I would of had a decent impression of this vet experience. Besides the fact that waiting room I was in smelled like various forms of defecation (thank god for my face mask), all was going well until the last moments of my visit. Keep in mind- I’m a new, first time patient. I came to this vet with concerns over tapeworms in my cat. After hearing the doctor’s analysis, which was it not probably tapeworms, but rather external, in the moment I said “Oh, then I probably shouldn’t get these medications then?” He agreed, and so I did in the moment. He left the room... the horror of possible tapeworm eggs I found in my BED running through my mind... I’m wondering, am I making the right choice by not getting anything? I couldn’t isolate the external cause for these eggs/seeds I was finding. So, when his assistant came back, I said, “I was just thinking, and I’m not really sure if there is anything external I can connect to this issue. Can I get just the one dose of medicine, just in case?” His assistant says sure, no problem. Walks out. Less than one minute later, the doctor comes in and says “Why did you tell my assistant the complete opposite thing, do you not believe me? Do you think I’m lying? I’m doing my best to be honest and give you my best opinion... etc.” I was taken back. Never would I have imagined my last minute decision, due to my anxiety over being a first-time owner, and especially my anxiety over bugs, furthermore DRIED TAPEWORMS in my bed. I justified my last minute choice, saying it was nothing to question or disregard his integrity, but rather my own anxiety. He further goes on to repeat himself, standing up for his opinion and shaming me for mine. In the end, he mockingly says “Have a good day...” but moreso in tone of “piss off”. My jaw was clenching. I could barely control myself near the end. I couldn’t wait to leave. To justify my review- when I went home, I looked closer and found a tapeworm moving in there. However, I will never return or refer VCA of Andover to anyone. The treatment I received from Dr. Jon Aluise was distasteful, unprofessional, and egotistical. Never would I have imagined I would shamed and embarrassed over a last minute decision to get medicine for my cat with tapeworms.

I would highly recommend Dr Jon Aluise to anyone and everyone that needs a great veterinary. Dr Aluise has been caring for my pets for many years and I would not trust anyone else with their care but him. No matter how big or small my concerns have been he has always treated me and my pets with the utmost respect and patience. From the minute he steps foot in the room you can tell the true passion he has to making pets lives better. He is extremely knowledgeable and thorough with his exams. He has always taking all the time necessary to figure out what is going on with my pets. No matter how many questions/concerns I have he always answers then and insists that’s what he is there for. He truly is the most professional and caring vet out there!

I bring my 4 year old pit here. She's been going here for about a year now. Let me tell you what Dr. Jon is amazing. He's so sweet and gentle and explains everything so well and detailed. Anytime my dog has ever needed to come in and be seen they get her in very quickly. Everyone that works there are so welcoming and always have such good vibes. They also have insurance for your pups which is very very affordable. I recommend seeing Dr. Jon and his vet family. They are the best!

During Covid when everyone else told me 2 weeks to see my cat, having a swollen cheek not being able to eat being miserable losing weight; stayed late to get my cat in after hours so I could drop her off and got her taken care of that night where I could pick her up the night day back to herself! I would not go any where else from now on, highly recommended...

They didn’t have keys to the medicine cabinet so could not give my dog a pain injection, so I had to leave him there. Picked him up later and they gave me a written prescription and the pharmacist told me it was incorrect. Now I am back for the 3rd time today, waiting on them to correct to my dog and get his pain medication. Not the same caliber as it was a few years ago.

Dr. Jon Aluise runs a top of the line veterinary clinic. I was really impressed! There's no reason his clinic shouldn't be rated amongst the top clinics in the state! Everyone is friendly and acts as though your pet is the highest priority. I wouldn't go anywhere else for my pet's needs!

I use Dr Jon Aluise at this Vet Clinic and have had nothing but positive experiences with him. He really puts his patients and their owners first. Very satisfied, to the point my wife doesnt want to move out of the east side just so we are near him should something happen to one of our furry babies.

My dog passed away two Saturday’s ago and I had her cremated. I called this morning to see what was taking so long... and she was ready to be picked up this past Saturday. I received no phone call. Seriously? You can surely see how important pets are and their owners. Told the receptionist I was going to come in after work and pick up her ashes. Told the girl I got off at 5....they are SUPPOSED to stay open until 6. Got there at 5:30 and the office was closed. I was already upset and preparing myself for picking up my little muffin and then for the office to be closed early and no courtesy phone call saying hey, we’re closing early today. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE! I was so upset. I cried all the way home.

Expensive, pretentious, unprofessional, and inexperienced. Forced us to get a heartworm test even though our dogs tested negative last time and had been on the meds continuously for the last 12 months. Was told on the phone that the test wouldn't be necessary, then the vet, Dr Hellman, said it was a requirement. I am apparently not able to make decisions on what care my pets receive. So they draw the blood THEY insisted on drawing, then stick us with an $8.00 per dog bio-hazard disposal fee. First time in 20 + years of owning dogs that I was charged that. Then they write a script for my dog's chronic condition, but didn't fill it there. They said I would have to go to a regular pharmacy to get it filled. Vets have been filling this script for years. They were pushing all sorts of meds and procedures on us, but couldn't fill a basic med? Probably because the profit margin on it is too small for them to bother carrying it. So, I go to Walgreens and they tell me that the dose of the med is not a human dose, too high. Why would a vet not know this? If they are not going to carry the med, write it for what the human pharmacy carries. Also, I was promised that I would be able to order heart worm meds online. But guess what? They won't deal with online companies. So I have to go home, get the information of the product I want, write it down, bring it back to them so they can write it out, then bring it back home to send it to the online pharmacy. Anyone else see any potential for medication errors in this process???? Andover vet's excuse was that they don't research online vet pharmacies. Well, I do, and I go with reputable companies, one in particular for the last 15 years. I guarantee you that I will never go back to this place again. They were pushing over priced meds, unneeded products, unneeded procedures, giving incorrect information over the phone, the vet was giving incorrect information about heartworm medicine, products and procedures. Steer clear of this place. In the 20 years I have owned dogs and in using vets in 6 states, they are by far the worst scam artists and shameless hucksters I have ever come across. Shame on you Andover Vet Clinic. P.S. In response to the Vet's response, I did speak with you about this. I found your response inadequate and focused on your best interest, not ours. Our visit there was rife with products you sell being repeatedly suggested to us. The information given by your clerical staff was incorrect, according to the vet. Also, you did not mention in your reply, the ridiculous $24 fee to dispose of my pet's blood that you insisted on drawing. NEVER in the 30+ years of taking pets to vets have I ever been charged that.

Recently I took my cat in to see Dr. Jon and he recommended dental cleaning. While I was a bit skeptical since I visibly could not see anything I trust Dr Jon and so I agreed. So glad I did! Not only did my cat have a decayed tooth that needed to be removed it apparently was hurting him and causing him to be antisocial. Once he got home he was a totally new cat! He can now be found sitting on our laps and interacting with us which has not been the norm for the last year. This service was so worth the money!

The vets and the staff are amazing people that provide great care for my now 14 year old labrador. Even though they aren’t the closest vet to where we live, I’m happy to make the drive for great care.

Absolutely the best team of caring people any pet owner could ever want when going to the vet. If you are thinking of bringing your pets here, do it! I was very impressed with the whole experience from the receptionist answering my phone call this morning as I was in a panic to get my hurting dog seen. She helped comfort me and encouraged me to bring him sooner. When I got there my dog was so scared and worried, but after a short while Dr. John and his assistant got him completely calm and happy. He turned my dogs frown into a smile. It was very impressive. They know what they are doing and are so knowledgeable! We got sent home with some medicine and my dog was feeling so much better. I highly highly recommend them! Look no further and try them out! Your pet will thank you!!

I believe this clinic is overpriced compared to others. I strongly feel that had I been going elsewhere, I would have saved a fair amount of money. My dog was in a scuffle with another dog and had a couple minimal puncture wounds. My mother in law took my dog to the vet for me as I was at work. After examination i spoke with the vet. I was told the total bill would be $902 if I decided to proceed with their recommendations which were to sedate him so that they could see how deep the puncture wounds were. The vet told me she preferred my dog be asleep because he did not like her messing with the wound. She also said there was a puncture on his belly and was concerned that my dog may have internal damage and it was her recommendation to ensure he was okay. Medication, sedation, the visit cost, and xrays we’re going to total $902. I decided to pay for the visit and take my dog to College Hill Veterinary Hospital. After examination the vet called to share her findings. She could not find any puncture wound on my dog’s stomach and neither did I. She cleaned up both puncture wounds without incident and did not have to sedate my dog to do it. She saw no need for X-rays. The bill is was $114 including visit and medication. My dog is healthy and thriving now. My husband was a previous customer here but after a few too many mistakes he refused to give them anymore money. He told me he would pay half my cost if I brought my dog to his vet. On a positive note, the staff is friendly including the vet that examined my dog.

Prices are insane compared to other vets in the area, but Dr. Jon and the rest of the staff care more about the animals than the money. So glad the harmon's retired!

I am not sure this could have gone any worse. On my 2nd visit to the clinic my dog was given the incorrect shots. On my 4th visit I had my baby sitter drop the dog off and was later informed that they (the clinic) had to chase the dog around the room until he pee'd and pooped himself. My dog was traumatized from that experience. This last time in my dog was under prescribed his medication. You can see that in the picture below. He is a 45 lbs dog. The medication was very under prescribed. Today when I asked to visit with the GM I was told she was busy. Horrible experience. Never again
