Bark Avenue West West Des Moines, Iowa

I take two dogs, Lady Dakotah and ZaZu, here on occasion. More frequently when the weather is bad. I also have them bathed here. The staff is friendly and responsive to my questions. I’m pleased they track vaccinations and require them. The dogs come home happy and tired.

Recently started taking Ezio to Bark Ave. West. I am very happy with them so far, and so is he! He is very suspicious of strangers, but does well with a confident person when first meeting them. I have had a hard time with daycares in the past because employees were too scared to work with him and I was told to not bring him back again. This issue has been going on since he was 6 months old. It takes him a little bit to warm up to new people, but when he does he is your best friend! I'm so glad that Bark Avenue is working with him. Another issue that I have had with other daycares is that he is intact so not allowed to play with other dogs (which is fine). He did individual playtime at other places and he would come home as though he didn't play at all! I haven't had this issue with Bark Avenue, he comes home and sleeps for the rest of the evening. It shows that they really put in the time, even with dogs that are individual playtime only, and make sure they are tired too! He has a lot of energy so I can definitely tell if he was exercised or not. Thanks Bark Avenue!!!

We would not trust our pup with anyone else. Ace I s genuinely over joyed when we tell him he’s going to Daycare. In addition to daycare, they have take great care in finding the best way to groom him. His fear of baths has always been a huge stressor for him. The staff at Bark Avenue West has worked with him for over a year and care enough to find ways of making bath time not so scary for him. We love Bark Avenue ❤️

Great place to look after your dog

We have been to 3 locations - Ankeny, Grimes, and West Des Moines and the all have been amazing! We normally have our dog go to the West Des Moines location for Daycare and they are always welcoming. We had our dog trained at the Ankeny location and where impressed at the improvement of him after the training.

I love how Bark avenue always send me updates and photos of my dog. I can see that he is having so much fun. I also love that they have themed holidays and offer photos too! It’s so cute! He loooovess going there!

The only place I will ever take my dog for daycare. He gets super excited to go and even knows daycare by name! I also love doing half days since he is a smaller dog. He comes home and relaxes with me. The parties are amazing and I love the report cards I get every time I send him!

Kelly is the best groomer and loves the dogs!

We take Oscar to Bark Ave for his grooming appointments, and Kelly is phenomenal. She does amazing work, and we’re glad she keeps Oscar looking his best!

Very professional and personable when dropping of dog. I felt reassured

We have an anxious puppy who loves to play with other pups but is tentative with new people and situations. The team at Bark Avenue has been incredible to work with, understanding her behavior and working to help her grow past her anxiety. Mentioning that she will see her “friends” gets her so excited for her visits! So happy for her to have a place like Bark Avenue!

Had our first visit the other day for our new pup, felt very comfortable from the moment we walked through the door and we were greeted by a very friendly staff. I look forward to Luna being able to spend more time here in the future, it definitely wore her out.

Spur of the moment had to board my dog for the weekend. They made it so easy and provided me a stress free experience. Highly recommend!

It was excellent the staff was great and dogs enjoyed it!

They were able to fit my dogs in last minute, due to my initial dog sitter going to the hospital. They took great care of them and sent multiple photos of them during play and potty time. My sitter ended up picking the boys up after she got out of the hospital. We didn’t give them much notice, so their beds were in the laundry when she picked them up. They were so kind to drop the beds off to my sister after hours. I would for sure recommend Bark Avenue West:)

Great experience here getting my dog a bath and nails trim for reasonable price

Finn had a good time. He was exhausted when we got back, which was good for me!

Called repeatedly during business hours could not get through, automatic hang up as soon as I got through. Other times when it didn’t automatically disconnect sent me straight to a voicemail for another location that I was not interested in using. Because if my frustration I will never try to use this place again despite the fact it looks to be like a very good kennel

Max, at the age of 9 yrs, had never been boarded before, and I was pretty concerned about how it would go. We were going out of town for 10 days (long time). The staff were incredibly responsive and put all of my concerns and worries at bay. I even went for a tour ahead of time to make sure that I knew where he would be. I asked for report cards every other day, which Bark provided, and there were pictures (and little comments about how his character) in each one! He looked great when I picked him up and didn’t seem stressed whatsoever. He made some friends at Bark and hopefully they will see each other again sometime!???? If you need to board, I would highly recommend Bark West!

This was our first experience with boarding a dog overnight. We were very impressed with the level of professionalism and kindness we experienced from the staff. They were more than happy to give us a tour to assure that we were comfortable with where our pup was staying. I was also SUPER happy to get the report card that had pictures of him playing with the other dogs. That's such a unique touch that we really loved. We can tell they care a lot about our animals and I would recommend them to anyone.

Bark Avenue does a great job grooming and deshedding my two huskies! They never complain about the amount of fur, are affordable and always leave my huskies looking beautiful! I would highly recommend them.

My dog Mia stayed there for 2 weeks and came back no worse for the wear! They sent pictures and a report card, which I appreciated. They were also very thorough with check in making sure they had all of the instructions and also with check out. I feel like they pay a lot of attention and care a lot about the each dog that comes in. I’ll definitely be taking her back next time I go out of town.
