Doctor Garton has cared for our elderly dogs for several years now, and my wife and I couldn't be happier to have found him and Riordan Pet Hospital. They have gone above and beyond to guide us through some medical issues with both of our dogs. I have had several animals in my life, and have been to multiple vets, and Riordan is hands down the best. From the awesome office manager that keeps things moving, to the helpful techs, and the great Vets, I highly recommend Riordan Pet Hospital!!!

If you are looking for a great place for your pets veterinary care you need look no further than Riordan Pet Hospital. All of the doctors, vet techs, office/front desk staff are awesome and truly show that each and every one of them care about your pet as if it were their own We rescued a Shih Tzu / Maltese fur baby a little over 5 years ago and have taken him to Riordan's from the very beginning for all of his vaccinations, other medical needs and his most recent diagnosis of diabetes. A special thank you to Dr. Chuck with the diabetes diagnosis and to Cindy at the front desk in always answering our calls with a caring voice and going the extra mile to finding answers to all of our questions when we call. The entire Riordan staff has been awesome in this journey with us in the continued care of our little guy with testing and monitoring of his glucose level as we give him insulin twice a day

Rioedan Diagnose my dog with diabetes when he had pancreatic failure. After giving him shots everyday we saw a decrease in his behavior and took him to the dog er. They told us either we can have him come home or take him to Iowa state for further exams. We decided to take him to Iowa State and they told us that he did not have diabetes. He lived for 24 hours there and then passed away.

My family has been bringing our dogs here since I was born, and they've always been wonderful. I live out of state now, but came home for a weekend with my dog, who had surgery a week ago. Some of her staples on her incision had popped open, and Riordan Pet Hospital was able to squeeze her in and take care of her, even though she wasn't a regular patient. After living in 4 different states and visiting numerous veterinarian clinics I can say with confidence there are no better vets anywhere than the Riordans. They've loved and cared for several of my family's pets as if they were their own.

Dr. Garton is a compassionate care giver for my dogs. He takes time to ask questions and to provide all of the information available. Dr. Garton supported us through a tough illness of one of my dogs and made it as easy as possible for all involved. The assistants and the front desk team were all wonderful too. The knowledge and professionalism that Dr. Garton and all Riordan staff have for my dogs and for all animals is amazing. I wouldn't take my pets anywhere else. My dogs are very lucky to have such an amazing vet. They go the extra mile to help you in your time of need.

I cant imagine taking my dogs anywhere but here. The time all of the Dr's have and the compassion they show is above and beyond. Dr Terry has seen us through some tough times and always assures us we do a great job with our Furkids.

Can't say enough great things about these guys. Our pets receive fantastic care from the vets and technicians.

Riordan's was good for regular check ups and giving vaccinations. But when my 4 month puppy broke her leg she ended up going through additional suffering as well as us spending hundreds of dollars more in visits and an ER trip. When she was splinted for the broken leg we suggested she have a cone put on so she could not mess with the splint. The doctor disagreed, weeks later she's rechecked and we suggest again then for a cone because she had picked at her splint and gotten an infection in her toes. Our suggestion was still disregarded and they gave her an even more ridiculous wrap around her waist for the splint. Less than a week after receiving this she ended up in the ER because the wrap around her waist had bit into her leg and the skin their had rotted and died so she is now recovering from a broken leg and stitches. And all of this could of been avoided if our vet would have heeded our suggestion and put a cone on her. The vet showed no real remorse or responsibility for what happened to our dog so they will no longer be getting our business. I could never trust them again to look at one of my pets.

They treat my dog and my brother's dog with the utmost care!

The love and knowledge that Dr. Riordan has for all animals is phenomenal. I wouldn't take my pets anywhere else.

This is one of the worst vet's in Des Moines. We had a horrible experience here with more than one doctor dealing with a misdiagnosis and mistreatment. If this was a hospital for humans, it would have resulted in a lawsuit. This vet is fine for the average monthly and annual care, but if your dog has any sort of special needs, I urge you to try somewhere else. Learn from our mistake!
