We were referred to Blue Pearl for our dogs surgery and they were absolutely amazing! Dr. Spah was his surgeon and he was amazing. He was very thorough and straightforward when explaining all of the possibilities to us. He also repeatedly …

We cannot give Blue Pearl enough stars! We have taken our 4 year old Siberian Husky to blue pearl for the last year and a half after being referred by our primary care physician when they deemed him in need of immediate emergency care. All of the doctors have been very thorough with his care. Dr. Spah has been absolutely wonderful through out his care of a rare condition that is tough to manage. He is extremely skilled, and that shows in his care. All of the doctors are extremely compassionate, and have empathized with us during some of the scariest times with our dog. We have also been seen by Dr. Jacobson, and Dr. Kimnetz, who were wonderful too. A year and a half later, the staff on his surgery team make a point to come see him when he is in the office. They treat him like their own, and it makes a huge difference. Lastly, Shannon at the front desk is always very friendly, and compassionate. We have and would continue to recommend Blue Pearl to anyone in need of emergency or specialty care for their fur babies.

All of the staff I interacted with were very kind and professional. I was happy with the urgency my pet was treated with due to her acute condition. I know urgent medical care for people and pets can get very expensive very fast. (thats capitalism, baby!) However, I wish I didn't have to negotiate as much when it came to pricing and deciding when to take my baby home. I wish the pricing structure was more detailed so owners can be presented with more stratified care plans options up front. In the end, I was able to speak with the vet multiple times throughout her stay and we were able to work out an affordable plan for her care at the hospital and at my home. It was very stressful leaving that initial visit with such a large estimate, but I'm happy with my decision to bring her to BluePearl to get life-saving treatment.

Compassionate, caring, thorough. Every employee we met treated us like family and helped us get through our sick dog’s care. I was more in shock at how sick the animals were who were being brought in. Even though our pup was not nearly as sick as others, they treated us with the same level of attention and care. Our visit, in total was about 2 hours, which seemed quicker than expected.

I had to make the hardest decision ever and put my kitty down last month.. everyone here was so caring & thoughtful. They made sure my kitty was safe and comfy especially when he was in the ICU. The day we had to put him down they let us spend a couple extra hours with our kitty until we were ready to say goodbye, that meant so much to us! They all showed a lot of sympathy for our family, even went the extra mile and send us a sorry for your loss card, signed by everyone! Very kind & caring workers! Thank you BluePearl for taking care of us!!

Had to to put our cat down after she was injured and this was the only place open. Extreamly caring staff! Made sure the cat was pain free and comfortable beforehand. Pet owners are blessed to have a place like this words cannot describe my appreciation

We are new to the area and had not established care with a vet when a medical emergency happened with our dog. The entire staff at Blue Pearl was extremely kind, caring and compassionate. We were absolutely frantic, and they took care of him as though he were their own pet. They took great care of us as pet parents too, making sure we were completely informed about his well-being. They are wonderful people and we will refer others and return if there is ever a need. Our sincerest gratitude goes out to the Pearl team!

We had to put our cat Smokey down today, we didn't have any funds. We didn't catch our vets name or our nurses name. But thank you so much for being so understanding and sweet. We can't even express how thankful we are.

My dog was experiencing a severe allergic reaction late Saturday night and the women that answered the phones (I made multiple calls) were incredibly helpful in helping me decide what to do for my dog. When he hadn’t improved much the next morning, I decided to bring him in to Blue Pearl. My dog is fear reactive and is a bite risk in high stress situations and everyone there was very understanding, kind and patient with him. Everyone I talked to took the time to sit with me and answer my questions and explain what was going on without making me feel like they were rushing me, despite them being very busy. I also appreciated their upfront approach to pricing; it took a lot of the stress out of the situation when they confirmed pricing with me before going ahead with his treatment. Of course I hope I don’t have to go back to Blue Pearl for another emergency, but if I do I’ll feel confident knowing that they’ll give great care to my boy.

Everyone was so kind and understanding. Check-in was quick and we were seen pretty soon after. The staff made sure that we knew what our options were and wanted us to fully understand what was happening. I hope we never have an emergency again, but if we do, we will be coming here for care. The price was considerably more than we'd spend at our regular vet, but we knew that going in since this was an after-hours emergency.

Not bad nor good. Just sort of in the middle when it came to my situation. Pricing is comparable for an emergency vet and did not try to push anything on me and were upfront with pricing. Does appear that they take care credit or similar for payment. Went in with a gagging cat that cried in pain that prompted me to bring him to the vet. This has never happened to him before, but with a history of urinary blockages, I did not hesitate to bring him in. They were very behind, but up front with the timing. They ran bloodwork with my consent but really gave no insight. Said maybe a URI or nausea. So they gave him anti-nausea but didn't rule out anything. Brought him to my normal vet in the morning and they told me the gagging was actually coughing and likely due to an infection and they wanted to double check that his heart and lungs were okay with an xray, since coughing could be underlying symptom. They were okay. Sent home with antibiotics and a sense of relief and active goals for monitoring. They seemed competent for actual emergencies and everyone was nice. But "simple" emergency scares, seem too basic to go to. Unfortunately, I don't work from home and his cry for distress really prompted me to go. Don't regret it, but will do more research just in case I need an emergency vet another time in the future.

The Doctors couldn't figure out how to pronounce my puppies name the whole times she was there. Gave us an estimate of 3,000 to 5,000 and than the bill was over 7,000. Doctors weren't on the same page and told different information every couple of hours. One doctor even noted her name wrong within the notes. They do take care credit but only offer the 6 month no interest payment not the other no interest payments of 12, 18, and 24 months which basically makes people who are struggling to keep their dog alive have to pay way more due to interest. My dog was covered in her own feces leaving here and I will never take my dog back to them.

Had my Dog Ziggy in there today as his face and neck were swelling and I did not know why. Staff was so kind and once back they explained the situation. Had to have a tube put in to drain an infection. They were upfront with the costs (yes expensive but it is a hospital and ER so I expected that. Just like a Human hospital is more expensive than a clinic). Once home my pup has been doing well. I had a few questions and called back and the lady on the phone was extremely helpful and put my mind at ease over a few of the questions I had. Great place for emergency care.

I have a very, very over protective almost 2 year old doberman/ rottweiler who lunges and barks at strangers. We called head of time to let them know we were coming and asked if they had a muzzle for their safety. We get there and they give us the muzzle and proceed to tell us how to put it on the wrong way eventually telling us to flip it over , finally we get it on adjusted and safe they take her to the back. They talk to us about cost and that's to be expected (24 hour emergency vet clinic totally understood) what get me is 3 mins later the dr comes out and tells us he is unable to examine my dog due to her moving around to much( ok understood ) also not allowed to go back and help due to potential bites (shes muzzled but ok) they wouldnt examine her with out sedation tacking on another amount to our bill so they offered to just send us to another vet clinic so we did and went toys to us a muzzle there as well IVS and they took her in and allowed their tech to sit with her and she ended up making a new friend she cuddled with him and even slipped her muzzle and allowed him to fix it with out a fuss she became protective over him to so anytime a new person would enter the room she would get growly again but over all going to blue peral would not reccomend for anyone with a protective or "aggresive "dog unless you want that extra cost tacked on

My dog had acute onset pulmonary edema and they met me at the door and rushed her to the back for exam. Unfortunately my girl was very old and I opted to end her suffering. They were the most compassionate people. The vet explained to me everything that would happen and was gentle. They treated me and my dog with kindness. I would definitely recommend for emergencies.

Not pleased with this place at all. First off...I feel most vets don't care for cats. Everyone wants a dog & thats where the real money is. I have a cat. When my own vet couldn't technically help her for an emergent situation, they informed me to go to a pet (dog)hospital ... which I did. My experience was lengthy, costly (almost double due to a skam) & the medication I was given was for dogs. Pills sooo big (the size of a nickle) & thick, it could have choked & killed my cat, even in the 1/4 size they gave me. After spending $800+ , the only additional help they could offer was at a cost of $2,000-4,000 more. As a cat owner, I would not recommend this place.

Our male cat was acting strange so we brought him in to the clinic. They assumed it was urinary issues, and it turned out not to be. The doctor gave us no advice on how to proceed forward, she was only worried about telling us the costs of things. We decided to get him in for a scan. We waited hours in the waiting room while our cat was supposed to be getting his scan done, that they told us would only take 30 min. We finally had to say since they don't know what's wrong with him that we have to go because it was getting too late. So, finally he was magically on the scan table and they wanted us to leave and keep him there because the results could take 3 hours. We said no, we're taking him home after he was stuck back there for 2 hours doing nothing. So, they promised they would call us with his scan results and email me his discharge papers. At first it was going to be a 3am phone call, we waited and waited. I called 3 times the next day because all they said was they left a message with a doctor that had to talk to me about the results. She finally called me back at a moment I could not talk so I barely could have a productive conversation with her. Afraid of playing phone tag again. They were waiting for the same overnight doctor to call me back. They could have explained that in the first place, and what if the results of the scan were serious? My cat went all day without knowing what it was. And now I'm playing phone tag again to get my discharge papers. I had to call to get them and they didn't have his scan results on them. I called back. They told me it would take them an hour to find his results and email them to me. I haven't heard back and hour later and will keep calling until I get them. TERRIBLE PLACE to take your pet! No answers & no communication skills whatsoever! I'm thanking God my pet didn't have to have surgery with them after reading all these other reviews.

Brought our golden retriever here for knee surgery this week.. communication was great, staff was very friendly and accommodating. Received phone call updates, was able to visit my pup the night of surgery post-op, discharge instructions upon taking our pup home were very clear and the woman was extremely helpful and detailed. Would highly recommend.

Horrible female vet wanted to euthanize our cat instead of treating her because she was elderly. Rude, arrogant, talked over and interrupted us multiple times. Tried to bully us into euthanasia telling us she knew more about our cat of 14 years than us or our regular vet. When that didn't work she tried to scare us with the outrageous price of treatment. Sickening, disgusting experience. This woman should not be a vet! Can't imagine how many people she has bullied into premature euthanasia. We couldn't get our cat out of that place and away from that woman fast enough. She should have her license revoked!

For my cat’s latest vaccine, I decided to try a new clinic (on Mills Civic) closer to home than my old one in Waukee. A few months later, my cat grew what turned out to be a malignant tumor at the site of the injection, right between her shoulder blades. I brought her in for a surgery consultation. I was told that this type of tumor cannot be completely eradicated due to how it roots/weaves itself into the body. It’s not what I wanted to hear, but the doctor was incredibly kind, empathetic, and patient in explaining everything and answering my frequently incoherent questions I attempted through snot and tears. Thank you.

All the staff were nothing but helpful and took amazing care of myself and my puppy. I would've had to wait until December to be seen at the other place that can do the surgery my dog needed and it would be another 4-5 month wait to get the surgery done at the other place. Bluepearl got my dog right in first available and did surgery the same day as the exam. My dog had already been suffering in pain and on meds for a month already .I was so thankful they got him in quickly and did surgery right away to get my puppy relief. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I read reviews good and bad about the Bluepearl and was nervous to take my puppy there but I can honestly say I'm so greatful I came. They were wonderful with my puppy and took great care of him. I highly recommend them to anyone.

Our little pup was hit by a car this morning. All our local Vet offices were closed but Blue Pearl Pet Hospital was open and the moment we walked in the door they immediately took her back and gave her the TLC attention she needed. Very professional service and excellent communication. Highly recommend for emergency pet needs. Happy to report my little 7# maltipoo is back home safe and recovering.

80 DEGREES INSIDE A HOSPITAL FOR SEVERAL DAYS IN A ROW, non-disaster area. HOW IS THAT GOOD FOR THE HOSPITALIZED PETS?!?! I was there recently with a dog that was having breathing problems. THE STAFF WAS GREAT, the only problem is that it was SO HOT IN THE BUILDING! This is a hospital right? It was 80 degrees in the lobby. The receptionists had the lights off up front and the doors to the back were open to help create a draft. I actually had to go IN MY CAR to cool off. How is that healthy for pets who are sick to be in there?? The staff was doing the best they could but my goodness, for such a large corporation they can't properly cool their building?!? The staff gets 5 stars but Blue Pearl the company gets -1 star for not being able to maintain their building. Their PRICES ARE HIGH ENOUGH to think that a GIANT CORPORATION could maintain their HVAC system in a hospital. I WENT BACK TWO DAYS LATER AND IT IS STILL ABOVE 80 DEGREES.

I went in with my kitty Rogue and he had a urinary blockage... I was rushed through an impossible decision which resulted in having my cat euthanized. It genuinely felt like they DID NOT CARE when delivering the news, instead they seemed irritated that I was upset. The suspicions about their lack of care was confirmed when I went to pick up his ashes today and they couldn't even spell his NAME correctly... They didn't even care enough to spell his name right. I'm devastated. I'm sitting here looking at his box of ashes wondering if it's even him in there and it's tearing me up inside. AVOID taking your animals here...

Thieves. Neighbor took my cat in for breathing problems and they charged me $1000 then didn’t give me medicine for the cat. Called them and they said that they messed up and we’re going to fill my prescription. They filled it for a human inhaler with no cat mask. Then said I’d need to come back and incur another charge to pay for the cat mask. Don’t take your pet here unless you want scammed.

For the second time in three years, BluePearl saved our cat. Once when he swallowed a needle and the other when he had a full urinary blockage. Hopefully you will never need an emergency vet, but if you do, I recommend BluePearl. You get quality treatment for your pet, and they work with and take care of you, the owner, as well. From multiple daily updates, texts with photos of your pet so you can see how they're doing, and fully disclosing all costs (no, emergency vet care is not cheap, but if you look on-line you'll see their emergency services are not out of line at all) and necessary treatments.... they make a stressful situation as manageable as possible. Thank you BluePearl!

Wasn’t open about all the complications that came with the surgery for our dog and after spending 7200 we have no dog. Didn’t tell us about the complication until later either. Also under the impression that his problem was lower in back and not neck!
