Dr. Joel DeJaynes listened carefully, asked relevant questions, made a call to the pharmacy, gently examined my cat, and explained everything so I could understand what he said, and his reasoning. Dr DeJaynes is a wonderful example of what all the veterinarians are like at Starch Pet Hospital and University West Pet Clinic. I have been taking my pets there for over 40 years and I always feel my pets receive quality care and gentle compassion. I wouldn't go anywhere else!

I have been taking my pups here for 6 years now and we are always able to get in when when we need to. Everyone is so friendly and treat me and my fur babies like family. They share stories and experiences about their pets, which often helps me with my questions and concerns. The vet’s are very knowledgeable and will explain things in a way that I can understand. I highly recommend University West Pet Clinic for check ups any care your pets may need.

I absolutely love the vet's here. I have been going to them for years and they are always wonderful with my dogs. My sweet Meeka recently has had some bladder issues and I am extreme worry wart. They always deal with Meeka in a gentle way which makes me feel better because she is so shy and scared of people. They always explain everything and make me feel better when either of the dogs are sick. They are wonderful!

We were moving and needed to see if there was something to give are cat to make the trip out of state less traumatic for her. I of course waited till the day before leaving to think of this. There was no issue getting us in that afternoon and updating her shots as well as the prescription for an medication for the 20 hr trip. The whole staff has always been so kind to all of our animals.

Brought my aging dog in for a surgical procedure and everything went well. I was contacted the moment she was out of surgery and the helpful, friendly and professional staff were very thorough in what to exoect. I wouldnt trust my fur babies to anyone else!

My sister in law Gina Nichols recommended you and she said y’all are the best. Thankfully y’all ran tests on Bella ear gunk and found out the problems. Bella has finally stop scratching her ears and crying.

Friendly and courteous reception and prompt service. The initial review by the vet technician was excellent and attending care by the veterinarian superb.

I love this clinic! Everyone there is very friendly. We have used them for years. That says a lot! Reasonable Prices and great care!! My recent visit with my new kitten was nothing less than great. ????

I am not from the area and for that fact the state. University West Pet Clinic went above and beyond my expectations. My dog who is my life had an emergency and needed to be seen immediately. I live 5 hours away and had no way of being able to take my dog back and be seen in a reasonable time needed for his injuries. Kathy who answers the phone was able to calm me down and reassure me my dog would be taken care of. Alison the vet tech was amazing! It I could multiply her I would, not only did she love my dog like her own but she helped calm my nerves and reassure me that they were going to take care of my dog. Dr. Takes diagnosed the issue and was able to plan my dog’s surgery. Dr. Takes took time to answer any and all questions. Dr. Martz is my hero and I will be forever in debt to him. His ability to do dental work is superb. I cannot thank everyone enough for their genuine care towards my dog. When I’m in Iowa I will only go to University West Pet Clinic.

Very patient and pet oriented! Reasonable and conscientious! Excellent caring service! All providers. Even the invoice has all the vaccination info on every copy! Great !

I’m so pleased with the Cate my 17 year old cat rec’d yesterday. The doctor was thorough, listened to my concerns and desired outcome. The clinic was super busy, so it was not fast. But I prefer quality care over speedy care, anyway. I felt the bill as reasonable for all the service we rec’d, too. I’ve been a client with Starch/University West for 40 years. With only a blip or two over 4 decades, they have been top notch!

We had a great experience here! Our 4 month old puppy is a little timid, but the staff was great at making him feel comfortable. Dr. Lisa Takes was great with him, and answered all of our questions and gave some great advice! Reasonably priced as well. So happy we chose this clinic.

I've never seen my dog happier to be around strangers! Great team great atmosphere. Will definitely be my pets primary place of care.

I have been using University West for over 20 years. My only complaints would be price and maybe a bit of eagerness on their part to give false hope. I have had rescue dogs only for the last 26 years. I can no longer afford to do that. My last three have had significant health problems. My current pet is only three and I have spent well over $1,000 on her skin and allergy issues alone. The one before that developed bone cancer. That disease was terribly sad, but fairly quick. The beautiful dog I had before her developed multiple issues. I did what I could to keep him alive. I spent thousands of dollars based on what I was told his life could be if I authorized various procedures. The dog didn't have many good days over his last several months. I spent thousands while the dog suffered. I still feel guilty about what I put him through. The better part of kindness would have been to save the money and let him escape this world several months earlier. I can't afford to rescue dogs anymore. Please get your dogs spayed or neutered.

Good staff but because I questioned providers evaluation communication was strainedI did not get answers to what I should do differently and it was clear she did not like to be questioned . In past have always had good experience. Progress note made by provider was judgmental and unprofessional. Will get another opinion with some good recommendations. Has been hard when puppy was ill and have had to go to acute care clinics as they have not been willing to work her in! Never see same vet!

The folks at University Pet Clinic have always had our concerns as their concerns and provided caring and professional health care for our dogs at every turn. We have been going to them for over 10 years based on the recommendations of others who say the same things. Due to going there this long we have inevitably had to deal with the end of life for one of our dogs and they truly cared as much for him as we did and were supportive all along the way. Cannot say enough good things about the staff.

I was recommended to this clinic and I’m sure happy we decided to establish care with them! They did a great job answering any questions or concerns I have as a new dog owner.
