Best decision we have made. Dropped our puppy off before heading for vacation. Apprehensive, yes. When Driggsy's training session had concluded, we picked up a confident, obedient dog. Not just with me, but with our 3 young kids as well. The training methods not only made her a more obedient dog, but changed her behavior in our home. When the door bell rings or we have visitors, she sits on her training bed that comes with the program. When commanded, she walks in heel off leash outside, YES, off leash without worry. Well worth every penny. The follow up visits will only reinforce her commands. If YOU follow Jakes command training instructions, and follow them with confidence, your dog WILL see you as the alpha.

5 Stars!! We took our 5 month old goldendoodle to A Leg Up K9 and our pup came home a new puppy. Jake the owner was very quick on responding and gave us updates while our pup was with him. Our whole family are able to take the pup on walks with confidence. Now that our pup is trained with A Leg Up K9, we do board him there while we are out of town and he comes home a happy dog!

Jake at A Leg Up K9 was very effective at getting our 1-year-old sheepadoodle to be very obedient and follow several useful commands, such as “on your bed.” He communicated with how things were going in the initial 2 weeks, and the follow up visits and education have been effective to keep her on the right track. Highly recommend him to train your K9. We have a much happier and less stressful home with an obedient dog.

When we decided to bring our Australian Shepherd/Husky mix puppy, Luna, to Jake we were feeling extremely hopeless. She was a nightmare at home, on the leash and in the car. We tried everything we could, but nothing seemed to work on her. She was extremely stubborn and simple daily tasks were difficult, if not impossible to accomplish at home. However, when we went to pick her up after the 2 week training program it was like we got a different dog back. She was no longer uncontrollable, she wasn't trying to dislocate our arm when she was on the leash and was now a fully controlled pup. Even in the car she is now perfectly behaved. It's been a few weeks since we have had her back and our lives are significantly better. There is still work to be done with her, but Jake's advice and quick responses to our questions have helped us learn how to properly handle her.

I would HIGHLY recommend A Leg Up K9 to anyone! The difference Jake and his team have made in our dog and our family’s lives has been amazing. She is able to be a part of our family now and we are forever grateful!

I sent my at-the-time 5 month old puppy to A Leg Up for 2 week board and train. Jake answered all of my questions and talked with me on the phone about his program before I made the decision. I was very happy with the results! Because of my puppy’s age, as Jake warned, he needed a couple of extra days at the facility in order to meet Jake’s training expectations, but he did this without charging me any extra. I’ve been scheduling the follow up sessions with Jake about every two weeks, and it’s been very easy to get the day/time I need. The training absolutely works, but you do have to work with your dog on your own. Personally, my expectations are less strict than Jake’s expectations were at camp, and it shows during the follow up sessions lol! Overall though, this has been a good experience. Jake is very helpful and knowledgeable, as well as consciously aware of how much this program costs. He knows how much we spend on it, and so he makes sure we get our money’s worth. I adopted my puppy as a senior in college to take him to graduate school with me this fall. I absolutely needed this type of training to make this transition with him successful!

We took both of our Goldendoodles to A Leg Up K9 to be trained. Prior to training our dogs would take off out the front any chance they had and we would have chase other throughout the neighborhood. When we would walk them they were always pulling at the lease and would be easily distracted. Since getting them back I can leave the front door open and they don’t move. Walking is a breeze with no leash, the very rarely break stride (still working on this). Definitely a night and day difference and have already recommended multiple people to A Leg Up K9

I recently moved into the area and my living community is filled with dogs. I'd encounter them multiple times while out walking my large German Shepherd, Jax. Sadly, neighbors would steer clear of us on the walks because Jax would go nuts and admittedly looked like he wanted to eat their pups. He reacted similarly when seeing dogs out of the window of the house or the car. Of course, this was less than optimal for all involved (including Jax's own state of mind). Because of it and for safety reasons and added confidence, I muzzled and leashed him while walking and when visitors came into the house. It was always a process and always placed others ill at ease. And then I found Jake. Jax went in for the two week board and train with Jake and now is completely manageable on walks in the neighborhood, remains calm on his bed when dogs walk right by our patio window, and stays in his bed when visitors/delivery folks come into the house. I no longer feel like we're a nuisance in our neighborhood. I also received the added benefit from Jax's newly learned ability to heel that I can run and hike with him which is a huge bonus for both of us! Jake accomplished with Jaxson what I had been unable to do with previous training programs. It was hard to leave Jax for 2 weeks but definitely well worth it! Thanks to Jake for all of his help!

LOVE JAKE!!!! He has helped us with our 6 month old pitbull who would absolutely not walk correctly and pull like crazy! And also with fear aggression as well. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Jake is very professional and was quick to answer the phone with any questions or concerns I had.

We have been so pleased with the training our puppy received at A Leg Up K9!!! We were looking for a trainer that would train both our dog and us so that we could keep him safe and pleasant to play with, Jake delivered! We were concerned we would get a “robot” dog that had no personality but Higgins is as exuberant and playful as ever but with notable self control! Jake answered our endless questions and works with us to ensure we are confident in continuing our work with our dog!!!

We brought our 6 month old Great Dane to A Leg Up K9. He liked to use his paws to get your attention, jump on us and pulled on the leash. We couldn’t ever let him be off a leash. He would never sleep in his cage and he would bark and whine ALL night. He was a different dog when he came home! He has slept in his cage every night and doesn’t make a peep now, is off leash all the time. Jake is very knowledgeable, patient and great with dogs. It was worth every penny!

Jake helped our family tremendously. Our 2 Pitbulls decided to get into a fight one day while I was home alone and 6 months pregnant. I was heartbroken thinking I had to get rid of a member of our family. Jake worked with both our dogs at his board and train. We got back completely different dogs. They are controlled and behaved. Our house is a home of order and control instead of chaos. I am forever thankful for Jake for helping our family.

We sent our puppy "Bear" to A Leg Up K9 for a 2 week board & train. Before training he was a very sweet pup, but was the posterchild for a puppy with no boundaries. After training he has been amazing. He can go on long walks without a leash, even with distractions all around. He stays calm and will stay in place when asked, which is super helpful when guests are over. We would highly recommend sending your furry friend to work with Jake at A Leg Up K9!

Even though I loved her more than anything else in the world, my dog was on mine and my family’s last nerve. She knew no personal boundaries and I was afraid to take her places in fear she would jump on people or get lose and run away. I was worried about costs of board and train, but now I wish I had done it earlier as it is a great investment. After putting her in board and train with Jake, she listens, is completely off leash, and understands that people don’t like muddy paws all over them. My family no longer hates when we come to visit and I feel more comfortable taking her places. She’s also completely off leash, so I never have to worry about her running away! I honestly can’t say enough good things about Jake and A Leg Up K9, they turned my dog from a ball of crazy into a properly trained angel!

I recommend A Leg up to anyone looking to improve the ore relationship with their dog. Our Mini Aussie Jax came home a completely different boy! He listens and stays and has quit his bad habits. We enjoy our time with him.

Enough can’t be said about “A Leg Up K9.” From day one through the whole process Jake has been exceptional. We had just had a child and our dog was so bad, we thought we were going to have to give him to a shelter. He would counter surf, …

Jake did a Great job training our German Shephard, he is happier now and so are we, he knows when it is time to play and when it is time to behave, he is great with our grandsons which was our biggest concern when we took him to Jake for his training. We definitely would recommend A Leg Up K9 and Jake for your dog.

My daughter has a Shepherd and Rottweiler that live in my house. They were both loud at people who passed by and would pull me along on walks. I didn’t enjoy any of this. The dogs were sent to K9 and when we went to see them after 3 weeks I didn’t recognize them. They obey, are quite and I can enjoy a walk with them. We still have a moment or two when things get off track but if I had to do it again I would definitely send them to K9. I can’t say enough good things about this training. I would recommend to anyone that needs some help.

Jake did an amazing job teaching discipline to our 16 month old Newfypoo. She went from an annoying nervous dog that barked and jumped on everything to an enjoyable dog that still has her playful personality. Jake’s approach is simple and consistent with just a few commands to learn. His in-class sessions teach you everything you need to retain the training at home. Would highly recommend Jake and his top-notch service.

We have 2 Dobermans that are terrified of everything, high energy, and somewhat stubborn. One is extremely dependent on the other and barking out of fear was an issues as well. Jake did an amazing job with them and we out out and about worry free now! I look forward to continuing our progress with Jake!

Jake did a great job training Korra. We took Korra to A Leg Up K9 for fear reales behaviors around strangers and to improve general obedience. Since her training, Korra is much more relaxed around new people and listens to commands much better. We feel much better about having her in a variety of environments now.

“Seriously?!?” and “Wow” are the two words we used after seeing the transformation of our two small-breed dogs after their time with Jake. His work with them was followed by working with us to understand how we can help to continue to build upon the successes and skills they learned at A Leg Up K-9. Thank you, Jake!

We took our unruly, putting it nicely, black lab to A Leg Up K9 for a 3 week training course. The difference is amazing. Prior to training, we could not get Quinton to listen to us. He was always so hyper. Now he is beautiful in the house. Outside, he was a menace. Our neighbors have all commented on the change. They could not believe what a gentleman he has become. The best part is the trainer Jake. He doesn’t just train the dog, but goes the extra step and helps us to reinforce the training for Quinton. And he does it in stages so we can remember. I knew that Quinton would be a challenge and wondered if anyone could train him. So if you have an ‘unruly’ dog that needs training. A Leg Up K9 is definitely the place.

Jake trained both our dogs and we couldn't be happier. While it is a lot of work once you get your dogs back from training, it is very much worth it. Our house is much quieter and under control. Jake is professional and easy to work with and the amount of 5-star reviews is no accident.

Jake did an awesome job helping out our one-year-old Doberman and us! We were at our wits end having to deal with four little kids and an untrained dog. Jake was able to set the stage perfectly for us so that we could continue his tremendous work at home! Jake is wonderful to work with and very easy to get a hold of if I was having questions with training afterwards. I would highly, highly recommend his services for anyone who is wanting that wonderful relationship between dog and owner!
