The way the rooms are set up is so amazing. The rooms are large with lots of areas for climbing, plus pet doors that let them go to a screened in porch and watch the birds. There's also lots of information on the doors about each cat. The staff is really nice. I also love that they're so dedicated to the cats that if you decide to get kittens, they will let you take two because of the potential bad effects of a kitten growing up without another cat around. We already have a cat, so we went home with one. They gave me lots of information about the cat we adopted. (Her name was Sarah Newlin at the shelter, but I renamed her Luna.) They warned us that Luna is very shy. However, I really think due to the excellent socialization she got at the shelter, she's not as shy as she was when they first got her. She hid for several hours in her safe room. Now she comes out and rubs against us and purrs.

I've brought 3 cats to them in the past few years and they never let me down. They took great care of my 4 month old kitten this last visit. The prices are reasonable and they keep you informed if anything happens to come up. I will continue to bring my fur babies to get neuter/spayed.

What a wonderful non profit resource to have our semi-feral cat spayed! I was desperate to find her a home before we learned she was pregnant! After her kittens were born (on our back deck!) I found out about OAR. So thankful they provided a no cost spay and rabies vaccine so we could release her safely back outside our home as a welcomed furry friend, without worrying about future pregnancies! This is a humane and proper way to help control the outdoor cat population! (I learned that they also offer low cost spay and neuter services for domestic indoor cats). Staff were friendly and miss kitty had no problems after surgery.

This is 9 years after my original review. NOTE: they take in cats from kill shelters, NOT from the general public. Many shelters in the tri-state (Oh-IN-KY) are closer to being "no-kill" shelters because of OAR's work. After 12 years of dealing with this group I still say this is a fantastic group of staff and volunteers running a Trap-Neuter-Return and No-Kill shelter. This organization just gets better. As of December 2021 literally thousands of cats a year are neutered and spayed at low cost, and thousands are adopted each year. In add they support folks supporting feral cat colonies all around the area. They rent live traps so feral cats can be neutered and spayed and treated for medical problems. See Ohioalleycat.org for details about the organization and information adoption and visiting their purpose built cat shelter.

They took great care of my new cat. Clean, friendly and easy to find. No excuses not to spay/neuter your pet, they offer the service at an amazing price and even pick them up if needed.

Everything went great! Though tags of proof doesnt count. Make sure you have email or physical proof of vaccine for your cats!

This shelter is amazing! They have so many beautiful cats and kittens all ranging from different ages and colors. My family and I adopted a sweet orange kitten they had named Astrocreep, we renamed him Opie. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a new fur baby. All cats come with up to date on shots, are Spayed/neutered, and microchipped. The staff were so friendly and helpful!

These folks care about cats and do everything in their power to spay and neuter cats in the community. Wonderful organization.

Cheap spay/neuter clinic. Helps avoid going to the vet and hearing 50 other things that need to be treated "right away".

These are good people! I'm so grateful to everyone of them for kindness, and being there for kittens and cats. They are so reasonably priced, affordable. All they did for my sweet cat would not have been possible for me to afford at the vet. I brought a stray cat in to see if he was chipped or neutered, he was neither, so made an appt for next morning drop off at 8. He received all his necessary shots, plus Revolution for fleas, dewormed, complimentary nail trim and must importantly neutered. In addition, upon examination an abscess was discovered at base of his tail, I was called for permission to get antibiotic shot. Picked him up at 7:30am next day. Now, he's feeling great and I'm very grateful for OAR❤

We brought our kitty to get fixed and some shots, but upon pick up they told us our cat had fleas. Which our kitty is over 9 months old now and we have never seen a flea on him or ourselves until the night we picked him up. He had never even been out of the house before this. We payed them extra to deal with it because they had an earmite/flea treatment that we selected because we knew he had ear mites that needed treated, but if you really treated him he shouldn't have fleas and he came back to us with fleas! I would not recommend this facility for this reasoning and I suggest others take my advice to save you the time and money to get rid of the fleas they infest your animals with upon arrival.

I had a great experience at this shelter, while looking for a new addition to our home. I spent about 2 1/2 hours playing with all the cats, at my own pace and comfort level. It's extremely well maintained and you can tell the animals are well cared for. I'm happy we found a new fur baby!

If you step over the threshold you're leaving with a cat. You think "oh, I'm just browsing." No! Say hello to your newest family member.

Low cost spay and neuter clinic for cats. Super staff made accommodations to keep my feral cat on weekend when they had too many surgeries on Friday. That is above and beyond kudos!!!

Back logged, but cheaper than any vet's office to get'em fixed, about 1/2 or 1/3 the cost. You may have to wait a month or three. The pickup and delivery is great in Northern Kentucky.
